Love Began with the First Meeting -
Chapter 703 You Really Disappoint Me (Part Four)
What Tony did not want to think further was that if Wing could not recover from this accident, none of them would be able to accept the reality that Wing was dead, including Mr. Long and his wife, Mr. Brian Long and Wing's husband. Especially, Wing's husband, who loved her so very dearly. As Tony was lost in thoughts, the sound of rapid pace drew closer and closer, which indicated the man was in a hurry. Tony stopped thinking more and turned around. He saw Weston dash towards them. Before he could take a breath, he caught Brian's shoulders as soon as he arrived. He yelled in great anger, "How did that even happened? Answer me now!"
Brian did not get rid of Weston, who lost his mind due to the overburdening anger and concern. He just shifted his gaze slowly to meet Weston's eyes. His calm face could not hide the sorrow any more. He curled his face into a big pensive facial expression. But he did not say a word, just let Weston shake him incessantly.
"Say something! Tell me what happened!" Weston's eyes were glistening with tears reflecting his fear. He repeated again and again as he broke down in the cold and tense corridor of the hospital, "Wing cannot be injured, cannot be injured... How did that happen? Why did this happen to her?" He was on the verge of losing his mind.
The loud and hysterical cries haunted the empty and white hospital. The nurse at the nurse station wanted to politely remind him to be quiet for the other patients in the hospital. But since Weston had lost his mind, anyone who got involved might be facing his undue wrath. Therefore, no one had the courage to interrupt his indignation.
Finally, Brian opened his thin lips and said, "Weston..." His voice was peaceful and soft. But everyone in this space could sense that he was wrestling his mind to control his fear and worry. He bore a lot of pressure now. He continued, "I promise that Wing will be fine..." What he said was just a hollow promise, no one in the corridor believed this because they all knew the uncertainty and despair in his speech.
"If anything unexpected happens to Wing, I will never forgive you! You don't deserve it!" He collapsed as the strength he used for clenching Brian's shoulders subsided. He gritted his teeth hard so as to control his outrage and emotions. Only in this way could he let go of the urge to punch Brian. Finally, he left Brian and turned around suddenly. As soon as he walked away, he caught a glimpse of Molly, who stood far away from everyone at the end of the corridor. Once he saw her, he came to a sudden halt and just gazed at her as if he wanted to kill her with just his eyes.
Weston's abnormal reaction drew both Brian's and Tony's attention. They also turned around slowly and saw Molly.
The blood on Molly's hand had dried up. She came to the hospital with Harrow, who brought Spark to receive medical treatment to save his hands. Because Harrow would follow Spark's condition, she left there and came to Wing's operation room hastily to check on Wing. Now, she stood in front of so many people, who were Wing's family and concerned about Wing. But she had no idea what she really felt and what she should do at the moment when every Wing's family members looked at her as if she was their enemy and the cause of this sudden misery. She felt her heart hurt as if they grasped her heart. Maybe it was too hurt, now she could not feel anything from her heart. She asked herself about her feelings, however, she had no answer.
Even so, she still had to face the harsh reality, to face Wing's family, to face their immense outrage and blame. So she walked forward slowly. She was scared to face their fierce words. The closer she got to them, the more fear overwhelmed her. At one moment, she even considered running away from all of this chaos and hurt. To escape from not only those angry and disappointed people, but the horrible accident, partly caused by her. She also was afraid of the answer which the doctors would give when they finished the surgery and came out of the operating theatre. She could not bear even the thought of Wing dying owing to her stupid mistake. She could not accept that. Neither did all the people there.
On the way to the hospital, Harrow told her that Wing had blood poisoning, which meant that she could not be injured. Once injured, her wound would not recover from bleeding. He also told Molly about an accident in the past. When Wing was young, she had suffered a car accident. And on that day, she lost a younger brother, who was also Brian's elder brother.
"Pa!"
A hard and quick slap hit Molly across her pale and guilty face, giving out a conspicuous sound in the tranquil hospital corridor. Molly's head turned sideways with a sudden impact. She did not move. The warm temperature and the jittering pain on her face was relished by her because she was glad that she still could feel something, even if it was a slap.
"Molly," Weston gritted his teeth and clenched his fists, yelling out, "If Wing does not make it... I promise that every day you live I will make you wish you were dead. I will make you suffer!"
Molly heard all he said while keeping her face still and looking sideways. She did not see Weston's angry face. In her plain sight, only the cold ground floor was getting bigger and bigger. She pressed her lips and tried to control her tears forming inside her brooding eyes by frequently whipping her eyelashes. The tears inhibited by Molly came from the sorrow which overwhelmed everyone in the space and the abhorrence in Brian's eagle-like eyes rather than the pain on her face and Weston's outrageous words.
"I am sorry..." After an embarrassing moment of silence, the only words she could speak out was an apology. She repeated it again and again, just like an emotionless repeater as she was numb with concern, guilt, and horror. "I am sorry, I am sorry, I am sorry..." "Do you think an apology can make any of this disappear?" Eventually, Brian stopped her nonsensical apology. He walked in front of Molly and spoke out. The gaze was a mix of love and hate, which reflected his current complex feelings about Molly. He looked at Molly, and could still smell the blood on her hands, it was Wing's blood. The air was cold and tense, no one let out a sound in such a situation. Everyone held their breath and waited for the surgeon. Then Brian sighed deeply, "Molly, How can I fall in love with an idiot like you?" Brian did not know who to blame, himself or Molly.
Molly lifted her head slowly to meet Brian's gaze. She looked astonished and did not do anything in response to Brian.
"If I want to cut Spark's hands, even... kill him," Brian said as he gritted his teeth hard. "Do I need to make such great efforts? If I even want to kill a man in the broad daylight, or a hundred, I would just do it without a blink! Who would dare to lock me up in prison?" Brian said these with copious disappointment. "Even if I wanted to hurt Spark under the table... Do you think Little Cutie would have the opportunity to follow them? Did you lose your mind?"
The more he spoke, the closer he walked towards Molly, and the more she moved backward. She felt guilty as Brian pointed out all gaps and inconsistencies in this abnormal case. The immense burden of guilt killed her at the very moment. She just felt like that she was hit on her head by a huge stone. She was completely a mess and did not know what to say.
Because she could not defend herself. Brian continued to approach her as he said, "Molly..." He called her name slowly and softly as though nothing had happened. But the tears haunting on his eagle-like eyes betrayed his voice, showing his great sorrow and pity. He had never shown such emotion. But now, he was so worried about Wing. He was afraid that Wing might die at any moment. And the one who pushed Wing to such a situation was the woman he loved so much. "Do you know... You, Molly, really disappoint me!"
