Love Began with the First Meeting
Chapter 758 When Courage Does Not Always Mean Fearless (Part One)

Whenever I felt fear creeping in, I'd put up a front and face it head-on. On the other hand, when tormented by reality, like a true masochist, I would embrace it with open arms. For seeing a loved one despite the suffering could make it all worth it in the end. Like being under a spell that one can't break away from, it is something that simply can't be avoided. In A-magic Restaurant.

During dinner, Mark was more than elated to be eating Chinese food once again. As he had been living abroad for almost two years, he had missed it very much, particularly the spicy dishes which were difficult to replace in Britain. Vincent, however, was absent-minded the entire time. "Vincent," said Mark, after taking a bite and gulping some water. "Why aren't you eating?"

Slumping back in his seat, Vincent threw him a dejected look. For over two years, he had not been able to talk to Brian, and the man never hinted the possibility of forgiving him. Today in the parking lot, Vincent saw him but it was just a glance. It troubled him that Brian did not even see him at all.

"Young master, do you think Miss Molly will make it today?" he asked, holding a glass of water. He feared that today could be a huge failure, and it sorely upset him because he had been anticipating his return to XK Intelligence Agency for a while now.

While Mark wiped his mouth with a napkin, his mannerism revealed that he was still just an ordinary kid, straightforward and spontaneous. Even though in the past few years Victor watched him grow, the boy still lacked the elegance that was often found in people from the Royal family. It was Victor's decision not to keep the child on a tight leash, allowing him to develop his own potential. Nevertheless, Mark was still heavily influenced by the extraordinary people around him.

"I don't know, either," Mark replied, still wolfing down his meal. Then he paused, his chopsticks in mid-air. Pursing his lips, he rested a hand on his chin. "If Mommy comes up with a great plan, I think she'll get her big break this time." Mark couldn't help but recall the encounter with Papa Brian today in parking lot. Taking into consideration what Prince Victor had shown him intentionally or otherwise, he started to understand, though vaguely, that something was out of reach even for Papa Brian

"Gosh!" Vincent let out a morose sigh. Having been Brian's former trusted assistant, Vincent was more than aware about what kind of person he was. In his eyes, Brian was rather detached. If he had really forgotten about Miss Molly, he would never show her mercy, regardless of any excuse for her actions. But what else was there for Vincent to do? At present, his only hope was for Molly to succeed in her plans. As Harrow had put it in simple words, this was the only way for him to return to XK Intelligence Agency.

Later that night, when everyone was asleep, a few stars gleamed in the dark sky. Looking at its vastness gave off a disconsolate impression, making a person feel like a small, insignificant dot in an ever-evolving scheme of things. Some dry leaves trembled as they were swept by the wind, causing people to feel more lonely than they wanted to admit.

The room was dark without any of the lights on. In Brian's arms Molly rested, pretending like nothing ever happened, as though she were still loved by Brian. Attracted by the sense of security that only he could provide her, she felt everything like a dream. If it were, however, Molly wished she would never wake up.

Suddenly, Brian shifted a bit behind her, signaling her that he had awakened. As though she were a thief about to be caught, her heart got stuck in the throat. At that moment, breathing felt like a chore to her.

Behind her, Brian frowned as he slowly regained consciousness. In the dark, he could see the woman lying in his arm with her back to him. His eyes, trained to see in the dark, recognized her when he saw her hair, and inhaled the distinct scent that was imprinted in his memory.

While staring at her back, Brian recalled everything that happened in the bathroom earlier. Not long ago, he had sex with Molly, and it was somewhat of a rough experience, as she wasn't even ready when he made a move on her. Perhaps it was because he fainted out of exhaustion quickly after the deed was done, or he was still subconsciously in love with her, but somehow, they ended up sleeping in bed with her in his arms.

His frown got deeper. For him, it was easy to stay in control when it came to dealing with tough problems. On the contrary, he always failed when it was Molly whom he had to face.

"Are you awake? Could you please let me go?" Molly said, trying hard to remain calm. Because she was too focused on controlling her emotions, her voice ended up sounding cold.

When Brian did not move, Molly repeated herself. This time, Brian took his arm off her slowly. He said nothing, and just stared at her.

Getting off the bed, Molly put on her dress casually. After she was done, she turned to Brian in the darkness. At this point, Brian decided to turn on the night lamp beside the bed. In the soft light, everything seemed surreal, including both their presence in the room. "Molly..." Brian began in a low voice.

"I don't understand why you treated me that way," Molly said, before Brian could continue his sentence. Staring into his eyes, she said in a tranquil voice, "But I like that. I'm so happy that you treated me that way." After a determined pause, she continued, "I know you weren't aware enough at the time. Although I don't understand that as a strong-minded person, why you decided to have sex with me then." Then she shook her in a self-deprecating manner, "I love you, Brian. And I'm willing to get back together with you again."

Taking a deep breath, Molly looked at Brian who wore a long face. "I'm leaving now. But I'll never let you go!" When she was done talking, Molly left the room without waiting for a response from him.

The man's eyes grew deeper by the second like the unfathomable sea. Unable to speak, he could only utter her name before she left. As the door closed behind her, he stared at it pointedly, as if he could see her outside.

Squinting his eyes, he creased his eyebrows and returned to his thoughts. The meal permeated her tastes, particularly the tomato and egg noodle! Although he should have recognized it, he was not sure whether it was because of an oversight on his behalf or an intentional decision not to think about it. 'She played a good trick on me. After drugging me, she had the nerve to say that? The villain sues his victim before he himself was prosecuted?' Brian thought, which got his blood boiling.

Tossing the bedsheet aside, he got off the bed and stood on his bare feet. He then grabbed the bathrobe beside the bed, and wore it on the way to the bathroom.

Outside the door, Molly leaned against the wall while gasping for air. Just now, she was filled with extreme trepidation. Brian must have known that it was her who drugged him. What could she do if Brian decided to throw her off the building? 00000☐☐☐☐☐☐
