Love Began with the First Meeting -
Chapter 762 Mark Is Bullied (Part Two)
He silently exchanged a glance with Tony, raising an eyebrow. Tony shrugged slightly, indicating that he had no clue either.
Disgruntled, he glared at Tony angrily. Tony, on the other hand, had a self-satisfied smug on his face and pretended that he didn't see Harrow's wild glare.
Last night, when Tony and Mr. Brian Long had gone back to the villa, he had overheard John inconspicuously saying that Molly was also at the villa. Judging from his expression at the time, Tony was sure that she was still in the villa. But he wasn't sure if Brian knew it or not.
Thinking back about the trick he had played on his Master Brian last night, Tony sniggered behind his back and glanced stealthily at him. But he hoped that Brian wouldn't discover what he had done. If he did, then Tony knew that he would be doomed beyond any possible return. Tony sighed silently. 'What I had done might have been a serious breach of trust, but it was the right thing to do. This is good for Mr. Brian Long, Molly and Master Mark. Vincent would agree too.' his mind raced as he thought of the consequences of his actions. "Mr. Brian Long..." Harrow's voice trailed off. He wanted to bring Brian's focus back on the work at hand. So, he called him again in a low voice, "Mr. Brian Long?"
Brian's thoughts were harshly interrupted by Harrow's voice. He threw a cold glance at Harrow, which made him freeze in his place. He gulped in fear. Looking at the report to be reviewed with a gloomy face, Harrow summed up the courage to ask hesitantly, "Mr. Brian Long, is... is there a problem with the report?" "No," Brian replied plainly.
He regained his usual composure, then quickly signed his name on the report dexterously and ordered, "Talk to Aaron about the micro-control of QY Island." "Understood," Harrow answered and received the signed report. "Mr. Brian Long, if there's nothing else, I would like to take my leave."
Brian nodded curtly and Harrow left without another word. He returned his glance to the computer screen and typed a string of password numbers onto the keyboard with his sleek fingers. He watched the activities on the screen intently and, from time to time, typed specific orders to different people.
It was noon in the blink of an eye and Tony reminded Brian that he had to go to the Grand Night Casino since an important gambling was to be held soon. It had something to do with his friend, so he wanted to be there to show his support.
After sending out the final instructions for the day, Brian turned off the XK's secret server. He got up and swiftly walked out of Emp. Tony brought around the car by the time Brian reached the entrance and he quickly got in and they drove out.
As the car glided smoothly towards the Grand Night Casino, Brian blankly stared at the scenery outside the window. His elbow was on the handrail and his long fingers supported his sculpted chin. His mind was a chaos.
Last night was a mess. He had lost all his self-control when he had seen the drunken Molly. He couldn't stop his urge and had kissed her very gently on her soft lips. He couldn't remember how long he had kissed her for. Even though the kiss was gentle and not needy, he couldn't stop it, despite the fact that he knew that he couldn't be kissed back by drunk Molly.
He thought that he could remain indifferent in her presence, but he couldn't control his inner emotions even though she had been away from him for two years. It was obvious that his self-control had no power in front of Molly.
'Mol, what am I supposed to do with you?
If you stay by my side, you will have to walk thorny roads and face endless gunfire. Your life would always be at risk. I'm terrified of losing you, and I can't dare think about the slightest possibility of living in a world without you. Pushing you away like that... I didn't want to, but I had no other choice. I might be a coward. But compared to losing you forever, I would rather cowardly push you away from me, 'Brian thought bitterly.
His eyes shrank and became lifeless at the thought of living away from her. At that moment, the car drove past a group of children. One of the children caught Brian's attention. He sat upright in his backseat. 'Was that Mark?' he wondered. Startled, he looked back at the children, and saw a few children pushing a small child in a blue down jacket. The child looked like Mark.
"Tony! Stop the car!" Brian burst out, desperately wanting to see if Mark was being bullied.
The car stopped with a screeching sound, in the middle of the road. Tony hadn't even bothered to move to the side before stopping. Angry honks and screams were heard from all around them as dissatisfied drivers stopped one after the other behind them. Ignoring the angry people on the road, Brian got out of the car and stood beside the open door. He looked at the children carefully and he knew at once that the little boy in the blue down jacket was indeed his son.
"Accept it! You don't have a dad," a chubby little boy said loudly and pushed Mark to the ground, "I guess you simply popped out of nowhere, huh?"
"He popped out of nowhere! Ha-ha-ha!" the other children joined in and laughed at Mark.
"Yeah, he doesn't have a mom either," a cute little girl said. She looked sympathetically at Mark who had fallen to the ground. "I saw him sitting all alone near the flower bed in his apartment last night. He was just sitting there all night. And he was alone in the morning too." Mark's clothes had become dirty, but he didn't care. He stood up, looked bravely at the five children in front of him and bellowed, "Nonsense! I have both mommy and daddy!"
The children laughed loudly. "No, you don't! You are lying!" the children retorted at once.
Mark pouted his lips and huffed, "I have them both!"
"Then where are they? How come we never see either of them?" the chubby boy sniggered and asked. "You obviously don't have parents."
"I do!" Mark retorted and clenched his little fists. "My mommy is at work and my dad... My dad..." Mark looked like he wanted to say something about his dad, but he couldn't. He bit his lips and slowly lowered his head.
"See, you don't even know where your dad is now. You are the naughty boy no one wants!" the chubby kid laughed a little too loudly. He looked at Mark haughtily and pushed him again. "You're an unwanted kid. We won't play with you. Let's go!" The other children turned to leave. Being pushed harshly, Mark couldn't replace his footing. He stumbled backwards. He tried to stabilize his body, but couldn't. He exclaimed as he lost his balance and fell backwards, "Ah!" But instead of hitting the hard ground, he fell into the embrace of a man. The other children stopped moving and looked at the man in front of them, without blinking. At first, they didn't understand who he was or where he had come from all of a sudden.
Mark looked at the big hands that were holding him firmly in place, then looked up and met Brian's deep eyes. His eyes brightened and he said, "Unc-" He was about to call him 'uncle', but he immediately swallowed the rest of the word and exclaimed with twinkling eyes, "Dad!"
Brian froze. He stared at Mark in shock, then a moment later, he realized that his little boy was trying to cope with the current situation he was facing with the other kids. But hearing Mark call him 'Dad' made him feel more satisfied than ever. Past memories came flashing back to him. He still remembered that when Mark was much younger, he would always call him 'Papa Brian'. The memories were still fresh, as if it had happened only yesterday.
"Look! He really has a dad!" the little girl exclaimed, startled. She pointed at Brian and said excitedly in a sweet voice, "His dad is so handsome... He's so handsome!" She couldn't replace any more words to describe her feelings.
"You... You really do have a dad," the chubby little boy who had pushed Mark earlier said hastily, pouting his lips and scratching his head, kind of feeling sorry for what he had just done.
Mark stood up from Brian's embrace with his chin up and said proudly, "Of course, I have a dad!" Then he stood beside Brian and grabbed his big hand. With a giant smile, he said, "This is my dad. Isn't he cool?"
The other kids nodded one after another. They looked at Mark with envy in their eyes and then looked at his dad again. I
