Love beyond the mask ( Whitney ) -
Chapter 352
Half an hour later, an unexpected figure appeared.
Whitney had been waiting for Jarvis to return to the hotel with a woman, but instead, Elaine showed up! She was heavily disguised, unrecognizable from her appearance alone, but she was followed by a maid, Lyra, whom Whitney recognized.
Interesting...
Whitney immediately got up and dashed out of the pub, heading across the street.
"Hey, why are you leaving me here..." Orion's complaining voice trailed off behind her.
-
Across the street, Whitney cautiously approached Elaine's car. A low-key BMW, not the flashy model she usually drove. Equally discreet was the five-star hotel they entered, which Whitney found to be famously 'romantic' upon a quick search.
She narrowed her eyes as she saw Elaine, heavily disguised, enter the lobby, with Lyra picking up a key card from the front desk. The two then familiarly headed for the elevator.
Whitney sneaked in, noticing the elevator stopped at the 10th, 12th, 16th, and 18th floors, continuing upwards.
She chuckled coldly, approached the front desk, and asked, "Where's your VIP presidential suite located? I'm a bit afraid of heights and considering it for my stay."
Thinking she was a guest, the front desk clerk replied, "Good evening, our presidential suite is on the 16th floor."
"Thank you."
Whitney quickly stepped aside and called Tiana, "Tiana, can you hack into the 16th floor's hallway surveillance of the Crystaline Hotel? I need it now!"
"I'll see what I can do. Why, is Jarvis on the 16th floor? Did he bring a woman back? That woman is... Holy smokes!"
With a few taps, the surveillance feed popped up, momentarily blinding Tiana with its revelation.
Her shock was all Whitney needed to know things were getting interesting.
"Got it? Send it to me live."
"Whitney, this is some juicy secret... You won't believe..."
Tiana shrieked, transferring the bar's surveillance feed to Whitney's phone.
In the luxurious hallway, Elaine rushed out of the elevator, impatiently knocking on a door. Then, Jarvis appeared with a devilish grin, Elaine jumping into his arms as they entered the room, hardly able to keep her hands off him in the hallway. "Man, I didn't see Elaine being this wild. How long has Ludwik been starving her, she's like a famished wolf jumping at food."
"Wrong focus. The real question is, how did she get involved with Jarvis?"
Whitney smirked.
"Judging by how familiar she is with the place, clearly this isn't her first rendezvous with Jarvis!"
"Yup." Whitney leaned against the wall, taking a deep breath with a smile. "A pleasant surprise. Following the kidnapping case, I knew there was some connection between Jarvis and Elaine. But an affair? This has been going on for a while, so Jarvis must've helped Elaine plan the kidnapping."
"Holy cow, Elaine has been cheating on Ludwik this long, does that scumbag even know? Probably clueless, which is why Elaine's been having such a blast behind his back. She's crafty, marrying the billionaire powerhouse Mr. Lippert, and feasting with Jarvis on the side. Hey, was Ludwik really that bad for her? How did he manage five rounds in one night with you..."
That last comment left Whitney coughing, abruptly cutting off the gossiper, and picking up with a smirk, "Tiana, dig up all the evidence of their affair. Now that we've caught them, we can't let them off. Gather everything, including hotel surveillance. I've got a big wedding gift for Elaine."
Tiana, thrilled by the plan, "I thought you were really letting go, allowing them to marry smoothly."
"I've let go. But a smooth wedding, blessing Elaine? Not in her wildest dreams. There's progress in the kidnapping case. Perhaps on the wedding day, Ludwik will see his bride's true colors."
"Yeah, she's been fooling Ludwik behind a mask for too long. It's time for her facade to crumble!"
Tiana rubbed her hands, getting to work.
-
Whitney pocketed her phone and stepped away from the pillar, leaving the hotel. In the dimly lit square, she bumped into Ludwik, with Orion trailing behind him. What's going on here?
She was perplexed.
But the man with the cold features grabbed her wrist harshly, glancing darkly at the hotel a few meters behind her, "Who were you planning to get a room with?"
"... Come on, you've got the wrong cheater here.
Whitney looked at Ludwik, speechless.
"Big bro, she was obviously going with me. I told her to pick a room first while I had a couple of drinks, then you show up..."
"Shut it. You think she'd fancy you?" Ludwik disdainfully glanced at Orion.
Orion blinked, "What's wrong with me? I'm at least single! Unlike some about-to-be-married divorcee."
"... Ludwik.
Whitney rolled her eyes at the meddlesome Orion, her gaze inadvertently catching Ludwik's, sparking an unspoken thought.
"What are you looking at?" he snapped.
Whitney sighed internally, thinking about the metaphorical greenery sprouting on Ludwik's head.
Your fiancée is busy in a hotel room ten meters away, rolling in the sheets with another man...
Of course, she planned to keep this delightful surprise for the wedding day.
With a forced smile, Whitney deliberately avoided mentioning the hotel and quickly walked back to the pub.
Yet, she was again stopped by Ludwik, his anger palpable. "Back to drinking? Want to drink yourself to death? Go home. Hanging out with random men after work, do you realize the bad example you're setting for Danny?" Whitney laughed off the absurdity.
Turning to face him with a bright, challenging look, she retorted, "Could any example be worse than Mr. Lippert's? Don't worry, with your history of affairs and living with a mistress, Danny will understand his single mom pursuing romance." "You're planning to pursue men?" Ludwik darkened, the thought of her remarrying infuriating him. He burst out, "A woman should prioritize her child, not daydream about love and marriage!"
"
Speechless. Even Orion was stunned, witnessing how power could blind.
Man, talk about double standards.
He grimaced, "Ludwik, you do know the law allows a woman the freedom to divorce and remarry, right?"
"Why haven't you taken a hike yet?" The man glanced over with disdain.
Whitney simply gave up on trying to communicate with this jerk, tugging at Orion's sleeve, "Forget him, let's go grab some late-night snacks."
"...Dare to ignore me?" Ludwik gritted his teeth.
Yet, all he was left with was her retreating back.
He found himself following them, something he had never done before, the very thought making his heart heavy with unease.
Stopping in front of a barbecue stand, Whitney's eyes sparkled with hunger, "Let's eat here."
Before Orion could respond, Ludwik's face darkened, "What's so good about this junk?"
The BBQ stand owner looked up in confusion.
Orion couldn't help but snort, "Mate, he's not with us."
Whitney added, "Right, we don't know him."
"Honey, even if you're mad, you can't just side with some random guy over me, can you?" Suddenly, Ludwik's icy voice cut through.
The BBQ stand owner was shocked once more, throwing curious glances at the trio, eventually fixing his gaze on Whitney.
Whitney's face turned beet red, shooting the man a glare. Did he have no shame at all?
