Whitney dashed downstairs as if her life depended on it.

Sitting in the car, she couldn't calm down. Her phone buzzed several times.

Trembling, she checked it, "Breaking news: an hour ago, Hudson Sheldon, CEO of Sheldon Group, was shot while driving. He has been rushed to the hospital in critical condition, fighting for his life. According to reports from the scene, the shooting and resulting car crash were horrific. The stock market is expected to take a hit..."

Whitney's hands were drenched in cold sweat.

She and Hudson had only recently discovered their father-daughter relationship, but they clicked instantly. From initial resistance, Whitney had grown to respect and lean on Hudson.

And Hudson had done everything within his power to protect her in the Sheldon family, always putting her first.

She couldn't bear losing such a father...

As the argument escalated, Jared Sheldon, the patriarch, intervened with a stern command for silence, his heart heavy with grief.

After hours of agonizing wait, the doctor emerged with grim news. Hudson was alive but in a vegetative state, with slim chances of awakening.

The family broke down, each processing the news in their own way, with Holly vowing to stay by Hudson's side, while Whitney insisted on taking over his care, citing her medical knowledge and determination to replace the best treatment for him.

Holly objected vehemently, questioning Whitney's qualifications and motives, but Whitney stood her ground, determined to do whatever it took for her father.

"You know those international experts? Well, Florence does too. But can you actually get them on board? In the end, isn't it the Sheldon family who'll have to foot the bill? You, being utterly useless, shouldn't be stirring the pot at a time like this. And let's not forget, your mom stole my husband when they were young.
