Love Blooms In Prenups By Lydia Onions Chapter 20

Chapter 20

The man abruptly burst out laughing boisterously before his mouth twitched.

When lan realized what was going on and shot forward pry open his mouth, it was already too late. The other man had already bitten off his tongue.

“You can’t. Before he could even finish his sentence, he was dead.

“Fuck! He’s so loyal, lan thought. “Ive already removed all of the dangerous items on him when I brought him back. I even found and took out the poison hidden in his mouth. He has already endured the torment for so long, so who knew he was going to end his life so suddenly?”

lan then checked him over again, but he could not replace a single clue at all.

“Mr. Rick?” lan then turned to the man seated on the main seat, asking for further instructions.

The man then rose to his feet and walked away from his seat.

After stopping in front of the body, he lifted his foot and used the tip of his shoe to part the dead man’s clothes.

There was something imprinted on the body’s chest. lan froze, and in the next second, he leaned over to tear his clothes. away. Immediately, a scorpion tattoo on the dead man’s chest appeared in their lines of sight.

However, it was not an ordinary scorpion tattoo. Near the end of the scorpion’s tail was an eye, and it was as if the eye was watching the ones staring at it.

When lan realized that he had not found that clue despite being the one to bring the man back, he immediately asked for forgiveness from Maverick.

“Mr. Rick. I haven’t done my job well. I’m willing to receive any kind of punishment for my mistake.”

Nevertheless, the man did not blame him for it. He retracted his foot, and, immediately, one of his subordinates stepped. forward with a towel to wipe his shoes clean.

The man stared at his polished shoe with his deep blue eyes, seemingly lost in his thoughts. Seconds later, a sneer appeared. on his lips.

“Copy the tattoo and send the drawing to Spectrum. Have them look into this pattern and replace out which organizations have used it in the past. The truth will be revealed eventually.”

“Understood.” Ian then summoned one of his subordinates to instruct them on their task.

Soon, some of the people came over to take photos of the tattoo and drew the pattern on paper. Once they were done with that, lan hesitated, mulling over how he should deal with the dead man.

As he stared at the corpse, who permanently had a ferocious look on, he wondered if he should throw the body to feed the wolves or use it as a warning to the mastermind behind the dead man’s actions.

“Mr. Rick, what do I do with this man?”

The man’s gaze was dark and mysterious, and it was fixed on the body on the ground.

Then, a frigid look flickered past his eyes.

“Throw him away. A pawn like him is no more important than a stray dog to them.”

“Understood.”

“You, and you, come here.” Ian pointed to the two subordinates standing by the doorway,

“Mr. Rick. Stanny, Mr. lan. The subordinates greeted them all.

“Drag this out and feed it to the group of darlings at the back of the mountain.”

Thus, the subordinates clad in black dragged the body away, leaving a trail of blood behind.

Once they were out of Tartarus‘ place, someone else brought a pail of water to clean up the floor.

Soon, the inside of the place returned to normal. It was as if the terrifying scene earlier never happened at all.

“Tan, Tartarus does things quite swiftly, huh?” Stanley said to lan as he looked at the clean room.

“Stanny, you must be joking!”

“If there’s nothing else, I’ll leave first. Try not to look for me if there’s nothing important.”

“Mr. Rick, don’t be in such a hurry to leave. It’s rare for you to come here, and the men are all waiting to learn a thing or two from you.”

Ian did not want to let the opportunity slip by him, for he had promised his comrades that Maverick would give them guidance.

“I have something to work on.” There were barely any emotions in his cold voice.

“It’s still early in the day. Mr. Rick, it won’t be too late if you leave after lunch.” Ian insisted.

“I need to go back to keep a difficult someone company. I’ll be back when it’s time for the next assessment.”

“A difficult someone? Who’s that?” lan wondered.

He was confused, and he simply could not wrap his mind around Maverick’s reply.

Nevertheless, Maverick did not care whether or not he understood what he meant as he strode off.

As lan watched Maverick leave, he quickly grabbed Stanley, who was about to leave the place as well.

“Stanny, what’s going on?”

The corners of Stanley’s eyes twitched. Even he was surprised by Maverick’s words, for he could not believe that Maverick, the personification of an iceberg, would say such things.

Hence, he shook his head and patted Ian’s shoulders. “Ian, if you have the time, you should head back to Cloud Mansion for

a visit.”

That was all he said before exiting the place, leaving behind a perplexed Jan.

“Why should I visit Cloud Mansion? It can’t be that Mr. Rick has kept a lady there, right? Seriously, Stanny, why are you speaking in riddles nowadays? Killing someone is so much easier than deciphering his puzzles, lan thought with a sigh.

It was dozens of minutes later when Maverick’s car drove out of Avalon. Half an hour after that, they finally reached the normal roads outside.

“Stanny. I think someone’s tailing us.”

The driver’s voice rang out in the silent interior of the car. When Stanley, who was sitting in the passenger seat, heard him.

eyes flitted toward the rearview mirror.

his

“Mr. Rick, as far as I can see, there are five cars behind with an unknown number of people.”

The man in the backseat had his eyes shut as he parted his thin lips and coldly instructed, “Drive toward the road without. anyone around.”

“Understood, the driver replied. He then turned the steering wheel and changed their path.

The cars at the back followed closely. It seemed like they knew that they had been found out, so they began rushing toward Maverick’s car.

To stop Maverick’s car, they even recklessly tried to crash into them.

It was a fierce car chase.

Beads of sweat had appeared on the driver’s forehead as he slammed his foot on the accelerator.

After a while, the ones tailing them realized that they could not catch up. Hence, one of their people stuck half of their body out of the car window and began firing at Maverick’s car.

As Maverick’s car was modified, their bullets could not pierce through the windows. Therefore, the other party turned their targets to the wheels.

The driver kept turning the steering wheel and swerving the car from side to side to dodge the bullets. Stanley then took out a silver handgun from his waist and lowered the car window. Once the chance presented itself, he fired a round at the wheel of the nearest car behind them.

Immediately, the tire went flat. The car lost its balance and ended up crashing into the forest by the side.

When a man with a scar on his face saw that, he fumed. “Hurry up and catch up with them! If we can’t end Maverick’s life today, we’ll be the ones dead!”

Thus, their driver stamped on the accelerator harder and sped up.

Bang! After that loud noise, the driver’s forehead crashed against the steering wheel, and the car slowed down.

At that, the scarred man leaned forward to open the door to the driver’s seat and shoved the driver off before sitting on it. Stanley was a good shot, and soon, there were only two cars left behind them.

“Stanny, we’ve reached a dead end.”

Upon hearing that, Stanley went back inside the car. Two hundred meters ahead of them was a dead end, and they were surrounded by forests on both sides. There was nowhere for them to go.

They only had two options – leave the car and flee, or stop and confront them.

Maverick would certainly choose the second option.

Chapter 20

“Stop the car. The man, who had his eyes closed the entire time, finally opened them. There was nothing but ruthlessness in his eyes, and his voice even made the temperature around him drop.

Heeding his words, the driver stopped the car. The two cars behind them soon came to a stop ten meters away from them as

well.

Then, the scarred man instructed his subordinates to get out of the car. There were nine people in total, and each of them had a gun in their hands.

The scarred man then gleefully bellowed, “Maverick Mills. Come out here and beg for mercy, and I’ll leave your body in one piece!”

When the man in the car heard that, he sneered and opened the car door.

“Mr. Rick.”
