Love Comes To Me
Chapter 269: The Truth About Five Years Ago

Josh Thompson is telling the truth, his sister-in-law does dislike the father.

Rupert Rogers pondered for a moment before speaking, "Okay, I'm sure you didn't help my sister-in-law leave. But you can't say you didn't know about what happened five years ago." "I ..."

"Wait, I'm not done yet." Rupert Rogers raised his hand to stop Josh Thompson from going on.

A bad feeling came over him and Josh Thompson looked at him uneasily.

Rupert Rogers suddenly smiled, "I forgot to tell you, my bodyguards here are highly trained to hit people without external injuries, only internal ones."

It was like he was talking about something so commonplace, but to Josh Thompson it sounded like a naked warning.

Josh Thompson's eyes rolled uneasily before he put an ingratiating smile on his face and said, "Mr Rupert, let's talk, I'll explain whatever you want me to explain."

Rupert Rogers gave a satisfied look, "If only you had done this earlier, it would have saved me all the trouble of tying you up."

"Mr Rupert, what do you want to know?" Josh Thompson asked.

"Is it true that my sister-in-law had a child out of wedlock?"

Rupert Rogers also took a chance, thinking that it might just be someone maligning his sister-in-law.

"Oops!" Josh Thompson sighed.

Rupert Rogers frowned, "What are you sighing about?"

"I just feel ashamed that I'm not raising my daughter properly as a father." Josh Thompson ducked his head in "shame", just in time to hide the glint in his eyes. Rupert Rogers sneered, "Don't be a hypocrite now, answer me now, is it true?"

"Yes, it's true."

It was confirmed to be true, and Rupert Rogers couldn't talk about how he felt about coming.

He went on to ask, "Why? How old was my sister-in-law back then, how could she be unmarried and have children, there must be some reason, right?"

"What reason could there be, it's not about the money."

Josh Thompson's tone became dismissive as he thought about the incident that disgraced the Thompson family back then, and it felt like he was talking about a stranger rather than his own daughter.

"For money?" Rupert Rogers frowned at the thought, thinking it unlikely that was the reason, "My sister-in-law doesn't seem like the type of person who loves vanity, how could she sell herself out for money?"

Josh Thompson suddenly became agitated as if he was being poked, "Of course she's not being vain, she just wants the Thompson family to lose face and for me to lose face as a father." Rupert Rogers always felt that it wasn't that simple.

He looked askance at the agitated Josh Thompson and leapt to his feet, pacing all the way up to Josh Thompson, looking down at him out of the corner of his eye, "Josh Thompson, I for one hate it when someone lies to me, and you better be telling the truth or I'll make you and the Thompson family pay."

The calmness of the voice was thick with warning.

Josh Thompson was too sheepish to look at him, "I ... am certainly telling the truth."

His weakness was seen by Rupert Rogers and his eyes narrowed instantly with a hint of danger as he barked in a cold, hard tone, "Josh Thompson, it seems you're not taking my words seriously!"

Josh Thompson shuddered in fear and hurriedly explained, "Mr Rupert, I ..."

Before the words could come out, I saw Rupert Rogers raise his voice and shout, "Come in, you." Two bodyguards walked in.

At the sight of the bouncer, Josh Thompson panicked, "Mr Rupert, what are you trying to do?"

Rupert Rogers hooked his lips in a sneer and asked him in return, "What do you think I want to do?"

The bodyguard walked up to him and bowed his head respectfully, "Mr Rupert."

"You tell him what I always do to people who cheat me."

"Yes."

Bodyguards close in on Josh Thompson.

The latter had a scared look on his face and his mouth begged for mercy: "Mr Rupert, we're both civilised people, let's talk properly."

This comment completely enraged Rupert Rogers, turning his head and snapping at him, "Josh Thompson, I was trying to be nice with you, but you had to lie to me, do you really think I'm easy to fool if I don't teach you a lesson?" "Mr Rupert, I'm not lying to you!" Josh Thompson was so anxious he was crying.

Rupert Rogers didn't bother with him and sternly ordered, "Do it!"

At a signal, two bouncers grabbed Josh Thompson and slammed him hard to the ground.

Josh Thompson bared his teeth in pain and was just about to say something when he saw the bouncer's fist come down on him.

Frightened, he closed his eyes and shouted, "I'll say it! I'll say anything!"

"Stop it!"

Rupert Rogers stopped the bouncer just in time.

Josh Thompson fell to the ground like a deflated ball.

Scared... scared him to death!

If that punch had come down, his old bones wouldn't have been able to withstand it.

"Get him up."

Rupert Rogers watched as the bouncer helped the man to his feet before he spoke out in warning, "Josh Thompson, you better tell the truth this time or their fists won't be so easy to put away."

"I know, I know." Josh Thompson kept nodding his head.

How dare he lie again, unless his life is at stake?

"Back then Eloise's mother was very ill and needed a large sum of money, Eloise came to me for it, I didn't give it and she had no choice but to sell herself out and go and work as a surrogate for someone." So that's the truth.

Rupert Rogers was shocked.

How helpless must my sister-in-law have been back then to make that choice.

It also shows how much of a brute Josh Thompson is as a father.

No!

Not even a beast!

It is no wonder that his sister-in-law has such a bad relationship with the Thompson family, which would have made an absolute mess of the Thompson family if he had been in his place.

The more Rupert Rogers thought about it, the angrier he got, he came forward with an arrow and threw his fist at Josh Thompson.

Josh Thompson fell to his feet.

"Ouch, that hurts, that hurts!" Josh Thompson wailed.

Rupert Rogers twirled his wrist and snorted, "Pain? You can't make up for the pain my sister-in-law suffered back then!"

The thought of his sister-in-law being pushed to such a desperate state by a girl made him angry and he couldn't resist kicking Josh Thompson in the face.

Josh Thompson grimaced in pain, "Mr Rupert, give me a break."

Feeling that this had to be told to his brother immediately, Rupert Rogers turned to his bodyguard and said, "Give him a good beating and send him home again." "Yes."

At that, Josh Thompson's face instantly turned white as paper and he hurriedly begged for mercy, "Mr Rupert, be merciful and let me go."

Rupert Rogers ignored it and left without a backward glance.

The two bodyguards exchanged glances before moving closer to Josh Thompson, and the large room resounded with the sound of miserable wailing.

...

"Brother, I have something very important to tell you. Where are you? I'm coming over to you."

Rupert Rogers was driving and calling Hector Rogers.

"Home." Hector Rogers on the other side of the phone spat out two words coldly.

"Okay, I'll be there now."

Rupert Rogers hung up the phone, tossed it in the passenger seat, then hit the steering wheel and turned around, driving swiftly towards the Rogers family villa. Hector Rogers opened his phone album, which contained photos of him and Eloise taking Solomon out the other day.

In the photo, Eloise and Solomon are laughing so hard they can barely see out of their eyes.

The heart, unbidden, aches.

Eloise, where the hell are you?
