Love Comes To Me
Chapter 279: Ransom

Kidnapping?

Hector Rogers frowned, he had thought of the same thing as himself.

A child who is only five years old, so many people are looking for him, they are looking all over City J, and there is no sign of him. The only explanation for that is that it was taken away.

Whether it was a kidnapping, or a kind acceptance, is another story.

"Brother, say something." Rupert Rogers yelled on the other end of the phone.

He snapped back to his senses and said in a quiet voice, "Look again, and if you still can't replace it, call the police."

"But it hasn't been 24 hours, are the police accepting it?"

"Will do."

Hector Rogers hung up the phone and looked soberly ahead; if it was a kidnapping, the kidnappers would have called by this time.

Around 10pm, the Rogers family's phone rang suddenly and loudly, startling Hector's parents.

"Who else is going to call at this late hour?" Hector's mother muttered in wonder.

The butler there had picked up the phone, "Hello, Rogers family. who is it please?"

"We have the child, and if you want it to be safe and sound, you will pay for it."

An eerie voice came from the other side of the phone, the housekeeper's face instantly turned as white as paper, his eyes staring up at Hector's mother who approached him, "Ma'am, something's happened...!" Hector's mother saw the look on his face and hurriedly grabbed the phone, "Hello, is this Solomon?"

"We have the child in our hands..."

At these words, Hector's mother's face went white and she shouted in an emotional voice, "Who are you? What the hell are you trying to do to Solomon?"

Seeing this, Hector's father hurried over to him, "What's wrong? What's wrong?"

Hector's mother put the phone down with a dull look on her face, her mind full of the other man's words.

"The child is safe now, we just need the money, and once the money is there, the child will go back safely. On the contrary, hey, you should know what will happen to the child. Remember, don't call the police or you will never see the child again."

"What's going on?" Hector's father asked again, anxiously.

"Master, the young master has been kidnapped." The butler at one side whispered.

"Kidnapped?" Hector's father's face instantly changed, "How could he have been kidnapped? Solomon is not ..."

Before the words could be finished, the butler was heard to exclaim, "Madam!"

...

Hector Rogers and Rupert Rogers headed home as soon as they got the news.

What they had feared had happened anyway.

Back at home, the family doctor is examining Hector's mother.

"There is nothing serious wrong with Mrs Matriarch, it was a mental stimulus and a moment of excitement that caused the fainting spell."

The doctor's words put everyone's hearts at ease.

"Mrs Matriarch has high blood pressure herself and it's best not to get her emotional again or she might not be so lucky next time."

After seeing the doctor off, the Rogers family, father and son, went to the study.

"Dad, did the kidnappers say anything?" Rupert Rogers was the first to ask.

"Your mother answered the phone, I'm not sure exactly what was said." Hector's father said with a stony face.

Now that the man had fainted again, it was not clear for a moment what the kidnapper had said.

"What else can you say but that you want money."

Hector Rogers' stern gaze swept over Hector's father and Rupert Rogers as he continued, "If the kidnappers only wanted money, that would be a good solution, but I'm afraid they're desperate people who want money as well as life." On hearing this, both Hector's father and Rupert Rogers tensed up.

"Then what should we do? Is there nothing else we can do but pay for the ransom?"

Rupert Rogers now regrets that he could have stopped Solomon in time if he had come back quicker.

Hector Rogers was silent for a few seconds before two words came out of his mouth, "Call the police." "You can't call the police."

A voice rang out from the doorway and father and son turned their heads to look over.

It is Hector's mother.

She had woken up at some point and was now standing in the doorway.

"Mom."

Rupert Rogers rushed up to help her, "Why aren't you lying down? What are you doing up?"

"If I don't get up, how do I know you're going to call the police?" Hector's mother glared at him.

"No police, or what? Send the money in good faith?" Rupert Rogers could not understand his mother's thinking.

"Mom, did the kidnapper say something?" Hector Rogers asked.

"The kidnappers said they couldn't call the police or we wouldn't see Solomon!"

At the mention of this, Hector's mother's eyes rolled up and she almost passed out again.

Hector's father rushed up and pinched her, his brow furrowed, "Can't you just stay in bed, Hector and Rupert will figure out what to do about Solomon."

"Solomon's been kidnapped and I can't lie anywhere!" Hector's mother couldn't help crying out.

"You guys say he's such a little boy, he's never been away from us, you say how scared he must be right now!"

Listening to her sobs, the three men present were not feeling well.

"Brother, what now?" Rupert Rogers asked.

Hector Rogers' gaze sank, "Wait for a call from the kidnappers."

It was almost 12 o'clock when the kidnapper called again

This time the kidnappers offered a specific amount of money for ransom.

200 million.

Rupert Rogers jumped up at once, "200 million? Do the kidnappers think we run a bank? Just 200 million at random?"

"Give! Even if it's two billion!"

In Hector's mother's mind, the child was more important than money, and she would have given away the entire family fortune if the child had returned safely.

"Mum!" Rupert Rogers looked at his mother somewhat helplessly, "Mum, you know Mum? The money, the Rogers family has it. But all that money is in investments, and it's not that simple to get $200 million out of it temporarily."

"I don't care, anyway, you must replace a way to get the 200 million together and hand it over before the time set by the kidnappers."

When Hector's mother saw their faces, she was overcome with sadness, "Is money more important to you all than Solomon?"

Faced with his mother's accusations, Rupert Rogers cried out, "Mum, that's not what we meant, we were just trying to figure out how to get the money together."

Hector Rogers furrowed his brows in contemplation for a moment, then said, "Rupert, you go and get the money ready."

"Brother, you're really going to pay for this?" Rupert Rogers looked at him incredulously.

The way his brother was, there was no way he would just let the kidnappers get away with it.

Hector Rogers raised his eyes and looked at him coldly, asking instead of answering, "Or what? You have a better idea?" "No."

Rupert Rogers rubbed his nose in a sarcastic manner.

"I'll go and prepare the money then."

Rupert Rogers turned to leave when Hector Rogers suddenly said, "I'll go with you."

"Huh?" Rupert Rogers looked at him quizzically.

"To the office."

As he passed by, Hector Rogers whispered.

Rupert Rogers then reacted that his brother was planning to come to the office to settle the matter.

After all, at home there are still mums and dads around to tie up their hands and do things.

"Dad, Mum, you'll just stay at home and soon Solomon will be back."

Having said that, Rupert Rogers rushed after Hector Rogers.
