Chapter 304

When Savanna received a call from Leo, she was in great anxiety. Leo said that he would accompany her to the northwest to replace Brandon, and Savanna sent her location to Leo without saying anything.

Rex and Seth finally arrived at the place where Brandon and the others had an accident. There were several broken by the gurgling stream, and traces of fighting could be seen.

Clearly, Brandon and the others had been attacked there.

Seth and Rex led a group of people to search the surroundings for several hours, but they still could not replace Brandon and Jim.

As time passed, Seth became more anxious. "Dr. Barton, do you think who wants to kill Mr. Young?"

Rex replied, "Many people want to take his life. When he first took over the Cassel Group, he had many enemies because of his tough methods. Besides, they might also be Mrs. Young's rivals. Brandon and Mrs. Young have similar temperaments. To expand the Cassel Group, they can't avoid offending other people. This is a rare opportunity, and how can their enemies miss it?"

Seth thought it was true. In the past few years, he had seen many people who wanted to kill Lorena. Moreover, the arson case of the Young family still remained unsolved.

Rex patted Seth on the shoulder and urged, "Let's stop guessing. Now, we have to replace Brandon first. I'm worried..."

Rex was afraid of missing something.

Seth nodded.

"Blood."

Seth saw blood stains on the leaves of a bush and hurried over.

Following the blood-stained leaves, Seth led the way, and Rex and the others followed behind.

On the mountainside, a broken church was right in front of them.

And their arrival disturbed the crow on a big tree in front of the church.

The crow fled away in panic.

Hearing the sound of footsteps. Jim, who was out to fetch water, quickly hid behind a tree.

He looked out and reached for the gun in his arms. Then he suddenly paused.

Jim exclaimed, "Seth, Dr. Barton."

Seth and Rex saw Jim and immediately relaxed. When Rex saw that Jim was limping, he hurriedly asked, "Where is Brandon?"

"He's inside." Jim pointed at the ruined church.

Rex rushed into the church. Under the several polished statues, there was a pile of straw, and

several people were lying on it.

The one in the middle was Brandon.

Rex immediately rushed over, grabbed Brandon's hand, and felt his pulse.

After taking the pulse, Rex untied Brandon's coat. Along wound stretched from Brandon's left shoulder to his right abdomen. The wound was sprinkled with herbs, which were stuck with dark blood stains. The wound was slightly swollen.

The herbs could not stop the poison from spreading. If Rex arrived a bit late, he was afraid that Brandon would have died.

Rex began to observe Brandon. Brandon's eyes were tightly closed, and his brows deeply furrowed, his lips pale. From that, Rex judged that Brandon should be unconscious and might not know that they had

come.

Rex opened the medicine box and took out the scalpel that had been sterilized. He asked Seth and

Jim to go out and then immediately cut the wound on Brandon's chest with the scalpel to detoxify.

Half an hour passed. It was not until the blood on Brandon's wound turned red that Rex heaved a sigh of relief and bandaged Brandon's wound.

After Rex finished dealing with Brandon's injuries, he began to treat the other three men, who were also seriously injured.

Jim was lucky, and only his calf was shot. After Brandon was attacked, Jim summoned up his courage to dig out the bullet from his calf with a knife.

After Rex dealt with Jim's injury, he smiled and said, "Jim, you are reaily good. You dare to use a knife, but you are not infected. I admire you."

Jim said, "At midnight, we were ambushed by a group of evil people. If we did not react fast enough, we would have died. Because their target was Mr. Young, they first attacked Mr. Young. We were awakened by the sound of fighting. Mr. Young was injured. After fighting with them for a while, we quickly protected Mr. Young and escaped to this broken church. Fortunately, we contacted Seth.

Otherwise, the consequences would be unimaginable."

Rex asked, "That group of people didn't chase after you?"

"Yes. But we got rid of them. There were about a dozen people who wore masks. I don't recognize any of them."

After about an hour, Brandon slowly woke up. He was still dizzy, and his mind was a mess.

Rex's voice came from outside.

Brandon looked down at the gauze on his chest and sensed the smell of disinfectant. He finally

heaved a sigh of relief.

He endured the pain in his chest and shouted, "Rex."

Rex immediately came in and met Brandon's lifeless gaze. He joked, "You are so lucky. Such a long wound can't kill you."

Brandon said, "Are you a dog? You can hear me even when I shout so softly."

Rex laughed. "If I can't hear you, you will be in trouble. If I am a bit late, you will really go to see Yama."

Seeing that Brandon was still able to chat with him, Rex deduced that Brandon had recovered quite well.

Rex said more loudly, "You're willing to give up your life for love. I'm impressed."

Knowing that Rex was mocking him, Brandon was not to be outdone. "You actually look down upon love. I curse that one day, you will be beaten up badly by your love."

Rex said, "I've told my mom that I'm a bachelor for the rest of my life. Look at you, Brandon. You've made yourself half-dead. I'm really afraid of women."

Brandon smiled, "That's because you haven't been in love. When you meet the woman you like, you won't say that."

Afraid that those bad guys would come back to them, Rex inquired about Brandon's opinion. "Are we going down now? It's not safe here."

"No. Let's go forward. Before I fainted, I checked. If we go forward for several miles, we will reach Cloud Church."

It turned out that Brandon had thought it through early.

To go to Cloud Church, he could give up his life.

Love was great.

Rex sighed. "Alright, I'll do as you say. You're really devoted to love."

In Cloud Church, the courtyard was clean, and there was not even a piece of leaf on the ground.

Brandon and the others walked up the steps and saw a fat puritan wearing a red robe in the main hall. The fat puritan was sitting in the middle with his eves closed, muttering be praying.

Looking at the solemn hall, no one dared to disturb the puritan. A young puritan walked past them, and Jim stopped him.

"Excuse me. We had a long journey and came there with great difficulty to meet Mr. Andrew Jones. Please help us."

The young puritan glanced at everyone. Finally, his gaze fell on Brandon. He lowered his head and bowed.

"Please wait a moment."

After he finished speaking, the young puritan slowly walked into the main hall. He moved closer to the fat puritan and whispered. The fat puritan sat still for a moment, and then he finished praying. He opened his eyes, and his sharp gaze swept toward the group of people at the door.

He looked at Brandon in the end.
