Chapter 330 Mom and Dad May Still Be Alive

Hailey took the model airplane to the machine room to have it polished, and only after thinking it wascompletely perfect, did she have someone send it over to Saul with an enclosed card that read, [Youscratch my back, and I’ll scratch yours. –Hailey.] hoping that he would like it. Staying in Magic Castleand unable to go out, she had to replace a way to amuse herself. Maybe afraid that his younger sisterwould be bored to stay alone, Karl didn’t go to work but stayed at home today. Hailey casually walkedinto the kitchen, intending to make something yummy for Karl.

Magic Castle was very large both in size and staff scale, and its chefs of top-level were proficient inYardeenese food. But for Hailey who preferred Easteinese food, it was okay to eat Yardeenese foodonce or twice, but if she had to eat it every day, she felt… maybe she would go with Easteinese food.

Hailey ladled the chicken soup into another pot and put the prepared small ravioli into it. Then she wentto the other stove, turned on the fire, and began to stir-fry the vegetables skillfully. Working alone onthree stoves at the same time, she was in no panic at all, casually humming a song though it soundedterrible, not quite in tune.

After finishing his work, Karl took off his glasses, rubbed the center of his eyebrows, glanced at theclock, and was about to ask the butler why the meal was not yet ready when an inviting smell camethrough the door. Hearing a knock on the door, Karl said, “Come in.”

Then Hailey’s pretty face stuck in, “Karl, the meal is ready!”

Sitting in the dining room, Karl looked at the table filled with Easteinese food as his blue eyes lit up as ifhe was looking at the Milky Way. The dishes were all home-cooked but so tempting. He looked atHailey, saying in a clear voice, “You made these?”

“Yeah.” Hailey nodded and sat down across from him, smiling, “You haven’t had my dishes for a longtime, have you? Have a try, see whether I’m still good at it.” She handed the tableware to Karl, and hetook it, who couldn’t help but start eating. In case of waste, there were many kinds of dishes but notmuch food in each.

Karl picked up a piece of pork rib, and once he put it into his mouth, his eyes lit up even more brightly.It tasted just as he remembered, even better.

“How is it?”

Looking up at Hailey’s crescent sparkling eyes, Karl slightly compressed his lips and smiled, “It tastesgood.”

Hailey smiled joyfully. “Then keep eating.”

The two siblings sat face to face, eating while talking, enjoying a rare relaxing time.

Karl was one-half Easteinese and having spent a long time in Congland in childhood, he had a verydeep affinity for.

Easteinese food.

The time he had been living in the Garden of Rose was the happiest time he had ever had. Both hismother and father had cooked. Although they had been very busy at work, they would have cooked for

them at every opportunity and had fed them well. At that time, he had felt that his home had been smallbut there had been a large family, having spent every day in happiness and joy.

He had thought it would have lasted a lifetime, having not expected it to end that soon. Some peoplespent their whole life to make up for their childhood, and some people made up for their life with theirchildhood, and he was the latter.

Seeing Karl eating well, Hailey raised her eyebrow and laughed, “How is it, Karl? My cooking is betterthan Mom’s, right?”

Karl said, “Almost.”

“No way!” Hailey disagreed, “I peel the tomatoes cleaner than Mom did. Mom used to be too lazy topeel tomatoes, while I’m

much more diligent than her.”

Karl compressed his lips and said, “Well, tomatoes with peel taste better.”

Hailey rolled her eyes speechlessly and pouted, “Okay, I know you are always in favor of Mom insteadof me. After all, I’m just your younger sister.”

Seeing Hailey’s aggrieved look, Karl couldn’t help laughing. As he stared closely at her who took aftertheir mother, the smile on his face gradually faded. After a moment of contemplation, he suddenly said,“Maybe, Mom is really still alive.”

The tableware in Hailey’s hand fell to the ground with a “pop” sound.

In the swimming pool, there was a slender figure swimming back and forth like a fish. Hailey spentalmost the whole afternoon in the water, trying to clear the mess in her mind.

Karl had told her that Mom and Dad might still be alive. He had told her that the two bodies that hadbeen burnt in the car that year had actually not been their parents’ and that the forensic scientist whohad done the identification had been arranged by him. In other words, the results of the forensicidentification had been fake.

“At first I just didn’t want others to touch Mom’s body. But later the forensic scientist identified thebodies and told me that the two bodies were not my parents’. Only then did I understand.”

Hailey’s eyes were watery, “Then why? Why didn’t you tell me in the first place?”

Karl said, “Not only did I not tell you but also all of the rest. Because I didn’t replace any trace of them.” Hesaid in a deep voice, was afraid that once I woke the sleeping dogs, I would spoil Mom and Dad’s planand also put you in danger.”

“What about now?” Hailey asked urgently while tugging at Karl’s collar, caring about nothing else,“Have you found their whereabouts now?”

Karl shook his head, “But, John is making moves again.”

Hailey’s eyes trembled with shock.

“You know what that means.” Karl’s voice was serious. “John and Roger have different purposes. WhatRoger wants, is to have it, while what John wants, is to destroy it.”

“Beep!”

Hailey surfaced to see Aleft holding her vibrating phone and shouting her name.

Walking up the ladder, Aright covered Hailey with a wide white towel.

Hailey took the phone from Aleft’s hand and saw that both Nicholas and Brook had called her. Shecalled Nicholas back firs sat on the recliner, and took a sip of juice, waiting until the call was answered.Then she asked, “Nick, what’s the matter?”

Nicholas said succinctly, “Maya has been released.”

Hailey paused at his words for a moment.

Maya had actually been released on medical parole.

After learning about the situation, Hailey hung up the phone and called Brook back.

Brook said as soon as he answered the phone, “Dear Lord, you finally called me back!”

Hearing Brook’s voice, for a moment Hailey almost blurted out the news that their parents were stillalive. But on second thoughts of Karl’s words, she didn’t.

Brook also told Hailey the news that Maya had been released. “Nick just told me that it was because ofsome director’s connection. And it has something to do with Eliza?”

As her clear eyes flashed with the reflection of water, Hailey sneered lightly, “These two women just willnever get enough.”
