Chapter 343 He’s Here for Hailey?

Karl didn’t return to the Magic Castle until dusk.

“Karl…”

When Hailey trotted downstairs to welcome Karl, she could not only feel the cold aura exuded by himbut also smell blood.

Karl went back to his room to take a shower while Hailey went to the kitchen and heated some milk forhim..

When Karl came out of the bathroom, the smell of blood had been gone, and he returned to his usualnoble and elegant facade in his homey attire.

“This is for you,” said Hailey.

Karl frowned and said, “No. I’d rather drink some wine.”

With that, he was about to get the wine from the cabinet but was stopped by Hailey.

“No way! You got wet in the rain. It’ll be easy to catch a cold. Drink the milk to warm yourself up! Don’tdrink any wine!” Hailey said. “If you have any objection, I’ll call Lily and ask her to talk with you.”

Thinking of Lily’s nagging, Karl had no choice but to compromise and gulp down the milk with a frown.

Hailey said with satisfaction, “Good boy!” as she handed him a glass of water, and he took itimmediately.

After drinking the milk, Karl did feel much warmer.

Hailey looked Karl up and down. She didn’t expect him to tell her, so she asked, “So what’s going on?Did you get anything?”

Karl nodded as he held the glass, his fingertips turning white.

He didn’t tell Hailey what kind of method he had used, nor did he want her to know the process. Heonly told her the result. “She confessed. It was her who killed Sophia as an accomplice.”

His voice was hoarse as if it was extremely difficult for her to utter the word “Sophia.”

His Adam’s apple bobbed silently.

Hailey narrowed her eyes and asked, “Who is the mastermind?”

Karl raised his head, his blue eyes filled with resentment.

“John,” he said slowly, gritting his teeth.

Hailey’s heart skipped a beat.

It was him!

The hatred between them and John was so complicated that it was beyond ordinary people’simagination.

He was more difficult to deal with than Roger.

Hailey knew that John had something to do with her parents’ death, but she never thought that eventhe death of Sophia was caused by him.

Owen had an appointment with Lucas for dinner d to talk about Roger.

However, at dusk, Lucas suddenly called and said, “Sorry, I’m afraid I can’t have dinner with youtonight. I have to work overtime.”

“All right. Then tomorrow,” Owen said and intended to hang up.

Lucas said, “Why don’t you ask me why I have to work overtime?”

“You’re a policeman. Isn’t it normal for you to work overtime?” Owen said causally but immediatelyperceived something wrong. He frowned and asked, “Does it have anything to do with Roger?”

“Just as I was about to say that you became dull after the craniotomy operation, you immediatelyrealized it. Although you’re a little dull, you’re still a smart man.” Lucas chuckled.

“Cut the crap.” Owen didn’t want to waste his breath. “What’s going on? Is there any change in Roger’scase?”

Lucas went on, “I’m going to pick up someone at The Nomad. Guess who it is.”
