Chapter 145
Nonetheless, Miles knew he had no choice. He had to replace the antidote, and he could only hope that Axiel would stay true to his word.
Miles had always prided himself on his composure and poise. He was the kind of person who could maintain a calm and collected demeanor even in the most chaotic of situations. But on that fateful day, when his eyes caught sight of them, Axiel and Jenna kissing, the anger within him threatened to consume everything he held dear. This was the day they were supposed to embark on the quest and Axiel was there, kissing his sister.
It was a routine evening, or so Miles thought. He walked into the room, expecting the same familiar sights and sounds that had greeted him countless times before. But as he turned the corner, his world shattered around him. There they were, intertwined in a passionate embrace, oblivious to the pain their actions inflicted upon him.
Miles‘ eyes widened in disbelief. How could these two people indulge in such an act at this point in time? A storm of emotions roared within his chest, the flames of anger licking at his very soul. Each beat of his heart seemed to fuel the fire of rage that threatened to burst forth
He stood frozen, his eyes locked on them. The sight was etched into his mind, a painful memory that would haunt his every thought. The image of their lips meeting, their bodies entwined flashed in his mind.
Anger surged through his veins like a relentless tide, drowning out reason and logic. A torrent of questions barraged his mind. How could they? When did this betrayal begin? Did they have any regard for Alexia’s health, his love?
A kaleidoscope of emotions twisted and turned within him, colliding like crashing waves. Hurt mingled with disbelief, forming an indomitable force that shattered his once unwavering trust. The love that once flourished was now replaced by a seething fury, consuming all semblance of compassion and understanding he possessed.
His eyes, once the windows to a gentle soul, now glimmered with a dangerous glint. The anger within him threatened to overflow, tearing at the seams of his carefully constructed facade. Every nerve in his body screamed for revenge, for some avenue to release the pent–up frustration and pain.
Miles clenched his fists, his eyes locked on their entangled bodies. He vowed to preserve his dignity, to confront them with the blazing fury that consumed him. No longer would he play the role of the passive bystander, the one who would silently endure betrayal
In that moment, Miles could no longer recognize the person he once was. His eyes, tainted by the sight of their actions, had become mirrors reflecting the depths of his anger. Whether this anger would consume him or drive him to seek closure, only time would tell. But one thing was for certain: the fury within Miles had ignited a fire that would not easily be extinguished.
His jaw tightening with anger. He could feel the fury bubbling inside him as Jenna’s affection for Axiel became evident. He had always known his sister had a soft spot for Axiel, but seeing it so openly displayed now, when they were about to embark on a dangerous journey, ignited a fire within him.
“Enough!” Miles snapped, pushing Jenna away from him. His voice was laced with frustration and hurt. “We’re about to face unknown dangers, and you’re here kissing Axiel? Have you no sense of responsibility?”
Jenna recoiled, hurt flashing in her eyes. She never expected such a harsh reaction from her brother. “Miles, it’s not what you
think. Axiel and 1-”
“I don’t want to hear it,” Miles interrupted, his tone venomous. He turned his back to them, unable to bear the sight of their intimacy any longer. “We need to focus on the mission at hand, not get distracted by irrelevant matters.”
Axiel, feeling the tension in the air, stepped forward cautiously. “Miles, I understand your concerns, but Jenna and I care about each other. We have each other’s backs, just like we have yours.”
Miles turned around, his face still contorted with anger. “This is not the time for emotional attachments. We’re risking our lives out there, and I won’t have you two putting yourselves or the mission in jeopardy.”
Jenna’s eyes welled up with tears, her voice trembling with a mix of hurt and defiance. “You can’t control who I care about.

Miles. We’re all in this together, and if you can’t accept that, then maybe you should go on this journey alone.”

Miles was taken aback by her words. He hadn’t anticipated his outburst to drive a wedge between them. He took a deep breath, trying to calm his raging emotions. “I’m sorry,” he muttered, his voice barely audible. I just… I can’t see you hurt again.”
Jenna’s anger softened, replaced by understanding. I know that, Miles, but you need to trust us. We’re capable of taking care of ourselves and each other. It’s time to let go of your resentment and focus on our mission.”
Miles stormed out of the house. He was infuriated by the sight he had just seen.
When Axiel came out, Miles stormed up to Axiel, his face contorted with anger, and sprung forward with an intense burst of aggression, his clenched fist connecting solidly with Axiel’s unsuspecting face. The resounding impact echoed through the air, as the force of the blow sent Axiel stumbling backward,
Breathing heavily, Miles glared at Axiel with eyes filled with rage. He gritted his teeth and, in a voice laced with anger he yelled at him, “That was for daring to lay your lips on my sister!”
When the situation got intense, bystanders held their breath, their shocked gazes glued to the unfolding scene.
Without uttering another word, Miles turned on his heels and began striding away, his fury acting as a fuel propelling him forward. His fist remained tightly balled.
