Chapter 137
Madelyn knew quite a bit about the Jimenez family's affairs. Looking at them made her feel like she was looking at the parasites from her own family, which disgusted her every time she heard them speak. Madelyn ignored Robert, leaving him feeling awkward. Thus,
he left in embarrassment.
Inside the ward, Abigail's oppressive voice rang out.
"Stella, you already know it's impossible for you to send him to jail. But if you insist on making us go through this trouble, our relationship will worsen!"
Her voice was menacing, with a threatening undertone.
Unable to stand it any longer, Madelyn pushed the door
open.
"Your relationship with her wasn't that great to begin with."
Abigail's expression changed when she saw Madelyn.
Recently, the feud between Madelyn and Elena had been making waves. She had also heard that the Miller family had clearly sided with Madelyn.
She used to be disdainful toward Madelyn, but now she dared not show it openly.
Nevertheless, Abigail couldn't suppress her dissatisfaction
and said coldly, "Ms. Garcia, this is a family matter!"
The way Abigail referred to Madelyn made the latter's face darken. Everyone in Klago City knew she was married to Andrew.
This meant that Abigail had called her that on purpose.
Madelyn's lips curled into a cold smile.
"Ms. Oliver, you should address me as Mrs. Miller."
Both Abigail and Stella were speechless.
Stella could tell that Abigail was blatantly disrespecting Madelyn and even mocking her status. But who would have thought that Madelyn would insult Abigail right back? Turning toward Madelyn, Stella looked at her with a newfound respect.
Abigail's face darkened further at the title "Ms. Oliver".
"Even if you are Mrs. Miller, it's not your place to meddle in our family affairs!"
"Ms. Oliver, you might not be aware, but my uncle accepted Stella as his goddaughter years ago. Relationship -wise, I could be considered her cousin, Furthermore, you're not even Stella's mother, so what do her family matters have to do with you?"
Madelyn's cutting remark caused Abigail to become livid.
Abigail glared at Stella, wondering why she didn't know that
Madelyn's uncle had taken Stella as his goddaughter.
Before she could respond, Madelyn walked over to Stella's bedside.
Madelyn's tone evidently hinted at Abigail's departure as she said, "Ms. Oliver, my cousin needs rest. Please leave!"
"You..."
Abigail shot a fierce glare at Madelyn.
She then turned her oppressive gaze to Stella, threatening her with her glare alone. However, Stella didn't even spare her a glance. Finally, in a fit of rage, Abigail left reluctantly. Stella and Madelyn were the only ones remaining in the ward. The latter looked at the thick bandages around Stella's head and leg.
"Did he hit you that hard?"
"It's alright. He'll pay a far greater price for this," Stella said. nonchalantly.
Madelyn was sure that Sebastian must have beaten Stella a lot when she saw the bruises around the latter's mouth and
eyes.
Yet, not only did Stella's father not show any concern for her earlier, but he also criticized her for being cold-hearted for not letting Sebastian off.
Madelyn handed Stella a glass of water.
"How did you guys end up in a fight?"
"He insulted my mother!" Stella spat.
Madelyn immediately understood what had happened.
Although Stella was severely injured, it was clear from what she said about Sebastian that he must have been seriously injured by her, too. "So, how is he?"
"He needed five stitches on his head."
Madelyn was speechless. She thought that Stella was indeed ruthless but felt that Sebastian deserved it.
Initially, Madelyn was worried sick about Stella, but hearing that Stella had put up a good fight relieved her a little.
The thought of Robert and Abigail's attitudes earlier
unsettled her.
"What now? Your father and that woman probably won't let this matter go easily."
"Tristan Garza is handling my case. Do you think we can lose?"
"What I mean is your father and that woman might try to get to him since they know you hired Tristan."
Bribing the opposing lawyer was definitely something Robert would do..
