Chapter 56

Andrew brought up the moment Elerja confronted George at the Miller residence.

With a clouded mind, Madelyn murmured, "No, I wasn't afraid. I've got. you."

Andrew smiled contentedly. Holding her close, he felt an unexpected drowsiness and soon fell asleep. The two slept peacefully through. the night.

The next morning, Madelyn asked the maid to move all her belongings into the master bedroom. She had been sleeping in a separate room from Andrew previously, so most of her things were in the neighboring room.

Andrew watched her bustling around with a smile and went to the closet to choose her outfit for the day.

"Let's go with the one Ashley designed," Madelyn said.

It was a piece Grace had personally tailored for Madelyn before. Back then, Madelyn was still at odds with Andrew. She hadn't expected Grace to think of her even during such moments. Madelyn felt a pang in Andrew's expression turned serious as he pulled out two gowns.

Madelyn spotted the piece designed by Ashley and another unfamiliar piece from the closet. She wondered if that was a new piece he had custom-made for her, though he wasn't particularly skilled in formal

attire.

Before she could dwell on it further, she heard Andrew softly ask, " Which o will you wear?"

Madelyn felt anhoyed. She had just said she

wanted to wear Ashley's design. Confronted with Andrew's inscrutable gaze, she sensed a need to keep things calm. She pointed decisively to the orange. evening gown in his other hand and said, "That one." Andrew grinned as he tossed aside the unique gown designed by Ashley, then approached Madelyn with the orange gown in hand. He personally assisted Madelyn in changing into it and even styled her

hair.

Gazing at her elegant reflection in the mirror, Madelyn remembered how Andrew used to enjoy combing her hair every weekend when they were younger. When he was done, she reached for his hand. "What's the matter?" Andrew asked, lowering his head to meet her

eyes with a gentle gaze.

Madelyn looked up, closing her eyes.

Andrew chuckled. "What can I do for you?"

"Oh, darling!" Madelyn couldn't help but exclaim fondly as he feigned

ignorance.

Andrew's playful teasing melted instantly. He leaned in and kissed her soft lips. Their breaths mingled and quickened between them. After a moment, he pulled back, saying, "Let's pick this up later when we

return."

Madelyn felt they couldn't continue like this, or they wouldn't make it back to the Miller residence today.

She looked over at Andrew, who seemed well put-

together, then at her disheveled dress and Hair, which he had inadvertently messed up. She couldn't hide a grimace. After Andrew helped her tidy up, they had breakfast to her before leaving.

When they arrived at the Miller residence and stepped out of the car,

Madelyn spotted Amelia and Caleb waiting at the gate. Noticing Madelyn stepping out, they hurried over to greet her.

Madelyn and Andrew appeared visibly displeased.

Amelia approached, making a conscious effort to sound gentle. Maddie, why didn't you return earlier? It's your grandma's birthday celebration today."

Madelyn arched an eyebrow, immediately seeing through Amelia's motives. Amelia and Caleb probably got invitations to the birthday celebration through Elena before the incident at the Miller residence involvi Elena.

"I didn't expect you both to still show your faces here." Madelyn smirked.

Despite Elena's absence and public scrutiny, Amelia and Caleb showed up without seeming to care about anything.

Amelia seethed inwardly but restrained herself from lashing out at Madelyn. Stepping forward, she reached out to take Madelyn's hand. Let's head inside together."

Madelyn instinctively avoided her touch. She linked her arm with Andrew's as they entered. "Darling, let's hurry inside."

Andrew hummed in response without looking at Caleb and Amelia. Madelyn saw right through them, and so did Andrew.
