Kaylin’s POV
Yeah, what the hell am I supposed to say? My daughter is missing, and the others don’t think she’s survived. I can’t accept that. To accept it as my reality, I want to be able to bury her little body. Before that, she’s simply just missing, and I plan to do everything in my power to replace her. For days I’ve been locked up in a meeting room I’m borrowing from Aleida, and it no longer looks like a meeting room. I would rather describe it as a military base with all the information I could replace. You can see this hunt as a game, and replaceing Aurora is the goal. Before I can start playing, I need to know who my opponents are, hence my research.
I’ve written every one of my enemies’ names on one of the whiteboards and all the information I’ve been able to get about them. What’s left to do now is call in reinforcement to take down these people one by one. Four names adorn the board; Joseph, Felicity, Tyson from the arena, and William. One of them has my daughter, and I plan to replace out who, even if I’ll have to do it by force. It’s not just me who needs Aurora back, her mates, my dad, brother, Nathan, our race, yes... As you probably understand, she’s essential to all of us, and from what I know of the people in our lives, none of them will stop searching until we replace her.
Whether she’s alive or not, I need closure. But something inside me roars that my little girl is alive and that she needs me. I have even changed into a form of magical war armor. It looks like a metallic wetsuit roughly, but since it has magical qualities, it’ll also transform itself into armor when I shift to my dragon. I’ve braided my hair in warrior braids that have been growing since I cut it off when Aleida and I visited the mall. Despite the pain and chaos that has arisen, my body feels strong, ready to award punishment to all those who have done wrong.
What remains to be done is to call all the people I need to do this, which I’ve already done, and now wait for them to come here. Thankfully, it doesn’t take many minutes before my loved ones get into the room, and I turn towards them with a look that screams determination. Nathan sits closest to me, with Salazar on his right while my father and brother are opposite the men. Aleida has her mates and the higher-ranked ones brought into the room, which doesn’t do me anything, as it touches them as much as me. Finally, it’s the Everton family that I know has my back in this, whether it’s their family member who’s done this or not.
“Thank you for coming,” I begin. “In front of you, you each have a file with information about all those who may have taken Aurora away from us. I’ve carried out all the necessary military research, strategies, and scenarios to get her back as soon as possible.”
They look at me in amazement before, one by one, they start browsing the papers in front of them. I wait patiently for them to get acquainted with the information I’ve given them, and it doesn’t take long until Salazar stretches his hand up.
“Yes?” I ask and meet his gaze.
“In order to carry out this kind of mission with the resources needed, it takes your authority to be greater than it is right now,” my grandfather replies, and I nod.
“I’m very well aware of that,” I reply the moment someone knocks on the door, and I walk there to open it, not at all surprised to see Mark and Igor on the other side. “Welcome in, gentlemen. I’ve invited the council to work together on this issue. Hopefully, that’s not a problem for you, Queen Aleida. It wouldn’t be good for either of us if my deeds appeared dishonest after all the help you provided.”
All those present looks at me with big eyes. Mainly because I use an authoritative voice and use my friend’s title instead of her name, which refers to the fact that we’re no longer friends during this meeting, but allies. Thankfully, Aleida understands what’s about to happen and smiles big before she nods approvingly.
“We’re at your disposal, Princess Kaylin,” she replies, and I smile back before turning to the council members.
“This isn’t how we usually do this, and I’m well aware of that. But desperate times require quick solutions, and I see no solution other than to have a private coronation here and now. We can have the formal version at a later date. The most important thing isn’t which lords get the opportunity to lick my ass for their own gain, but to get your future queen back.”
My aura is strong and almost flashes by the desire to replace my Aurora. The thing is that it really doesn’t matter if the council says no. I’m royalty, and my wish is their law. At the same time, I don’t want to disagree with the men who are there to help me control an entire race. However, it doesn’t seem that my council members are planning to create problems when they bite their wrists and stretch their arms towards me one by one. I don’t drink much of their blood, and once it’s their turn to drink of mine, it happens even faster. Salazar smiles and looks at me with pride when he starts talking.
“Kaylin Clarkson, the rightful vampire princess, you’ve now taken part of our blood as well as we’ve taken part of yours. Our purpose is to ensure the safety of you and the vampires. Do you promise to protect your race as if they were your family?”
“I, Kaylin Clarkson, hereby swear to protect my people and rule with justice, to continue following the path of light instead of the doom of darkness from now until the end of time,” I answer, and the curtains in the room flutter as my aura becomes stronger than ever before.
The vampires get down on their knees and bow their heads to show respect to their royalty. The werewolves just turn their heads in reverence since I’m not their queen but the leader of their allies. Salazar comes up to me and puts a black crown on my head.
“I’m so proud of you, your highness,” he whispers, and I smile at him. “You have a plan and the authority to execute it. Tell us what you need.”
Once we finish the meeting, everyone has found out what I expect from them and what’s needed. Or well, at least the vampires know it. I can’t really expect anything from the werewolves since I have no jurisdiction over them. But I know that Aleida and her family want the boys’ mate back, as well as that they’re prepared to do essentially anything to achieve it. Therefore, I’m now standing with Aleida outside the packhouse, basically ready for departure. The only problem is that Nathan refuses to split from me and demands to go with me.
“You can’t catch up with us at ground level, Nate!” Aleida exclaims, annoyed. “One of Kaylin’s wing flaps is like 328 ft! There’s no way you’re going to make it. Even I will have trouble following her speed since her range between the wings is much larger than mine.”
“Nate, jump on,” I say, transforming myself.
The others stop talking to look at my magnificent dragon standing proudly, ready for anything. My black scales gleam in the moonlight, and steam comes out of my nostrils. Nathan is uncertainly looking at me, and I bend down so that he can pat my big head. My eyes are as big as Nathan’s head, which says a lot about my size. Even though I have a giant dragon, it also gives me the strength to carry my mate on my back.
“Are you sure?” he asks, and I nod.
I’m sure, I answer in the mindlink.
He does as I say, and Aleida transforms herself into her winged lion. We give each other a look, and then we fly. My brother and father are behind us, ready to fight for our safety if necessary.
Baby, whom do you think took her?
William.
I don’t hesitate to answer my mate’s question, even though it hurts to think that my ex beloved has taken our daughter and hurt her at worst. On the other hand, of the enemies I have, he’s the closest and most likely the culprit.
Why are you sure it’s him? Maybe it’s a mistake.
I’m almost certain it’s him, and I hardly think it’s a mistake, I answer.
How can I be so sure? Because I know now that my only mistake was loving the leech.
A / N:
Hey, everybody!
Another book in the series is now complete, and I can already announce that about six more books are planned. The next book in the series I plan to start releasing chapters for in January 2022. I have released the epilogue for the next book called “The last saint” and hope you save it in your library to avoid missing updates. But for safety, I would follow my social media if I were you.
✿ Is it really William who took her, or do you have another theory?
❀ What kind of creature do you think the next person in the series will be?
✿ Is Kaylin’s anger towards William what drives her to think it’s him, or does he have enough motive to be a suspect
Please, give me some comments! I have released another free book and have worked hard to write something that hopefully you enjoy. The least you as a reader can do is leave a few words for me, right? Hugs and kisses!
