“I feel… like you don’t really care about him,” Vicky remarked.

Letting her fiance spend time with his ex-wife and going off to film when he was injured did not seemlike something Aurora would do. When Vicky was in a relationship with Tyler, she had given upimportant performances to take care of him when he fell ill, so she could empathize with Aurora’ssituation. She would never have left to film movies.

Aurora let out a sigh. “Vicky, I’ll be honest with you. At first, I thought he was great. He’s young,successful in his career, and so handsome that any woman who sees him would be attracted to him.”

Vicky nodded. It was Tyler’s deceitful appearance that had fooled her when they were dating.

Vicky wanted to know what Aurora really thought of Tyler and asked, “What do you think of him?”

Aurora’s face showed a hint of conflict as she replied tactfully, “He’s not the easiest person to get alongwith.”

Vicky was far more experienced than Aurora when it came to how difficult Tyler might be. “That’s justthe way he is. Once you both understand each other, it’ll be better…”

Vicky’s words were interrupted by Aurora’s agitated interruption, “I don’t want to understand him!”

Vicky looked at Aurora in astonishment. “Miss Starling…”

Even if Vicky were slow to catch on, she could sense that something was off between Aurora and Tyler.

Aurora looked at Vicky with conflicted emotions, struggling to replace the right words. When she caught aglimpse of the troubled expression on Vicky’s face, she seemed to have made a decision and took adeep breath. “Vicky, actually, things between Tyler and I aren’t what you think. We…”

Before Aurora could finish her sentence, a deep, chilling voice came from the direction of the door,interrupting the words that were about to leave her mouth, “What are you talking about? What’s takingyou two so long?”

Aurora’s voice faltered, and she turned her head to look at the tall and handsome figure standing at thekitchen door. Feeling as though she had been doused with cold water, Aurora instantly snapped out ofit.

“It’s nothing.” Aurora gradually regained her composure. “I was just chatting with Miss Shaw aboutsome interesting things related to filming.”

Tyler’s tone suddenly softened. “Oh, really? I thought you were still angry at me.”

Aurora lifted her eyes, and when she met Tyler’s half-smile, a shiver ran down her spine. “Why… whywould I be?” Aurora tugged at the corners of her mouth, forcing a strained smile. “I shouldn’t have goneto film when you were injured and neglected in your care. It’s normal for you to be angry with me…”

Tyler looked at her for a moment, then shifted his gaze to Vicky. “If you are done chatting, let’s go backto eat.”

With that, he turned to leave, and Vicky turned her attention back to Aurora. “Miss Starling, what wereyou trying to say?”

Aurora said gloomily, ” Nothing. This is entirely my fault.

Alright, let’s not talk about this anymore. Let’s eat, Vicky.”

After dinner, Aurora called out to Vicky and asked, “Vicky, can I stay here tonight?”

Tyler was already living in the house, so Vicky was relieved by the idea that Aurora was staying as well.“Sure, I will tidy the guest room for you,” she agreed.

Vicky was certain that Aurora’s presence in the house would prevent Tyler from acting out of line.
