Aurora walked habitually to the entrance of the hall and was about to knock on the door when sheheard voices from inside. i

“Mother, has Mister Hart given any instructions lately?” It was Elijah’s father speaking.

Old Madam Harrisons responded, “No. We can lay back for the next few days.”

Missus Harrisons complained, ‘This is all Elijah’s fault. Why did he have to provoke Tyler Hart, of allpeople? I mean, out of all the women he could have chosen, why did he have to pick Tyler Hart’swoman to put on an act with?”

Elijah protested, “At that time, Vicky said she was already divorced… and I was just asking her to helpwith the act. Who could’ve known it would anger Tyler Hart? It’s not entirely my fault either. It’s alsoGrandmother’s fault for deceiving me about having a terminal illness just to get me married. I had nochoice but to hastily replace someone.”

“Enough. There’s no point in talking about these things now.” Old Madam Harrisons sighed. “We’ll dowhat Tyler instructs us to do. Although the acting part has been tiring, at least we’ve managed torecover the losses our family incurred before, so it’s not a bad thing.”

Mister Harrisons nodded. “Tyler has indeed been generous. Without his financial aid, the Harrisonswould probably have

gone bankrupt before Grandmother’s birthday.”

Missus Harrisons hesitated. “Didn’t Tyler divorce Vicky? Why did he ask us to cooperate with this act? Ireally don’t understand what he’s trying to do.”

Old Madam Harrisons said, “The more you know, the more danger you face. It’s better to be ignorant ofcertain things. By cooperating in this act, we can save our family, and that’s to our advantage. I neverexpected Vicky to hold such significance in Tyler Hart’s heart… It’s truly extraordinary.” After a pause,she added, “Since Tyler Hart cares so much about Vicky, do you think… we can take advantage of herto gain more benefits for the Harrisons?”

Elijah hurriedly said, “Grandmother, please don’t do anything rash. You don’t know how ruthless he canbe… He’s not someone to be trifled with. If we use Vicky to blackmail him, not only will we end up withnothing, but we’ll also suffer severe consequences.”

“Vicky trusts our family a lot right now. Perhaps we can gain even more from this…” Old MadamHarrisons muttered.

Mister Harrisons chimed in, “Mother, don’t be greedy. Despite Tyler’s young age, even the Hart family’sold patriarch regards him with caution and even pleads for his return. If you anger him, it’s equivalent toopposing the entire Hart family.”

Old Madam Harrisons lamented regretfully, “Never mind, our family has already received enoughbenefits. Let’s be careful from now on and make sure Vicky doesn’t catch on.”

Missus Harrisons echoed, “Elijah, you must remember to keep your distance from Vicky. If Tyler thinksthat something is going on between you two, our family will definitely face a catastrophic disaster.”

“Mom, don’t worry. Whenever I meet Vicky, I will report to Mister Hart and follow his instructions…”

Before Elijah could finish his sentence, the doors of the hall were suddenly pushed open.

The Harrisons were taken aback. Their faces instantly changed when they saw Vicky, who appearedcold and frosty.

“V- V- Vicky?” Elijah stammered, unable to speak properly. “Y – You… What are you doing here?”

Vicky scanned the shocked and uneasy expressions of the Harrisons. “Surprised?”

The Harrisons exchanged glances, unable to hide their guilty expressions.

It was Old Madam Harrisons who regained her composure before everyone else and shot Vicky afriendly smile. “Vicky, what brought you here?”

Vicky studied the kind look on Old Madam Harrisons’ face and felt out of place.

It was no wonder that the Harrisons had been so kind to her that it barely felt real. It was not until thismoment that she realized everything had been an act.

Not wanting to beat around the bush any longer, she said, “I heard everything.”

Old Madam Harrisons looked away for a split moment and sighed, “Since you’ve overheard us, there’sno point in hiding anything. Vicky, please come over.”

Vicky remained standing in place for a while before walking over.

She had never imagined coming across the truth twice in a row on the same day.

Choosing to sit on a seat that was furthest away from the others, she said, “Go on, then. When did youall start partnering with Tyler to fool me?”
