The sun hung high up in the sky and the weather gradually got hotter as noontime came.

When Lincoln noticed Vicky’s forehead had become slick with sweat, he said gently, “Vicky, there’s agazebo over there. Why don’t we take a rest there?”

Vicky was indeed feeling a little tired, so she nodded in agreement. “Okay.”

The path leading to the gazebo was paved with palm-sized pebbles, giving those who walked on thema sense of unevenness.

Suddenly, Vicky mistakenly stepped on a loose stone, which made her slip. Fortunately, Lincolnmanaged to catch her before she fell.

Lincoln looked worriedly at her and asked, “Vicky, are you okay?”

Vicky gave him an embarrassed smile and said, “Yes. Thank you.”

Lincoln was about to let go of her hand when an ice-cold voice sounded.

“What are you guys doing?”

Vicky turned around and saw a handsome man dressed in a suit standing not far away from them. Atthat moment, he was glaring angrily at them as though he had caught his wife

cheating on him.

His lips were drawn in a tight line as he strode over to them. Grabbing Vicky’s hand, he then asked,“Did you block my number and turn off the phone just so you could enjoy your date with Lincoln? Andwhy did you smile at him just now?”

The feeling of disgust rose up Vicky’s throat when she looked into Tyler’s cold eyes. She did not wantto explain anything to him, so she just said, “What I do with anybody is my business. It has nothing todo with you.”

She did a mental calculation and realized that Tyler had driven straight back here right after she turnedoff her phone.

Tyler’s tone became even colder to the point of threatening when he said, “I dare you to say that onemore time, Vicky Shaw.”

“I can say it a hundred times, but it still doesn’t change the fact that whatever I do, or who I do it with,has nothing to do with you!”

“Vicky, are you trying to cheat on me?”

Vicky laughed at how ridiculous he was being. “Cheat on you? Tyler, we’ve already divorced. I’m a freewoman. That means I can be with whoever I want and there’s nothing you can do about it.”

“I won’t allow it,” said Tyler overbearingly.

Vicky’s expression turned cold. “As if I hadn’t heard about the many other things you won’t allow me todo. Even if you’re still my husband, you still don’t have the right to say

who I can and cannot be friends with.”

“Friends?” Tyler’s tone became colder. “Do friends hug each other like the way you two were huggingjust now?”

“Tyler.” Lincoln could not stand it anymore. “Vicky nearly fell just now and I was just helping her up, sothings were not as you thought. There’s nothing going on between us.”

Tyler threw a mocking glance at Lincoln. “Didn’t you call her your girlfriend some time ago? Now yousay there’s nothing going on between the two of you? Lincoln, did you think that I won’t know whatyou’re thinking just because you hid it well?”

Instead of being unhappy, Lincoln came to Vicky’s defense.” Tyler, you should know better than me whyI called her my girlfriend previously. It was just a stopgap measure to prevent you from forcibly takingher away.”

After a sigh, he added, “Even if you don’t trust me, you should at least trust Vicky. Could it be that deepdown in your heart, you don’t trust her at all? Are you thinking that she must be doing something withsomeone if she doesn’t pick up your call? Or she must be flirting with a guy if she’s talking to him?”
