“But why Avery of all people?”

“Because Avery is deeply in love with him. She’s been wooing him ever since he came back home.She didn’t care about how doing so would make her look. The more he rejected her, the harder shetried to win him over. She was willing to do anything for him, so much so that it became the talk of thetown.

“Valencia wanted them to end up together too. She kept trying to create opportunities for them to bealone. Of course, the main reason is that Tyler will gain a firm foothold in the Hart family with theYeager family’s background and capabilities.”

Vicky gripped her phone so tightly that her knuckles went white. “But if that’s the case, plenty of girls fitthe bill. It doesn’t have to be Avery…” she said ruefully.

Chris must have known what Vicky was thinking as he said,” Tyler is recovering very well. You wouldn’teven know something’s wrong with him unless someone told you about it.”

After a pause, he added, “Lincoln never expected Tyler would make such a good recovery, so his planof using this kick up a scandal fell through. I’ll even say Lincoln’s life at home will be very difficult fromnow on, now that Old Mister Hart and Avery are both helping Tyler.”

Vicky knew Chris was telling her the truth.
