Workers like Vicky and Jennnifer were not allowed to enter from the main entrance, so they enteredfrom the back door instead. After that, Lina’s personal assistant led them into a room to wait for her.

Lina might not be the bride, but because of her status, she was allowed to have more than one set ofbridesmaid dresses. She would change into three dresses in total: One for before the wedding, one forduring the wedding, and one for after the wedding.

After Vicky and Jennifer finished ironing the remaining two sets of bridesmaid dresses, they liaised withthe hair and makeup artists to make sure they were on the same page before waiting quietly for Lina tocome back.

An hour later, she appeared in the room, looking upset. Even though her dress was the prettiestamongst the bridesmaids, it was nothing compared to the bride’s. She had expected this, but it stillstung.

After changing into the second dress, Lina said, “The ceremony is going to take some time, so you girlscan go attend if you want.”

“Really?” Jennifer was indeed curious about the wedding.

“Yeah. But you can only sit in the seats reserved for workers. You know what? I insist you two come.That stupid b*tch might do something to my dress, so you two can rush over to help me if thathappens.”

Vicky and Jennifer nodded as they understood what she meant. To be honest, they had seen their fairshare of catfights at weddings. Scorned exes would pour wine down the bride’s dress, some frenemies

would push each other down, and there was even one case where a bridesmaid slashed the strapholding up the wedding dress which resulted in a naked bride.

In the backstage corridor, Vicky was just about to go to the main hall when she received a phone call.

“You go first. I have to take this call,” she said to Jennifer.

“Alright.”

The call was from one of Vicky’s employees, asking about some work-related matter, and it took quite awhile for her to finish the call.

By the time she hung up the phone, ‘Wedding March’ was already playing in the main hall. Being apiano aficionado herself, she could tell the song was played on a real live piano by a very talentedpianist.

Since her seat was in a very hidden corner, away from the guests, no one noticed her tardiness.

Vicky sat carefully beside Jennifer and asked, “Has the ceremony begun?”

“Vicky, I… I think I left my phone in the dressing room. Would you mind going with me to take it?” askedJennifer awkwardly while avoiding her gaze.

Vicky noticed Jennifer was holding her phone in her hand.” Jennifer, your phone is right there in yourhand!”

Realizing her mistake, Jennifer’s face became even more pale.

“Vicky…” She was about to say something when the host’s voice rang across the main hall.

“Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the wedding of Mister Tyler and Miss Avery!”

Vicky’s expression froze. Her head spun and saw Tyler and Avery’s pre-wedding photos rolling acrossthe big screen monitor. There were also pictures of them at the door, but because Vicky enteredthrough the backdoor, she did not get the chance to see them or the bride and groom’s names. Afterall, who would put their pre-wedding photos at the backdoor or the dressing room? 2

Jennifer looked at Vicky worriedly. “Vicky, are you okay?”

She had just discovered who the bride and groom were a few moments before Vicky. Along the way tothe main hall, she was busy texting Cece, so she did not really take in her surroundings.

When she did replace out, it was already too late.
