LUCIFER'S HUMAN BRIDE -
Chapter 44 ANOTHER VOCALNO
Nathan put his hand to his ear and said, "I will call you," but they ignored him and walked away. Nathan looked at them and hit his hand on his car, with steam coming out of his ears. He was extremely angry.
"Oh, I almost forgot. Here is your phone," Ralph said, giving Lucinda the phone as he opened the car door for her. She got into the car, and Nathan glared at them. Ralph got into the car and started the engine, only to realize that Nathan's car was blocking his way.
"Move it!" Ralph snapped, pressing the horn of his car. Nathan growled and walked into his car to move it out of the way.
As they drove, the world outside the car was a blur of colors and shapes. Passing car headlights created streaks of light, and the world outside seemed to move at an incredible speed.
After a quiet and awkward drive, Ralph arrived in front of Lucinda's house, and she stepped out and turned back to look at him.
"Thank you," she muttered and turned back to go. "Come to work early tomorrow," he grinned and watched her as she walked into the building.
Lucinda walked into her house and shut the door behind her. Medusa was sleeping peacefully on the bed, her hair spread out in a wild tangle of curls. The room was bathed in a warm, golden light, and the air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers.
"Who is the sleepyhead now?" Lucinda muttered, and Medusa slowly opened her eyes and looked at her. "I wasn't sleeping, I was meditating," she stated.
"Oh, spare me that trash," Lucinda said, rolling her eyes. "I was wondering what would happen if I also started working rather than being at home all day," Medusa said, sitting on the bed with her legs crossed, looking at Lucinda. "That would be nice, but have you found a job?" Lucinda asked, raising a brow.
"No, but Hudson said I could work as a waitress in his friend's restaurant," Medusa declared with a cute smile on her face. Lucinda beamed, "Go for it."
As they chatted, the room grew darker, and the world outside fell silent. The only sound was the soft rustling of the trees outside, and the only light was the pale glow of the moon. Lucinda lay on the bed, her eyes closed, while Medusa leaned in and switched off the lights.
"Good night," she muttered.
"Good night," Lucinda replied.
The next day, Lucinda woke up to the sound of birds chirping outside her window. The sun was shining brightly, casting a warm glow over the room. She got up from the bed, stretching her muscles, and walked into the bathroom. The room was filled with the sweet scent of lavender, and the sound of running water filled the air.
She finished bathing and put on a deep blue cocktail dress with a shimmering satin finish. She sat on the bed, pulling her hair into a ponytail, and looked out the window. The world outside was alive with color and sound, and the sky was a deep, clear blue.
"Lucy, you're up already," Medusa mumbled, sitting on the bed and wiping her eyes with her hand. Her hair was rough and messy from sleep.
"I want to make up for my behavior at work yesterday," Lucinda replied softly.
Medusa looked at Lucinda, raising her eyebrows in question. "What did you do at work?"
Lucinda beamed, smiling from ear to ear. "You don't want to know that I slept the whole day, and my boss allowed it, although he scolded me." Medusa's mouth dropped open. "You what! Does alcohol have that kind of effect on you?"
"Yes, so I am going to..." Lucinda's phone rang, interrupting her.
She looked at the caller ID and put her phone to her ear. "Hello, good morning, sir," she stated in a polite tone.
"Come out, I am right in front of your house," Ralph stated, and she opened her eyes wide in surprise.
"But sir, I haven't eaten," she complained.
"You will eat at the office. Come out!" he half-yelled.
"Okay, I am on my way," she muttered and hung up.
"Who was that?" Medusa asked curiously.
"It's my boss. He is outside the building waiting for me," Lucinda replied, rolling her eyes.
"Since when did he start picking you up at home?" Medusa inquired.
"I don't know, but I am loving it. Bye!" Lucinda said, giving Medusa a light kiss on the cheek. She grabbed her bag and walked out of the house.
Ralph had a lot on his plate that day and couldn't afford to be late. Glancing at his watch, he saw someone walking majestically toward his car. It was Lucinda. Her beauty was breathtaking, and her face glowed as she walked toward him. Her glowing eyes were enough to make him lose his senses.
"Good morning, sir," she stated as she stood in front of his car.
"Morning. Get in," he stated, and she pulled open the door of the car and sat beside him, stroking her hair firmly. He looked at her and fixed his eyes on the road, started the engine, and drove off at great speed.
"Why did you decide to pick me up at home, sir?" she asked, looking outside the window.
"We need to go to Paris now for the second volcano. No more wasting time. Deacon got angry that we couldn't do anything yesterday because someone was sleeping the whole day," he stated, looking at her with side eyes. She bit her lower lip in a sexy way.
"I am sorry," she mumbled. He drove into his house and parked his car in the garage.
"What's this place?" she asked and batted her eyelashes.
"It's my garage. Don't worry," he replied with a smirk. They stepped out of the car, and he took out his house keys from his pocket.
"Wait for me. I need to go get some armor. Mine was destroyed yesterday," he said, and she glared at him.
