Luna Abigail -
Chapter 22
Abby’s P.O.V.
I dodge the knife by an inch, and that lunatic to Maria just stands there laughing. She is being flanked by two huge rouges, but nothing me and Galaxy can’t take out.
‘What do you want, Maria?’ I ask in a link. Wait, I can mind-link her? That means she has to have a wolf. When the f**k did that happen?
‘What I should have had from the start? Matthew and Silver Mist. Your days as Luna is over!’ She sneers in my mind. Her wolf makes me feel sick to my stomach. Something with her is completely off.
‘Her wolf is dead. Or she is supposed to be. Dark magic has awakened her, and she is not who she used to be. Her soul didn’t come back with her. So she is sinister and evil,’ Galaxy explains. So that is why she is giving me a creepy feeling.
‘Galaxy, how is that even possible? Wouldn’t Selene interfere with something like that?’ I ask in disgust.
‘Not if said wolf’s soul already went to the underworld, because she was sick and twisted from the get go. It sometimes happens that the madness in our human counterpart seeps into the wolf. If the wolf is not salvageable, the great mother will send the soul to the underworld. Sometimes, the soul is so corrupted it becomes a wolf demon spirit. Dark magic can revive them, but only the most evil souls manage that. This is not good. Abby.’ She says in a hurry, all the while keeping an eye on our opponent.
“So, little bitch, are we going to stand here all day or are we going to actually fight? Tenebris and I will be happy to do a swift execution, even though she is also good at playing with her food before devouring it.” Maria asks, her eyes gleaming with a madness that wasn’t there before. Her new wolf making her even more unstable. Her reddish hair and blue eyes have also changed. The hair is almost as black as night, and her eyes have a red circle outlining the blackness in them.
Maria jumps down to the ground with her two bodyguards. And I shift back to my human form, standing in my birthday suit.
“How do you want to do this, Maria?” I ask, smirking at the jealousy playing in her eyes when her companions checks me out. It doesn’t bother me, because I know they will be dead if they even think about making a move.
“You think you are a hotshot, just because your wolf is some ancient whore created directly by the cunt who calls herself our goddess? Pfft. I can take you down in human form as well. I don’t need any wolf to help me.”
“Funny how that wasn’t the case when I took you down in the challenge, but okay? We fight in human form, no wolf to help us.” I state with confidence and grace as a real Queen. My powers have grown since Selene crowned me and Matt in her world. They have all merged, and me and Galaxy are almost as one, so despite my promise, it will be an advantage to me because she is naturally there. Maria laughs, a sinister and cold high pitched sound. It reminds me of nails on a chalkboard, but with something even more nerve pinching on top.
She runs towards me in a swift motion, trying to take me off guard. Her mistake? She did the same last time, and I was prepared for her to do it again. It is a signature move, so incorporated in how she fights, she will do it every time. I move to the side, grabbing her by her black hair and throwing her over my shoulder. I use her momentum to strengthen my throw and she slams to the ground.
Quickly she is on her feet again, swiping mine from under me. We keep going back and forth, throwing punches, kicking each other in the legs and abdomen. Getting in as many punches and kicks as I can, Maria is also quite skilled in combat, something I never fared in in my old pack. So she gets me a few times, making me momentarily disorientated.
Because of that, I fall down to the ground after another leg swiping. Maria jumps up and shifts in a fluent movement. I knew she wouldn’t keep our agreement. Galay takes over immediately and we shift as well. Now it is our wolves that will determine how this is going to go, but before we can charge at Maria and her wolf, her two goons jump into the fray, trying to distract me as Tenebris goes for the kill. But Galaxy is the Queen of two species and a lot stronger than them, so she throws them both of her with our powers. As they hit the ground, Astra, Polaris and Vage swoops in, holding them both in place.
In my mind I hear Matt ordering me not to get killed, and even though I know he is just worried and wants me to come out on top, a little irrational irritation creeps in. How am I supposed to be killed by Maria, of all people? Even if she wasn’t after my mate, I would never let a creature like her take me down. If she can do that, then I’m not fit to be Queen.
Our wolves collide like trains going too fast, and they are both trying to get the upper hand. We both get scratches and bites in. The only difference is; you can’t see it on Tenebris as she has super fast healing and is all black in her fur, whereas we heal a little slower and have silver fur. The stripes of b***d oozing sets Tenebris off, making her seem even more possessed than before. He aims for our hind leg, and when Galaxy tries to dodge her teeth, she ducks under getting a swipe of my abdomen. Making me bleed even more. Luckily for me, it is mostly superficial, but it looks gory in our fur.
Amid our fight, a howl of sorrow rings between all our ears and then silence, before another cry this time human sounds near to me. There is a natural pause in the fighting as these unforeseen events transpire and I can see an unfamiliar female being killed by a warrior from White Moon. She must have been a spy, made known to Jason somehow.
My senses tell me to duck, and right on cue. Tenebris has taken advantage of the interruption and jumped in to get a hold of my neck. I am done playing nice.
I call forth my powers as Queen, making a barrier on my fur out of blue flames that dances at my every move. Galaxy’s eyes glows, making everything in the scene clearer. Zeroing in on our enemy, not wavering in our decision to kill her this time. Mercy clearly did nothing for her to be grateful for the life he got to keep, so this time I would end it all together.
A darkness gathers around Maria’s wolf, absorbing the flames around my fur. But Galaxy wasn’t near to be done with her. She enhances the flames burning the darkness, making the demon wolf sneer and growl in agitation.
We throw the wolf across the field, making vines on the ground to hold them down. The vines aren’t strong enough alone, so we strengthen them in a combination of fire and ice – heating them up to breaking point before cooling them down, making them harden. The demon wolf barks in irritation, trying with all their might to tear our holds to shreds but they are not budging. We then stalk towards the captured wolf. Our aura is on full blaze, making everyone in our proximity bow down in awe and respect, even the enemy. No one can uphold their position while being in the presence of us.
‘Everyone is to stand down, stop fighting, and surrender. Is that in any way unclear?’ Galaxy orders everyone, and all wolves bow their heads even lower.
‘As the Queen commands.’ All the wolves replies in unison, even the rogues. They can’t go again a direct order made by us. Even I am in awe of my amazing and badass wolf.
‘Rogues shift back, lay down with your hands above your head. Anyone who disobeys me will die, am I clear?’ She states. They all nod once.
‘Warriors, shift back as well. Get dressed and take the prisoners to the dungeons of both packs. As of right now, the packs are one. The Silver Moon pack has been reinstated.’ Galaxy orders, before making the announcement of the packs being put together.
‘Eh, should we maybe wait and see if Jason and Matt agree to that?’ I ask her. She snorts at my question.
‘No! Both will still be alphas, both will rule in the everyday, but we, you and I, will have the final saying alongside Matt and Blade when it comes to unsalvageable disputes.’ She says, before reaching the captured Tenebris.
‘I will make your death swift, but I am demanding you to never come back to earth. You will be stuck in the hell designed for our wicked wolf spirits for all eternity. As for you Maria, I hope you burn in hell.’ As Galaxy says that, she sends an energy thread through the wolf, bursting her heart out of her body.
Third person P.O.V.
Sylla stands ready to fight Aros, when she feels another stab in her dark energy. Someone tied to her magic is dead, but not someone who is tied in a way that it will take her own life. She doesn’t think much of it because they tied most of the coven members to her, so she will always know where they are or what they are doing. Especially if they should have gotten cold feet or turned their magic from the path of the dark.
She smiles a sinister smile, void of all emotion at Aros. Something is telling him it is not Sylla that is in control right now. And as he looks into her eyes, his suspicion is confirmed. In there, he sees a red circle surrounding her pupils. A clear sign a demon has taken home in her body.
“What’s your name, demon?” He asks calmly. Her smile widens.
“So, the little traitor isn’t as stupid as he looks, huh? Who would have thought?” A deep voice come out of her mouth. Aros crosses his arms, seemingly already bored with the conversation.
“Are we here to throw compliments at each other, or do you want to give me your name so we get a move on this show?” He asks, rolling his eyes in annoyance. Demons have always bored him to death with all their games and taunting.
“You are absolutely no fun, little warlock. My name is Eversor, and the pleasure is all yours.” The voice introduces itself. Aros pales. Eversor. The destroyer. Oh, this wasn’t good at all.
They are about to have a showdown when running. They can hear paws all over the quiet field. All the rogues here have shifted as well, to Abby’s surprise, as well as all the warriors. Those who are not currently taking anyone into custody stand by to await new orders from the King or Queen.
‘We heard your announcement, my love. So, that joint packhouse is really becoming a reality, huh?’ Matt asks in a mind-link, including Jason in their conversation.
‘It was all Galaxy. I wanted to ask you two, but…’
‘No, she is right. All the ranked members here are family, and you two are our royals. It would be a shame to let it go to waste. I am just glad I keep being alpha,’ Jason says in a cheerful voice. He is excited about what the future holds for all of werewolf and magic communities.
Sylla turns around slowly. She recognises that aura everywhere. But it can’t be?! Their plan was foolproof. Before her stands four other wolves. One of them walks up to Antares, who bows down. The silver wolf nudges Antares, who stands with pride and respect. Then she turns her menacing glare towards a stunned Sylla and visitor.
‘Never, ever, threaten one of my people, evil witch.’ A voice rings out. Loud and clear to everybody’s head.
It couldn’t be. Maria was supposed to kill her. But here she stood, tall, proud and annoying as hell. What the f**k happened?! She made her ally so strong, strong enough to take her down.
‘You really didn’t think that little worthless girl could be a match for me. Did you?’ The wolf asks in a condescending tone.
Suddenly a shot rings out from the treeline, aiming at Abby and Galaxy. They brace themselves for the impact, but it never comes. Abby hears a soft whimper, and someone yelling “NOOOOO!”
Down on the ground in front of Galaxy lays a small human form. The life and happiness in her eye dissipating slowly as she looks at her sister. Ellie runs to her naked from shifting back. And out of the side of her eyes, Abby sees a large panther jumping into the treeline, and then a scream and a gurgle as the live leaves the shooter. The big cat runs from the trees and immediately to the little hurricane on the ground. He shifts back and, surprisingly, has all his clothes on.
Abby shifts as well, tears streaming down her cheeks.
“Why did you jump in front of me?” She chokes out the question. Sylla laughs a menacing laugh, as she watches the child die slowly from her wound. The bullet is cursed and dipped in both silver and wolfsbane. No one will survive this.
“One down, three to go.” She states before teleporting away, just as Samson, Brandon’s wolf and Nigel, Kaiden’s wolf, closes in to capture her.
“You are the only witch and werewolf Queen. We can’t lose you. You are too important. And you are family, and we protect our family.” The girl whispers hoarsely, before her eyes close and her heart stops beating.
