Luna Abigail -
Chapter 28
Third Person P.O.V.
While Morgan was having a standoff with the goddesses and planning a rescue, Abby was being hugged by her littlest sister. She didn’t know a blind passenger had jumped on in the last second, before her voice rang out in the room.
“Willow. Is that really you?” Her voice was timid, and she sounded a lot younger than usual. Abby looked back, and there, behind her with tears in her eyes, stood. Ellie.
“Ellie!” Willow yells, before she runs into the outstretched arms of her big sister, who is now ugly-crying with happiness.
“It is you! But how, where, when?” Ellie is asking is disbelief.
“I would like to know the answer to that as well.” Abby says sternly, but her eyes contain nothing but the happiness of seeing her sister once again. Then something hit her.
“Ellie! What the actual F**K! You hopped on that teleportation without knowing where we were going. You could have got killed!” Abby yells. She just realised her sister blindly jumped on, not knowing what dangers they may land in.
Ellie looks unperturbed.
“Yes, I did, and I would do it again.” She answers with equal anger, and when Abby opens her mouth to argue, Ellie sighs.
“Abby! You are my Queen, my soul sister and my actual sister. I will always try to protect you, and I felt that teleportation coming on through our link. So, no. I didn’t have to think about it. I jumped on to make sure you were alright and to do my duty to you as my Queen and sister. You can yell all you want, but that changes nothing.” Ellies takes in a deep breath.
“I would do it again in a heartbeat.” She finishes.
Abby can’t help but smile at the stubborn girl beside her. One minute she sounds young, vulnerable and soft. The next she is as tough as they come.
Willow looks between her sisters. She doesn’t know how they have come here, but she is grateful none the less.
“Where are we, Willow?” Abby asks, changing the subject not so subtly. Ellie laughs, but her interest and curiosity are peaked.
“Uhm.. Well..” Willow looks down, not daring to look at either of her sisters.
“This is the…” She takes a deep breath.
“This is the underworld. Know as Deam Inferna, goddess hell.” A deep voice rings out. The girls all turn around. There in the doorway stands Jax. He smiles at them before walking in.
“Your Majesty, Ellie. It is good to see you both again.” He bows elegantly before they captured him in a big hug.
A knock on the door interrupts the family reunion
“Come in.” Jax calls out. As the door open and a young female with cold eyes and a fake smile poke her head in.
“Your father requests your presence, Jax. And those.” She stares at Abby, Ellie and Willow with contempt. Especially Willow gets the evil stare. Both Abby and Ellie growl at the woman’s hostility towards their sister. She rolls her eyes, but takes a step back as Abby walks towards her.
“What’s your name, demon?” Abby asks in an icy voice. Her eyes are shooting lightning, and Galaxy is begging to come forward and teach this bitch some manners.
“None of your business, Wolfie girl.” She answers nonchalantly, but her eyes hold fear and hatred.
“Wrong answer.” Abby says, standing nose to nose with the rude stranger. She flashes her aura and her eyes shine, making Galaxy more present. The woman’s eyes widen. Then she huffs.
“As I have said to the little Princess, position and birthright clearly aren’t everything. But okay. My name is Narine, but please don’t talk directly to me too often. I don’t like the stench of wolf.” Narine sneers at Abigail, who doesn’t look perturbed at all.
“Uh huh, and I don’t like a rude, bitchy demoness coming here like she owns the damn place. And I especially don’t like when she illustrates contempt towards my family, so I will tell you this; I am not living down here, lucky you, but I will raise hell and more if you as much as think about being rude, nasty or in any way unfriendly to my little sister. Am I in any way unclear, Miss…” Abby looks at Jax, whose eyes are dancing in amusement.
“Narine Caligo, Abby.” Jax answer with a not-so-subtle disgust.
“Am I in any way unclear, Miss Caligo?” Abby asks the seething demoness.
Instead of answering, Narine turns around after telling Jax again that his father wants to see him and the guests. She takes one last look at Abby before she leaves.
“This isn’t over, pathetic little Queen.” She whispers.
Ellie walks over to Abby.
“What did she say?” She asks, worry clear in her eyes. Abby shakes her head.
“It doesn’t matter.” She answers.
“Jax, who is your father, btw? And do you know how we got here? ” Abby asks as Jax follows them out of the room and down the hall.
“Uhm, yeah.. Well. My father is the King of demons. Laurus.” He answers quickly. Maybe if he says it in a hurry, it will be less of a shock.
Ellie stops dead in her tracks, mouth agape and eyes narrowed. Abby, on the other hand, looks calm and collected.
“Yeah, I gathered as much with the aura I felt at the hospital. That or you were a high-ranking demon of sorts.” She says with a shrug.
“You knew?” Ellie says as she stares at her sister in disbelief. Abby nods as if this isn’t a major revelation.
Jax laughs. He underestimated Abby and her observation skills once again. This was the third time. The first was when they came to her pack the first time. He didn’t think anyone would notice him in particular if he hid under the radar, but Abby had sensed then already something was not as it seemed regarding him.
The second and third time were at the hospital. She knew by his reaction Willow was his future mate, something he knew she had kept to herself too, otherwise Ellie would have questioned him more, and then when he realised his aura to transport himself to the underworld, she knew what he was. He would make sure to not underestimate her a fourth time.
They reached the throne room, talking amongst themselves. Ellie was still shellshocked at the revelation of Jax being the next in line to the underworld throne.
Jax knocked once before opening the door.
All the courts were gathered, but Abby knew better than to tuck her tail between her legs. She held her head high, took Ellie’s right hand and Willow’s left. Then, hand in hand, the three sisters walk to the thrones where a portly man sat smiling a smile that didn’t reach his eyes fully. But they were warmer than the eyes of the slender woman beside him.
They both wore costly clothes, many jewels on their necks, fingers, ears and wrists. Both wearing a golden crown, to punctuate they were the King and Queen of the underworld and its citizens.
“Ah! Jax, m’boy. You are the ever gentleman following these lovely ladies to us. But if memory serves me right, I sent for Narine to follow them and you here? And I see we have a visit of one more than I realised. There were only supposed to be you, lovely Willow and the Queen Luna?” The portly man says in a distinct and snobby voice. Jax smiles and bows down.
“I am afraid Narine was rather rude towards the Queen. So she sent her on her way, graciously sparing her tongue for her rudeness, because she didn’t want to start her visit here with violence.” Jax answers smoothly, like any man born of the royal house. His father narrows his eyes at this.
“Hm.. Yes, well, you know our costumes here, but if she took it too far. Well, I am glad Queen Luna Abigail is so merciful.” He says with a slight slur.
“I am only merciful when it suits the situation, your highness. Do not mistake it for weakness.” Abby speaks up. The King’s eyes snaps to her, and then he laughs so his large belly is about to pop all the buttons in his silk shirt.
“You are a funny little one.” He says with another little laugh.
“Now, where are my manners? I am Laurus, the Demon King and this is my wife and Queen Vera.” He presents. Abby gives a nod to them both, not bound to courtesy because she herself is a Queen. Willow and Ellie both courtesy.
“If your highness will excuse me asking. But do you know how we got here? And why?” Abby asks in a clear, demanding voice. She is not here to play politics. She wants to go home.
The man laughs again.
“Oh, I definitely know. I summoned you here, my dear. You see. You have something I want. Or rather, you are carrying something I want.” Abby pus her hands on her mildly showing belly.
“You want my children?” She asks incredulously. He nods, smiling bigger now.
“I’m afraid you will be my prisoner until they have been born, or you can choose to magically transport them to another to carry and be on your marry way. That’s up to yo, dear girl.” The King says in a jolly voice. He is acting like this is the highlight of the year for him. Which it probably is.
“May I ask why you covet my children so badly you kidnapped me?” Abby asks calmly. She will not show this monster how angry she is, nor how frightened.
“Well, there is a prophecy revolving your sweet little bundles in there.” He says, pointing to her stomach. Abby nods. She knows this.
“And you want my children for evil?” She states. It is not a question, but the demon King answers all the same.
“Yes. I want to put your little princess on the throne, with my dear boy, Jax, as her husband. And your boy will be a high-ranking general for my army. It will be perfect. Your bloodline, Abigail, will entitle them to the throne of the upper realm. And they will also rule the underworld. See, it makes sense.”
Abby shakes her head. She can see why he thinks it makes sense, but she knows Jax has a mate, and she is not interested in seeing her children become evil.
“I will not bring my children up in darkness and be the tip of the scale towards evil winning this war. So my choice will be to go home, and you leave me and my family alone.” She sates looking the demon King directly in the eyes.
“You have courage. I will give you that. But I am afraid you have little choice in this, my girl. I have someone very adamant on my side who will make sure this happens this time around.”
Out of the shadow walks Sylla and a dark woman. The woman cackles madly at Abby. She recognises that laugh from somewhere.
‘Abby, that Keres. That goddess of everything evil and dark,’ Ellie says in her mind, while not taking her eyes off her twin.
‘I know, but I wonder why she is here?’ Abby answers.
Keres walks to the thrones, conjuring a chair for herself. Sylla stands behind her.
“So, little Queen. The time has come for you to make a choice. Either you give up those adorable little pups willingly, or I will take them by force.” Keres states, while Sylla laughs.
“Oh, I do hope it will be by force. I have something to avenge.” She says.
“I will never give up my pups. Not to you, or anyone else. They belong with me as their mother, and their future mates.” Abby says confidently.
“Well, well, well. Look at that. A stubborn werewolf.” Keres says to the amusement of the room. Abby links to Jax to get Willow out of there, so she won’t get caught up in anything. She a feeling that this will turn ugly sooner rather than later.
Keres laughs, lifts a hand and is about to shoot something at Abby when the whole room lights up in all different colors.
Before the courts of the underworld, the royals and the goddess stand rest of the star wolves and Laurel.
Then another multicolored light blind everyone, and when they can see again the three upper realm goddesses stand before them. They all look absolutely outraged, and in a blink of an eye, the room is emptied. Jax takes Willow’s hand and teleports her to her room. He tells her to stay there, links Jasper to keep her company before teleporting back to the throne room.
The tension in there is thick and angry.
Laurus panics. This was not part of their plan.
