Luna Abigail
Chapter 45

Third person P.O.V.

“Well, now that everyone is gathered, I have an announcement to make. The council is hereby disbanded.” Abby states, and the room explodes in cheers and yells of disapproval.

“You, you. You cannot do that to us?! We have been here long before you were born.”

“How dare you? A witch who can turn into a puppy will not command us.”

“We will not accept this. You are no Queen, only a half-breed bitch.”

Abby stood there and listened to all their gall before raising her hand. Almost immediately, the room went quiet except for the offended old men. They were still shouting profanities at Abby on top of each other.

When she had enough, she released her aura on full power. Galaxy pushed forward so they were sharing the wheels, and her eyes shined with her magic. She turned to the men, who had paled considerably by this simple act of power.

“I will not hear another word out of your mouth. Yes, you have all been here in this position of power before I was born, and there, gentlemen, lies the problem. You are controlled by your own narrowed visions on how men and women should and should not act. Especially women have no place within your system of judgement.” She gestures to the room.

“You have allowed alphas to take a “pure” Luna and have their true mates as mistresses, knowing the pain their mates would endure when they marked another woman without rejecting their mate first. The pain whenever they have s*x with their taken Luna, and then pain of seeing another woman in the position of power, love and belonging they are robbed of. You, gentlemen, have allowed for woman to be abused, neglected and used as a power tool. I even heard of a few elder alphas who encourage breeding of “pure” alpha pups. What the actual f**k.”

Her stance tightens when she thinks of her own children. Never in their lives would they replace themselves in a position of being used. She would make sure of it. Especially Amber! Her children will always be protected by her, Matt, their pack, and family.

“Listen, Abigail, we don’t expect you to understand the complexity of the laws in the realm and in our fraction. You have only just ascended the throne, and you are still young. But I assure you, we are looking out for what is best for the werewolf community.” Abby rolls her eyes.

“You are hardly looking out for the best of the community of werewolf, but looking for the highest to pay your expensive living.” She waves at Brandon, who steps forward with papers in his hand.

“I had our accountants go over your salary payments and hold it up with the legal papers you are required to hand in every year, and something is not adding up. Then I wondered why it wouldn’t, but when I heard the rumors that your decisions are for sale to the highest payment, then I put two and two together.” She put the papers down and stared at the men in disgust.

“Me and Matthew then searched through countless of books, with the help of our extended family, and found the old law books. Did you know there use to be royalty among the werewolves? No? Hm that is odd, because according to the old books my family use to be the royals around here, and one of your predecessors payed an enormous sum to get my forefather to renounce the crown, and give the power to your council instead. He had a secret to uphold. His mate was not a wolf.” She shakes her head at the men who is standing as statues, eyes wide and mouth agape.

“You really didn’t think this young half-breed bitch would do her homework? I knew you would have a snitch or two among the alphas, betas and gammas here. So I did everything in my power to be prepared. The agreement from that time states that if one of his b***d comes forward to claim the throne once again, the council will be disbanded, until a time where they will be necessary again – which is never by the way.” Abby’s voice is intermingled with Galaxy and the power behind every word shakes the room and enters the hearts of everyone gathered there. Even the last two doubters among the alphas is convinced by her speech. They know it’s going to be hard work with the elder generations of their respective packs, but all of them will put in the work, if Abby is their Queen. No one else could ignite such loyalty.

“I was crowned, alongside my mate, by the moon goddess herself.” As the words leaves her mouth, her head is weighted down. The room gasp, and she looks to Matt. On his head is his crown, and when she feels her own head, hers is perked there as well.

Everyone in there spring to their feet, only to kneel down before their rulers. Abby, who hates the formalities, blush. This has to be Selen’s work. At that thought, a female laughter sounds in her mind.

‘Have to keep them on their toes,’ Selene’s voice whispers in her ear, and then she is gone. The six former council men look livid, but they can do nithing to prevent this.

They thought they could frighten or threaten this mere child into doing their bidding, but no. She had to as dead a*s stubborn as her forefather. It had taken them generations upon generations to replace a weak link, and now a filthy being as this girl came and took away their power.

Luckily for them, they had a plan moving in case this came to be the result.

They turned around, the sight of the kneeling people making them all sick to their stomach and stormed out.

Outside, they look at each other.

“The plan is moving. We need to get into position.” Alfred, the oldest councilman, says.

“And the girl?” His comrade asks. Just as an explosion rings through the grounds.

“She is free with the other prisoners.” Alfred answer, a cocky smirk on his face. He looks in the explosion’s direction. Five people are moving in their direction, as guards, pack members and witches run towards the fire. Some tries to stop the escapees, but the girl kills them on the spot and her magic.

“What the f**k took you so long?” She spits at the men, and Alfred crosses his arms.

“Well, we were not the ones captured, and we didn’t know for sure you were there before today.” He answers in a mocking tone. She sneers, but the others stop her.

“We don’t have time for this. We need to get to the forest. Quickly.”

They turn and make a break for it, when everyone from the gathering storms outside.

“THERE!” One of them yells while pointing toward the retreating figures.

“We’ll catch them at the protection line.” Morgan yells while running with the others.

Abby quickly mind-links the nannies to get the children to safety. She turns the direction of her mind-link to Kaiden and Laurel.

‘Get people to the safe room and join us when they are all there. Get guards to look after the rooms, but keep them hidden.’ She orders them, and they turn to run toward the homes and the old pack house.

Jonathan realises where the other beta couple is going and grabs Jasmin’s hands.

“Come on, we need to help them.” He says, while they both run after Kaiden and Laurel to get everybody to safety.

They have been attacked on their home territory. This would not end well for whom ever did this, Jonathan thought to himself while guiding women and children to the safe rooms hidden in plain sight.

While both beta couples got their pack members, shifter and magic folk alike, to safety, Abby and the others were chasing the former council men and their companions. Then Matt and Abby received a mind-link and Abby swore like a sailor while keeping up the pace.

“Narine and the others escaped from the prison. Someone blasted it off from the inside.” She can feel the fury from all her wolf sisters, who are all there by her side. Even Sami. SAMI!

“Sami, what the hell?” Abby skid to a halt.

“What are you doing here? Go to a safe room. NOW!” Abby yells at her friend and sister. Sami, however, is not having it.

“No!” Sami simply states before running past Abby and up to the other.

‘But your child.’ Abby tries in a mind-link.

‘Is perfectly safe. I can’t shift, but I still use my powers. Besides, I promised Ben I would stay by his side. Did you think he would have allowed me to come otherwise?’ Sami says in a stern tone. There is no place to argue with her, and Abby catches up to the others in no time. Fueled by the rage of Narine escaping, and the dawning realisation of someone blasted the prison from the inside. There was a spy. Someone they didn’t know about.

At the magic barrier, they are sure their prey will have to stop. But as they are nearing it, someone from the other side throws blue fireballs at them. The last thing Abby sees before being forced to retreat because of the blue fire is Narine’s smirk as she runs into the thick of the forest.

Abby joins hands with the other star wolves, making their powers stronger. All the girls’ eyes shine with their magic, and they eradicate the fire in no time. But it is too late. Their prisoners and the old men have escaped.

“Matt, we have a spy. There is a f*****g spy in our midst and I missed it!” Abby yells as they turn to walk back and inspect the damages. They have not allowed for the pack members to come out in the open yet. Everyone has a nagging feeling this is not over.

“None of us saw that coming, baby. It’s not just you.” Abby sighs.

“I know, but I feel responsible non the less.” She reveals.

Abby tries to mind-link the nannies to get a status on her children, but she can’t reach any of them. Why can’t she reach them? She should be in range to mind-link between them. A chilly feeling is spreading throughout her body.

“Matt, can you please reach the nannies? I must be too tired because I can’t.” She asks, trying to stay as calm as possible. Matt nods, hugging her to him. He tries several times but to no end. She can’t reach them either. When he tells Abby that, she freezes for a second before sprinting to the pack house, down the stairs and to the security door. The guards there are dead. Their throat cut open. Door ajar, and inside the three nannies to the twins and Mira Rose are laying on the ground. Dead. Their eyes were wide in horror as they took in their murderer.

‘They are gone! They are gone. No, no, no. Morgan, Brandon, I’m so, so sorry. They are all gone.’ Abby rambles in a joined mind-link to Matt, Morgan and Brandon.

‘Abby, we are coming. Stay there,’ Matt says, as he rushes towards his frantic mate.

Morgan reaches the room as the first. Her eyes narrow as she takes in the room. A single tear runs down her cheeks before cold fury takes over. She feels her sister and Queen are in the same state as her. No longer frantic, but cold, calm and calculated. Only a very few people are allowed here. The spy may have gotten their children, but they made a mistake of taking them here. They both knew how it was.

Matt and Brandon reach their mate. The stare they both give them sends chills down the guy’s spine. This is not their loving mates, but momma wolves on a mission. This person f****d up when they took their pups. In the girl’s eyes, their wolves are staring back at their mates.

“Protect the pack. We will get them back.” Galaxy says through Abby, and Matt nods. He walks to his mate.

“Find them and kill whoever took them. I will be here protecting the pack and waiting for you.” He k****s her forehead before letting her go. Brandon has had a silent mental conversation with Morgan, and he k****s her forehead as well.

As Abby emerges outside, she shifts seamlessly and howls to the sky. The howl is her Queen call, and it urges the others to shift.

‘We are going hunting,’ Galaxy states when all but Sami, stands at her side. Sami, who can’t shift, pecks Benjamin on the lips before she jumps on the back of Astra. Benjamin makes to protest, but as the wolves set into motion, all hell breaks loose around them.

Demons, rouges, dark witches and the devil incarnated herself overruns the borders.
