Luna Aleksa's Escape -
Luna Aleksa’s Escape Chapter 41
*Jackson POV*
As I stepped out of the car and turned around, I was pleasantly surprised to see Aleksa, the Luna that I had met at Evergreen in the dungeons. She looked to be in a much better place than the last time I saw her. Although I must say I am rather curious to know what she is doing here at Rocky Mountain of all places.
*Flashback -Jackson POV- From his time in Evergreen Pack Dungeons*
I am the Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack. I am 25 years old and I have yet to replace my fated mate, my Luna. I was never really too worried about replaceing a mate, but over time my wolf has become restless and I feel a sense of urgency within myself. I was hoping I might meet her at my sister Jade’s Luna Ceremony, but that wasn’t the case.
I was on my way back from Jade’s Luna Ceremony, as she had just met her mate a month ago, and it turned out he was Alpha Hawke, of the Crescent Moon Pack, which is a rather large pack in a territory in a nearby state. I was not far from home when I was attacked by rogues. I had done my best to avoid packlands and generally had good knowledge of the nearby packs, but I was in such a hurry to get back I decided to deviate from my planned route.
I was not far from Evergreen Pack territory when the attack occurred. It was a completely opportunistic attack by the looks of things. To be honest, they never really stood a chance. Even though I was outnumbered, they were really quite puny, feral-looking rogues, who were barely surviving by the looks of things.
Everything was going fine until I was blindsided by two of Evergreen’s pack warriors, and before I knew it, I was being dragged into Evergreen’s pack ground and tossed into the dungeon. I wasn’t worried. I knew I wouldn’t be here long. I knew the Alpha of this pack, and it wouldn’t be long until he came down to the cells to interrogate me. In which he would let me out straight away.
I must have dozed off because when I woke up next I heard the most intoxicating voice. From what I could tell, it was a young she-wolf, and she didn’t sound happy at all. Not that you would feel happy being locked in this filthy place. I could hear her talking to two of the other prisoners, who I assume were also rogues. I wasn’t getting that vibe from the girl in the cell directly opposite mine though. She sounded defiant, her voice had an air of importance to it. Now I am curious. I continued to listen to her sweet voice.
She spoke of how her mate had betrayed her and she pleaded with one of the warriors to help her get out of here. Although he was clearly not interested in helping her. Not surprisingly though, as he would be most loyal to his alpha and no doubt working within an alpha command.
I listen as he tells her he can’t help her and makes some excuse about doing rounds. I can hear the frustration and realization in her voice that he is loyal to his alpha, as she tries to backtrack to no doubt keep him from suspecting her intentions.
I take this as my chance to engage her in conversation. “Gutless! He could help you but he has his own agenda! So you are the Luna of Evergreen pack? What kind of an Alpha imprisons his own Luna? He doesn’t deserve you” I said as I huffed in annoyance.
“That is kind of you to say”. She says in return.
“You are brave to refuse and challenge your fated mate. Not many she-wolves could do that, they would be too enthralled by the mate bond. You must be very strong,” I said with respect.
“Lachlan imprisoned me because I tried to reject him. He is my fated mate, but he is unkind and cruel and he has betrayed our bond constantly. I don’t want any part of it”. She says, “Why are you in the dungeons? Can I ask what you did to end up here?” She asks me.
“I was attacked near the borders of your territory, by many rogues. I managed just fine in defending myself against the rogues until your warriors intervened and got in a cheap shot and blindsided me”. I said with venom in my tone.
“I wasn’t actually on your packlands. And I am waiting to speak with your Alpha”. I said defiantly.
“I am sure it’s just a misunderstanding, I have no doubt you will be on your way soon enough,” She says optimistically to me.
There’s something about her that I can’t put my finger on. I feel bad for her too. What kind of an alpha throws their luna into a dungeon?
I have this urge to get her out of this dungeon immediately, I want to take her away from here, and allow her to live her life on her terms. She is beautiful and she hasn’t done anything wrong.
I have the feeling that she will no longer live freely in this pack. From what I’ve heard this morning, her mate intends to keep her here against her will. That is no way to live.
I want to help her but I am greatly outnumbered here. I need to get out of this cell first so I will be civil with the prick. Then I will come back. I will gather several of my strongest warriors and we will come back for her.
At that moment, I heard a familiar voice. Lachlan. I can hear him taunting her, and threatening to keep her in the cells. And I can’t help but snicker at how pathetic he sounds.
“Who are you to laugh at me? Show yourself now before I rip you to shreds with my bare hands”, he yelled furiously.
“Lachlan Fang. It sure has been a while. You need to release me from this cell immediately.” I demanded.
“Apologies old friend, it seems there has been a misunderstanding. My warriors obviously did not know who you were. Otherwise, they never would have locked you up here.” He says nervously as he unlocks my cell door.
I pushed past the cell door and walked right up to his face. “I expect someone will be held accountable for this. I was barely near your territory when the attack started with the rogues,” I declared angrily.
“Yes Jackson, I will get to the bottom of this. We don’t generally interfere if an attack is happening outside of the pack territory, so I’m not sure what has happened in this instance”. He nervously insisted.
I look towards his Luna and I feel anger that she’s in this position. I feel angry that I can’t do anything about it right now. But I have to play along for now. I will get justice for her. Just not today.
“Tell me Lachlan, why is your Luna sitting on the floor in this god-forsaken dungeon?” I asked.
“My Luna and I are having a little disagreement on something. I am teaching her a lesson. Don’t worry about her. Let’s get you upstairs, I think we need to have a whiskey.” Lachlan said while motioning for me to proceed forwards.
“I can’t imagine what one would do to warrant being thrown in the dungeon and treated like a criminal, Lachlan. ” I looked at him questionably.
Now Lachlan is the one who is snickering. “That’s not your concern Jackson. Come now, let’s get you on your way”. And with that, he motions me toward the exit.
I don’t look back because I feel too guilty. But I made a promise to myself that I would be back tomorrow and I would get her out of this pack. Whatever it takes.
When upstairs, I declined Lachlan’s offer of a whiskey. I say I need to get back to my pack, perhaps another time. With that, I shifted into my wolf and ran off in the direction of my pack as quickly as my legs could move me.
I got back to the Blue Moon pack in no time at all. I mind-linked several of my elite warriors and asked them to meet me at the training grounds. This is where I proceed to tell them what is happening in the Evergreen pack. I tell them what I know about Lachlan imprisoning his Luna in the dungeons and I explain that she is important and must be rescued.
No one questions my motives, my elites are unconditionally loyal to me, we are a tight pack and we would all gladly die for one another. We end the meeting and prepare for our mission. Just before dusk today we will rescue Aleksa and bring her back here. She doesn’t have to stay here, but perhaps she may want to until she figures out what she will do next. Although part of me hopes that she may want to stay.
