Chapter 12: Moving In With Him
Chapter twelve: Moving In With Him
Elena.
Nicholas grabbed my arms and started shaking me violently. The pain ist subsided in my ribs came back with a vengeance, I tried to break from his grip but his grasp was like an iron. His short fingernails extended into claws and began digging into my skin.
“Time to have a little chat.” He spat and was about to pull me from the bed when the door of the room opened.
“Stop!” I heard a small feminine voice yelling. She ran towards him to pry his hands off me. She was a little more than half of Nicholas’s size so her efforts were pretty much useless.
“Pest.” Noches hissed, he turned around and grabbed her neck, lifting her into the air as if she weighed nothing.
“You should learn not to interfere with matters that don’t concern you? He said to her, he flung her across the room like a rag doll, her back hit the wall hard and she fell to the floor with a loud thud. I grasped looking at the girl who was barely moving. I pulled the sheets off my legs and went to help her stand up but Nicholas grabbed my arms, halting me.
“You might have killed her! She needs help!” I yelled at him.
“She is a maid and can easily be replaced. You are coming with me.” He said to me, I struggled in his grip, trying to fight him but his grip was secure around my arms. He tightened his grip which caused me to biss in pain as I felt my bones squeeze under the pressure.
“Nicholas!” A voice yelled from the doorway. It is Bernard, he is here. I felt the wave of relief flood my body. Nicholas turned and looked to the entrance where Bernard stood. His face was red and I could see the veins in his arms protruding. His wolf was close to the surface and he was doing his best to hold him back.
“Release her at once!” He ordered, Nicholas obeyed and released me from his grip. I fell back onto my bed and thankfully not onto the
floor like last time.
“What is the meaning of this?” Bernard stalked into my room and walked up to Nicholas. His eyes were focused solely on him like a target.
“I was doing as you told me, Alpha. She was being difficult so I sought a new method.” He responded.
“I told you to replace answers not torture her, Nicholas. She is injured and you may have just injured her further when you were thrashing her around like a damn rag doll.” He said to him.
“Alpha, if I may…” Nicholas started.
“You may not, Nicholas. When I tell you something I expect you to listen. You are my second in command and I am your superior. You take orders from me, not make them up yourself.” Bernard straightened up an air of authority around him.
“If you were any other wolf, I would have lashed you but since you are my Beta, I will let you off with a warning.” He muttered to him and his eyes flashed as he continued.
“But, if I ever catch you treating Elena like that again, it will be your head. Are we understood?” Nicholas stood staring at him with his jaw locked in place. Bernard stepped right up to Nicholas so they were toe to toe.
“Are we understood?” Nicholas held Bernard’s gaze for a second before he lowered his head in submission.
“Yes, Alpha.” He responded.
“Good, now get out of my sight.” Bernard muttered. Nicholas stepped away from Bernard and left the room. He didn’t dare to look back.

Are you okay? Brand rished to my side. I nodded at him and gestured to the girl who was still on the floor. She was making small
Is so that means she is still alive.
Help her, Berant. I said to him but his eyes were still on me.
“You are hurt.” He touched the small, bleeding cut on my shoulder. They must have been from Nicholas’s claws, I shook my head.
“I am fine, just
little shaken. She needs your help more than me, Bernard.” I said to him and he followed my gaze and saw the girl on the floor. He went to her and helped her stand up and when the girl saw Bethard, she instantly bowed her head in submission out of respect.
“Are you alright?” Bernard asked her.
“Yes, Alpha.” She replied in a timid voice. She was clutching her side so I knew that she was lying. She wasn’t okay and needed to be looked at by a doctor to make sure nothing was bruised or bleeding.
“I don’t think you are fine, I will get one of the doctors to have a look at your ribs for you.” She nodded but didn’t dare to look up at her
Alpha.
Liam walked in a few moments later, looking a little worse for wear. As it turned out, he had been outside the door trying to hold Nicholas
back but failed.
“Bernard.” Liam called with a stoic expression on his face.
“Yes, Liam?” Bernard responded. Liam glanced at me and then focused his eyes back onto Bernard.
“We need to move Elena into your house today, she isn’t safe here, yesterday and today proved that she needs time to heal in a safe
environment and the hospital is currently not that place.” Liam said.
Wait, what? I am moving in with Bernard?
Bernard left the hospital after him and Liam spoke about the arrangements for me to move into his mansion. I tried to protect against it but they both agreed that I would be safest in his house. My wolf was excited about it but I was dreading the whole ordeal. Being close to Bernard would only complicate things further. If we were to be confined in the same area for an hour and no end, I didn’t know if I would be able to fight off the mate pull.
“I am sure he won’t come back a third time, I don’t need to move in with Alpha Bernard.” I had been trying to convince Liam to let me stay in the hospital for the past hour but he wasn’t having it.
“Elena, we are doing this for your own safety.” I sighed.
“But why Bernard’s house? Isn’t there any other place I can go like maybe a safe house or even your house? I promise I will be a great housemate, I am low maintenance and you wouldn’t even know I was there.” I said to him but he shook his head.
“Sorry, no can do. My house is even less secure than the hospital. People just come and knock whenever they please since I am the head doctor in the Pack. Bernard’s house is the best option because it is one of the most secure places in the entire compound.” Liam explained
to me.
I would have argued more with him but I knew it was pointless. He wasn’t going to listen, both of them had made up their minds much to my dismay. I am moving in with Bernard whether I liked it or not. Liam helped me into the wheelchair after Bernard left. He leaves the drip and treats the claw mark that Nicholas inflicted. My wolf said it was finally healing me, although she is still weak but was stronger than she had been for the past few days. Liam rolled us out of the room and started heading to Bernard’s house.
Under normal circumstances, I would have been overjoyed that I was moving in with my mate but the situation was different. Of all the wolves in the world, I had to be mated to an Alpha. This would have been easier had my mate been just an ordinary wolf. But being the mate of an Alpha meant that I was to be his Luna and that was a lot of responsibility.

“Penny for your thoughts?” Liam asked as he pushed me into the elevator.
“Nothing.” I replied.
“I am just thinking about how weird it is going to be sharing a space with Alpha Bernard.” I muttered.
“If you are worried about Bernard, you have nothing to worry about. I have known him ever since we were little, we basically grew up together.”
“So, you guys are close then?” I asked, I wanted to learn about their dynamic but if I was being really honest, I wanted to know more about Bernard.
“Yes.” He responded and I could hear the smile in his voice.
“We are basically like brothers. We did everything together, played the same sports, listened to the same music and even went for the same girls. The last girl caused a few fights.” He responded, I don’t like the last part. I didn’t like the thought of Bernard being with anyone else but me.
