Luna's Rejected Vengeful Mate -
Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 21
Blake
I returned to the guest room with Natalia’s luggage while she was still in the bathroom-I left it near the bed and gave her some space to get ready for breakfast, where she would meet the pack members for the first time.
Lucas had returned with my father, and I had already told him to inform the pack members to gather at the packhouse entrance in an hour. I knew the cure to Natalia’s anxiety was food, and I was sure she needed to eat before meeting my people.
I left the room again, giving my wife some privacy to get dressed. I wanted to prepare everything for the meeting with the two Alphas that would arrive for our appointment that morning.
Lucas and I were checking some paperwork, but my mind constantly strayed to Natalia, wondering whether she was ready or not. Unable to control myself, I left everything to Lucas and went to check on Natalia.
She was still in the bedroom, dressed in a delicate cream business suit and a tight black shirt. A cream and black silk scarf was evenly wrapped around her swan-like neck, hiding the love bites from the night before. Her long dark hair spiralled in curls that bounced with her every move, flattering her lightly made-up face.
“I see you are ready. Let’s have some breakfast, and then you can meet my people, our people, I mean,” I said casually, trying to make her feel more comfortable.
I led the way to the dining room, and we ate silently. I knew Natalia was worried about meeting my pack members as their new Luna.
“There is nothing to worry about, Nat. My people will love you because they know I wouldn’t marry anyone without being sure after what happened to me with Elizabeth. So, it doesn’t matter that you’re her sister. If they see that I am happily married, they will accept you as their Luna. All we need to do is show them that we are happy with each other and that you support me in leading the pack to more prosperous days.” I was surprised by the soothing tone I’d used to put her at ease. Why was it so important to me that she felt comfortable meeting everyone?
“Because whether you admit it or not, you have feelings for her, you i***t,” Aries replied, forgetting that Leia might be listening.
“I don’t feel her wolf right now, Blake. It’s as if she had left Natalia by herself. Or maybe she is getting ready for the upcoming match with me,” Aries bragged. How could Leia leave Natalia behind? Aries was probably overreacting.
When we finished breakfast, I took Natalia outside, where everyone waited for us, including my father and Lucas. Holding her hand steadily, I hugged Natalia’s waist and stood in front of my people.
“My dear friends, most of you have been nagging me for years to get a loving Luna and make this pack happier by giving you an heir. I know that you all hoped I would replace my second chance mate, but since that never happened, I would like to introduce you to my chosen mate and wife, your Luna, Natalia White.” The tone of my voice, full of determination, stopped the whispers that had erupted during my speech.
With a swift movement, I turned Natalia’s body to face me- caressing her face with my fingers and looking straight into her eyes; I softly continued.
“I know that most of you have probably wondered why I chose Natalia White as my mate. She’s Alpha Ray White’s younger daughter and the rightful heir to his position. She’s much more important, though- she was my best and trusted friend years ago. So I decided to choose someone I could trust with my pack’s safety and best interests as my Luna. Please welcome my wife and assist her with anything she needs until she takes things into her hands. It won’t be for long because Natalia is more than efficient.”
I could see that my words affected Natalia-her eyes filled with tears, and her lower l*p trembled. I knew what would follow-my wife was about to cry. Smiling at her, I lowered my head and took her trembling lips into a soft, comforting k**s, holding her close to me and gaining applause and cheers from everyone.
That worked! Not a single pack member would doubt I had feelings for my wife. Natalia’s reaction, accepting my k**s and hugging me back, made things more manageable. She was a good actress.
“Why don’t you just admit what a dork you are, Blake?” Aries swore at me and then blocked me.
What the hell was that supposed to mean? I tried to get back at my wolf but could not since Aries insisted on putting the walls up.
Ending the k**s with my wife, I looked at her, and she looked confused and shy at my actions.
“I think we succeeded in the first step, getting them to accept you, Nat. Just smile at them and say no more for now,” I whispered as I left a small k**s on her nose and turned to face my pack members again.
“Getting to know you all at once will be difficult, but I will arrange a gathering tomorrow evening, and that will give you the time to see your Luna and talk to her. If you’ll excuse us, we have a meeting to attend, and since Natalia is a lawyer, I will need her with me.”
With that, I intertwined my fingers with Natalia’s, went back into the house and straight to my office, my father, Lucas and Jacob following us.
“Way to go, my boy. I am happy to see you two accepting each other quickly, which will benefit our packs and the alliance. Princess, are you doing this on your own or has this stone-headed son of mine threatened you with something?” My father sounded worried when he addressed Natalia, and I was curious about her response.
Smiling reassuringly at my dad, Natalia placed her delicate fingers on my arm.
“There is nothing to worry about, Uncle. Blake and I came to a mutual understanding and will do our best to make things work.”
She then turned to me.
“So, Blake, how about you fill me in about the two Alphas coming today? You said you needed my help-is there anything bothering you?”
Holy s**t!
I witnessed her transform from the well-intended wife who made my father smile to the impersonal and cold lawyer from one moment to the next, which did things to me and my shaft. I wanted to send everyone out of the room and fuc.k her hard, laying her on the surface of my desk. So, before answering, I hid behind my desk, taking my place in my chair, still feeling uncomfortable with my hardening bulge and improper thoughts but safe from four pairs of prying eyes.
Natalia
I was anxious to meet Blake’s people. What worried me most was how Blake would introduce me to his pack-I never expected the introduction he made. I was expecting the worst but was surprised when my husband praised my ability and our friendship, pointing out that I was the person he could trust the most to become his Luna.
I could not control my feelings at the sound of his voice and the way he held me close- he was so tender and sweet and took me entirely by surprise when he decided to k**s me when my tears were ready to fall, embarrassing me in front of everyone.
His k**s was soft and tender, and I melted in his arms. That was until he whispered about the first step to get his people to accept me as their Luna. I returned to my senses, realising everything that player did, he did it for a purpose, and we were both players in the same game trying to win. I shouldn’t get too excited about Blake’s fake affection for me.
So, when Blake released me to talk to his members again, I plastered a smile and looked around curiously, trying to see whether there were any familiar faces. Dr Timothy was standing at the back, the medical staff around him. That’s when I noticed that young doctor, Emma, and the look of hatred on her face made me shiver. I stared at her with a poker face, my lips forming a thin line, not giving her the pleasure of realising how upset I was. In the end, she was the one who looked away from me, lowering her head in submission. I didn’t miss Timothy’s playful smirk, but when I looked at him with the same expression, he lowered his head. Time for them to know who they were dealing with last night.
I was more than happy when Blake led me into the house. Doing business would take my mind off other thoughts- I didn’t want to get engrossed in manipulations.
I had to act one more time when Blake’s father asked me if I was doing all those things out of goodwill, and I did pretty well there too-by the time the charade called marriage with Blake ended, I would be a master of disguise and pretence. I should consider an acting career or something.
I needed to distract myself, so blocking my personal feelings, I went into professional mode and asked Blake to inform me about the meeting he would have.
“One of them is from Texas, and he is the Alpha of the most powerful pack there. He aims to organise an alliance against the rogues. The other is Alpha Ace Jones. Do you remember Ace? He was good friends ….”
“No need to continue, Blake. I remember who Ace is. So, now he’s the Alpha of the Paradise pack?”
“Yes, and the strange thing is that he hasn’t been in touch with me for the last ten years. I wonder why he is looking for me now.”
“Maybe they have encountered rogue attacks, and that’s what’s bothering him? Maybe he’s just trying to protect his territory?”
“We’re about to replace out. I’ve just been informed that our visitors have arrived, and they’ll be shown to my office.”
Not long after, the two guests arrive at Blake’s office. The Texan Alpha was a bulky, handsome man around Blake’s age, and the moment he laid eyes on me, I saw interest and admiration in his eyes. Blake saw it too, and at lightning speed, he left his office and stood next to me, holding my hand and giving the Texan Alpha a warning look that made the other man smile and nod in understanding.
As for the other one, no introductions were needed- Alpha Ace Jones had the same features he had years ago, short and muscular, with a square face, tiny button, shrewd eyes, and a crooked nose. I’d always been uncomfortable around him in the past, feeling the need to leave as soon as he entered a room.
Nevertheless, Blake made the introductions.
“Baby, this is Alpha Lawrence Carson from the Pinewood pack in Texas, and this is Alpha Ace Jones of the Paradise pack here in California. Gentlemen, this is my Luna, Natalia.”
Ace stared at me for a while, squinting his eyes, not commenting. After shaking hands, we took our seats at Blake’s conference table. Alpha Lawrence was a clever man, and he had come with his intentions clear. He wanted to join the alliance, exchanging his knowledge with the rest of the Alphas to protect his pack and the other packs in Texas from the rogue attacks.
“There are rumours that someone is providing the rogues with guns and silver bullets,” Alpha Lawrence said, and Blake and Ace agreed. I couldn’t help but notice the look Ace gave Blake when my husband’s attention was on the map Alpha Lawrence had spread on the table to point out where the most rogue attacks had occurred in Texas.
Something was wrong with that guy. I wasn’t sure what it was, but I would replace out. Using one of my tactics of surprise, I decided to check him out.
I touched my husband’s arm to get his attention, and when Blake turned to me, I spoke innocently, looking at him and watching Ace from the corner of my eye.
“Blake, honey, what if one of you Alphas helped the rogues, giving them information and providing the guns and the bullets they use? Could that be possible?”
“It didn’t cross my mind, baby, but come to think of it, you may be right,” my husband replied thoughtfully and squeezed my hand while Ace went pale and moved uncomfortably in his chair.
I thought, “Gotcha, Ace,” and smiled at my husband, nodding my head. Alpha Ace Jones just got me on his tail.
