Luna’s Rejected Vengeful Mate Chapter 7
Dark Moon Stone Pack, California
Blake
I was in my office looking at the latest offer of the construction materials needed to build the two schools I had promised Alpha Jack Saunters of the White Creek Pack. That was the only request Alpha Saunders had made before stepping down from his position during the merging of our packs last Sunday.
I lost count of how many times I tried calculating the prices and ensuring everything was correct. I couldn’t get my mind off bickering with Natalia on the phone a few days ago. The woman had piqued my interest; she irritated me. The Natalia I knew would never dare provoke me or question any of my decisions. She was an obedient and low-profile young girl. The new Natalia, though, was trouble. I could sense that from what she’d said about me to her father that day.
“Fuc. k!” I slammed my fist on the desk and tossed the folder away. I ran my fingers through my hair, swearing a couple more times before Lucas showed up.
“Hey, Blake, what’s wrong?”
“Lucas, did you call the old man’s doctor? How is he doing?”
“Yeah, I called his doctor a while ago. He will discharge Alpha White today since he is feeling better and will have to stay in bed for some time until he recovers completely.”
“And James? Did you speak to him?”
“No, he wasn’t there. Something came up, and he left the pack early this morning.”
“Lucas, are you sure?”
“Yes, Blake. Our informant sent me a message first thing this morning-James left in his car around six and hardly had any breakfast.”
Lucas’s words had me on my feet in no time. I pushed my chair back, grabbed my phone and car keys, and headed to the door.
“Something fishy is going on, Lucas. Get ready. We are going to the Moon Howlers pack.”
“Blake?”
“Now, Lucas, now. Those basts.ards are trying to set me up again. I can feel it. LET’S GO! NOW!” I growled, and Lucas rushed to my side, no more questions asked.
I stepped on the gas and drove to the Moon Howler’s pack with Lucas by my side. Neither of us spoke, and the atmosphere felt loaded as if with gunpowder.
Lucas broke the silence when we took the turn leading to the Moon Howlers’ territory.
“Blake, what if nothing is as you suspect? Maybe there is another reason James left in a rush today.”
“I don’t trust them, Lucas. I would rather check things out myself. I will not allow another embarrassment to come from the White family. Never again,” I growled, and my wolf Aries interrupted.
“Blake, whatever it is that you’re thinking, don’t upset that old man today. Your father will never forgive you if anything happens to his friend because of you.”
“Thanks for supporting me, Aries,” I mocked my wolf, and he blocked me after calling me a jerk. I liked the way my wolf and I shared our feelings. No pretension, no hard feelings between us-only the plain truth.
The guards at the gates let me pass, knowing who I was. I parked my car by the packhouse, where Alpha White’s Gamma waited for me.
“Where is your Alpha?” I questioned, not greeting him.
“Inside”-he looked at me and entered the house, leading the way to where his Alpha was.
I found Alpha Ray lying in bed, with the doctor beside him, arranging the medical equipment needed for his observation.
“Blake? What are you doing here so early? Did anything happen?”
The older man’s voice came out with difficulty, and he started coughing. I stood still, waiting for it to pass, and when he lay exhausted back on his pillows, I spoke.
“I was curious to see how you were doing, so I decided to stop by. Also, I wanted to know if you have any news for me.”
“News? What kind of news, Blake?”
“Now, Alpha Ray, let’s stop pretending, shall we? You know what I am talking about, so don’t mess with me. Has your daughter contacted you? Has she given you an answer to my request?” I couldn’t help the mocking tone of my voice, despite Aries calling me names in my mind.
“No, Blake, I have not spoken to my daughter since last Saturday. Do you think my position allowed me to talk to Natalia about anything?” Alpha Ray’s last words were choked by a cough that rocked his body.
I didn’t have time to reply-his brother and Beta, James, pushed the door open and entered the room.
“Why do you keep bugging a sick man, Blake? Can’t you see he is in no condition to give you a positive reply?” James’s hostile tone and shrieking voice irked me instantly.
“It’s Alpha Hunter to you, James, and no. I need to have his reply this week, or I will not be able to help your pack. Your time is running out, so you’d better hurry.”
“Blake, why do you insist so much on marrying my Natalia?” Alpha Ray asked in a weak voice, but all I could think at the time was that he probably thought I insisted on marrying Natalia because I felt something for her.
“Hey, old man. Don’t even think I was ever interested in your oversized daughter; she will just be the means to making sure you will not try to set me up after we sign the contract—nothing else,” I replied coldly. Alpha Ray started coughing again, more intensely this time. His body shook uncontrollably, and the doctor placed an oxygen mask on his face.
I stepped forward – I felt the need to get closer to him, but the doctor stopped me. Someone pushed the door open and entered the room, and I turned to see who it was.
The woman who entered the room set my primitive instincts on fire. She swayed in her black leather heels, her sexy figure in skin-tight jeans that flattered her long, toned legs and exposed the sexiest as.s I had ever laid eyes on in my life. She passed right next to me, not sparing me a glance, and the sweet smell of her perfume, vanilla chocolate, hit my nostrils, arousing all my senses.
She completely ignored my presence and walked to Alpha Ray-she bent over and kissed his face.
“Who is she? What is she doing here? I couldn’t think straight, feeling aroused just by looking at her. “What the heck is wrong with me? I don’t even know who she is, and my manhood is hard like a rock.”
“Me neither, but I would gladly fuc.k her right here, right now,” Aries howled, and it was the first time today that my wolf agreed with me.
“You wish, you di.ck, dream on!” A female wolf’s voice replied in disdain, rendering Aries and me speechless.
“What the he.ll? What is going on here? How could someone else listen to our conversation?” My thoughts got interrupted by the older man’s voice.
“Natalia?” Alpha Ray’s surprised voice startled me, but what blew my mind was what he called her.
“Wait! What? No way! No f**k.ing way! The old man is losing it, that’s it.”
“Hello, Dad!” She smiled at a shocked Alpha Ray and caressed his hair.
“Natalia? What the fu.ck? It must be some joke, right?”
She stood up and locked eyes with me. The same blue eyes I remembered, more feminine, more beautiful, penetrated deep down to my soul and shook my world. Her rosy, plump lips were sexy and inviting like sin. She stared at my face, and then her eyes travelled up and down my torso, making me uncomfortable. She looked up, a mocking smile on her face.
“What is she doing? Is she checking me out? What the….?”
“Hello there, Alpha Hunter. You were saying?” Her tone was indifferent towards me. Her hoarse sensual voice struck a sensitive nerve down in my private area, and I was sure I had just had the most embarrassing moment of my life. There was no way I could hide my e******n from her eyes.
She looked down at the reason for my embarrassment and smiled sheepishly. I put both hands in my pockets, trying to save some of my dignity.
“Cat got your tongue, Alpha Hunter? Oh, now I get it. You talked to my father about me just before I entered the room. I mean, how you are not into his oversized daughter, am I right? Well, your buddy down there doesn’t seem to agree with you, dear Blake,” she spat my name with venom, and I automatically growled at her insult, which she returned at the same volume. Aries freaked out and wanted to come forward.
“Let me out, now! Let’s see if she will talk like that when I am done with her!”
“Come on; you pri.ck. Let’s see what you’ve got,” the female wolf’s voice provoked Aries. “Was that Natalia’s wolf? But how could that be?” Unable to get an answer, I blocked my wolf to avoid more bickering between him and the female wolf until I had my answers.
“Natalia?” Alpha Ray pulled her by the arm, gaining her attention.
She turned to him and smiled, holding his hand tightly.
“Don’t worry, Dad. It’s nothing. Alpha Hunter and I have unfinished business and need to sort it out. Is it okay if we use your office for a while? We have a contract to look into anyway.” The way she talked to her father was so sweet, but the look she gave me was deadly.
My senses were on high alert-Natalia was unpredictable, and she was nothing like her old self. I was curious to see her reaction when we were left alone and after she read the terms on the contract.
“Okay, my child. Do you want James to join you?”
“No, Dad, that’s not necessary. I can handle it myself. Besides, Alpha Hunter made his intentions clear- he is not into me. And the way I see it, he may be the big bad wolf, but I am not a little red riding hood. So, Alpha Hunter, shall we go to my father’s office?”
Not waiting for me to reply, she kissed her father and left his room, heading to his office. I turned on my heels and followed her, frowning. I had to break that self-esteem of hers, or else I would be in deep trouble soon enough.
“Oh, boy, things are heating up. Dealing with her will be fun,” Aries took the walls down and teased me. “Blake, you will have your hands full with this one. Good luck, boy. When you are done with her, I want to deal with her wolf.”
“Let’s wait and see how your dear Blake will be after Natalia deals with him, and then you can try your luck with me, wolfy!” I was sure that the voice belonged to Natalia’s wolf by the way she mocked Aries.
“Sassy! I like that! It will be so much fun dealing with you, baby.” My wolf was excited about bickering with the female wolf.
“Leia, enough. There’s no need for you to deal with Blake’s wolf. I will handle it myself. I will let you know if I need you, okay?” Natalia’s stern voice stopped both wolves from fighting and startled me-was she also able to hear our wolves’ conversation? Something was wrong. We were neither connected in any way nor belonged to the same pack. How could our wolves communicate like that?
I looked at her walking in front of me, not even looking back to ensure I followed.
A sardonic smile appeared on my face. Daddy’s little princess forgot that the cards were all mine. They were the ones that needed my help, and I would be the one to set the terms. She would soon replace that out, though. And then we would play by my rules.
We entered the office, and Natalia walked behind her father’s desk and sat on his chair. She motioned for me to take a seat, and I crossed my long legs and leaned back in the chair, waiting for her to begin.
“So, Alpha Hunter, since you were so eager to bring me back to California, would you care to elaborate on the whole contract thing, especially the condition that involves me?”
“Oh, come on, Natalia! Why don’t we skip the formalities? We have known each other for many years.”
“Do we? Well, in my opinion, you know nothing about me, and I don’t care to know anything about you, Alpha Hunter. Now, back to the contract. I would like to see it, please.”
The formality in her voice was unpleasant to my ears. But what was I expecting from her, anyway? To be thrilled with my demand and rush to marry me without any resistance?
I gave her the contract, and she got lost in reading the papers and taking notes. She had become the professional advocate that I was informed she was in no time. I stared as her long dark hair covered her face while she flipped the pages reading, and I felt the need to stand up and remove it from her face. I watched as she picked it up in a messy bun, exposing her long white neck to me.
She bit the end of her pen while staring at the clauses on the contract. That made me hard down there again. I watched as her teeth held the end, her full lips touched the rest of the pen, and dirty thoughts came to mind.
Good thing Natalia was absorbed in reading because I would be embarrassed again. I tried hard to regain control and pretended to be indifferent to her.
“So, Alpha Hunter, the way I see it, you are blackmailing my father and me with this contract.” She looked up from the papers and pushed her chair back, straightening her upper body and crossing her arms in front of her, sizing me up.
I mimicked her posture and lazily replied, “is that how you see it, Miss White? In my opinion, I am securing the alliance-none of us would want to betray a family member, correct? Although it won’t be the first time for either of us.”
I watched as her eyes went dark, almost pitch-black; I knew I had provoked her with my last words. With an abrupt movement, she stood up and moved in front of me, her face pale and her lips pursed.
“Don’t you dare compare me to my sister, Blake! Not now, not ever! Is that clear? I was forced to leave my house and my father mainly because of you, her, and your stupid brother’s actions! For f**k.ing ten years, the only way I could see or talk to my Dad was the bloody phone. So don’t you ever compare me to any of you,” she roared, and turned away from me. She opened the balcony door and stepped outside.
I watched as she held the railings and looked outside, her body shaking with anger. For the first time, I felt guilty knowing I was the main reason for her sudden disappearance. I wanted to go to her and explain my actions- she didn’t give me a chance, though.
She turned back and locked eyes with me. Straightening her posture, she walked inside and sat behind her father’s desk. Picking up the contract, she spoke sternly.
“I will accept your conditions for the sake of my father and our pack members. But, there are some additional terms I want to add before signing.”
“Do you honestly believe you are in a position to set any terms on this contract?” I couldn’t help but mock her.
“Either you accept to add my terms, or you can forget about the alliance between my father and you. And don’t think I am stupid. I know well that you will also benefit from this alliance, Blake. So, take it or leave it! It’s up to you.”
“f**k, Blake, she is more stubborn than you. May our Moon Goddess help us deal with her and her wolf,” Aries chipped in, and I couldn’t agree more.
“So, what’s it going to be, your Highness?” Her sassy tone aroused me. All I wanted to do was to lay her down in that office and have my way with her, showing her who had the upper hand.
“What are your terms, Miss White?” I asked in a cold voice, hiding my thoughts from her. She kept quiet, probably not expecting this reply.
“So? I am all ears!” I insisted with a sarcastic smile on my face and watched as she pondered on what to say.
“Let’s see what your thoughts are, Natalia,” I sneered inwardly. She surprised me when she replied immediately.
“Trust me; you wouldn’t like to know what I think, Blake!”
“What the hell? How does she know what I thought right now?” I looked at her, perplexed. She gave me a wry smile and replied mockingly,
“Why are you so surprised, Blake? Your expression says it all. You are like an open book to me.”
“What?”
I stared at Natalia, trying to understand what she had just said, and she smiled gibingly.
“So, shall we go on, Alpha Hunter?”
