Lycanthropy
Chapter Thirty

A thousand miles to the south:

It was a few days later now. I had been traveling back to my castle, in wolf form, alone. As I couldn’t handle the things that had been happening to me, at the mountain.

Winston had been howling for hours, upon never being able to get close to his dear Dakota again.

I looked down at my paws, while they were pounding on the ground, pushing themselves forward, mindlessly, aimlessly, until we would arrive at the palace again.

The cushions beneath my paws were torn, from the constant running, and my black fur was covered in blood. I had ripped Drake’s heart out, and tore his chest to shreds. He hadn’t seen it coming from me, as the years he had been one of my councillors, he had never seen me this angry. But what he had done now, was beyond repair. His foul words, as if he was really caring for my well-being, made her believe, that I had told my council, that she was dangerous. That she was indeed the uncontrollable creature that stood in that leather-bound book.

But I hadn’t. Well, I had shown them the book, but I also told them, that she wasn’t anything like the creature in there. As after the ball, I had explained to them, that she had restrained herself, from killing at least four different men, all who were antagonizing her.

But Drake only saw what he wanted to see. The rabid creature, that stood on that page.

And because he killed one of her warriors, she had unknowingly, shifted into her Lycan. Which only confirmed the fears of the other councillors.

He had twisted the situation, forcing others to say and think like he wanted them to, once again. To get rid of whatever he despised. And in this case, it was the danger of the Lycan, and he succeeded.

From her side, she had rejected our bond, which gave me a hollow and empty feeling. As if I send a million messages with my phone, to an unknown number. And the pain that came crushing in with her rejection, was almost unbearable. As if my heart was being torn out, clean out of my chest, every single minute of the day.

But I hadn’t formally rejected her, from my side, so my love for her would remain the same. As that what it is, I love her. And from here on out, I decided that I would never reject her, as the pain is a punishment, for my own stupidity.

I should have killed Drake, earlier, before this all started. But I had delayed that decision, because I can’t just kill one of my councillors, when they say something that angers me. I would lose trust in the others, and upon seeing their face, I did, the moment I sent him off to hell.

She was right, I wasn’t worthy enough to be the King, but even worse, I wasn’t worthy enough to be her mate.

Upon reaching the stairs, that lead up to the main entrance of my palace, my Beta Michael came rushing out.

“Goddess fuck! What happened!” He yelled to me.

“Drake happened.” Is all I said, while walking inside.

I walked inside to the bar, grabbed a bottle of whiskey, and saw it was one of ‘The Golden Brothers’ and smashed it against the wall. I took a different bottle with me, and went up to my room.

The whole bottle downed, I let myself fall onto my bed, and stayed there for several days. Everything could be stolen from me, I don’t care. In fact, everything had been stolen from me already, so why should I bother to continue to live on?

The land in the north:

“I’m coming to you, big sis. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of you.” Amy said to me over the phone.

“No, don’t. You are happy with your mate. And I’m perfectly fine.” I replied.

“Alright. But call me, when you need me. Deal?” She asked me.

“Of course, little sis, now go back to sleep.” I said, and hung up the phone.

Apparently, Daniel had arrived at the palace just now, and looked worn out, battered, hurt and bloody. So, of course Amy called me to ask me what had happened.

I explained her, and told her that I had rejected him. She became furious at me, as she would do with me, like she always did. Shrieking and yelling loudly, as if I wasn’t her Alpha. But I had shrugged her off, as I didn’t care what I had done.

In fact, rejecting him, gave me some sort of freedom. I wasn’t forced to make a decision anymore, as I didn’t had to leave my pack now. And besides that, I wasn’t forced anymore to try and figure out my emotions. Love was gone, I never have to figure out what love means anymore.

I had called upon a meeting, where my Beta, all my Delta’s, lead warriors of all the packhouses and many more, that are important for organizing my pack, had been required to attend.

“My dear pack members.” I boomed with my Alpha voice, over the noise that they had emitted in confusion as why they should be here.

“As of effective immediately, we no longer report back to Alpha King Daniel. We are an united front of our own, and the river and the ocean, are to be our land’s boundaries.” I said to them, and many reached out with their hands up, asking silently for permission to talk.

I waved them away, and continued my story.

“The King, has never shown me any reason, why he should be the ruler of all the packs of our continent. I am the ruler of this pack, and I believe that I have shown you enough to be worthy of that title.” I said and some cooperative howls, were heard.

Not everyone seemed to be completely understanding what was going on, as they frowned towards me.

“To make myself even more clear, King Daniel, turned out to be my true mate. But he couldn’t even keep his people in check, and made them kill young Brandon. My condolence has been given to the family.” I said while looking at Brandon’s parents, who were tearing up again. “Henceforth, I have formally rejected him as such, and claim the territory of the Mountain Peak Pack as my own.”

“Of course, if any of you, dare to claim an higher right, to own what is mine, please stand up now. And we will fight to the death.” I said, but no one stood up, as I expected.

“Good. Then I’d like to promote Delta Timothy, to become my Gamma and third in command.” I said and loud rejoicing howls were heard, upon him stepping up to the front.

He is the one that was doing so well, at the north packhouse and with building the new mansion. He has shown me nothing but to be a hard worker, and diligently showing empathy towards the other residents, and made sure that they had nothing short.

Timothy, couldn’t believe what just had happened, but kneeled in front of me, and bared his neck in respect.

“Thank you my Queen, I’ll never sway from your side.” He said.

“What did you just call me?”

“You have claimed the land, did you not? Then you are our Queen Alpha.” He explained himself.

Fuck, I hadn’t thought of that.
