Chapter 142 Why Are You Here?

Christian came back to sense. He rubbed his face, and the unruly hair in front of his forehead fell.

He stared at her with deep eyes and smiled.

"You prefer seeing me over others, don't you?"

"Why are you here?"

Anastasia completely forgot about Christian's saving her.

Christian furrowed his brows. "I saved you. You fell into someone's trap, don't you remember?"

How infuriating! How could she forget that he was her hero?

That would be a big loss for him.

He felt a bit aggrieved.

Anastasia furrowed her brows, unable to recall how Christian had come here.

But she was still grateful that Walter didn't succeed.

Otherwise, she wouldn't spare them, even if it meant risking her life.

As for Christian...

She was about to express her gratitude, but annoyance immediately appeared on her delicate face when she looked down at the pajamas on her body. "Who changed for me?"

Christian slowly sat up from the bed and said, "It was me."

She had hoped it was a waitress or someone else, but her hope was shattered upon hearing his answer.

She wanted to question him about his lack of boundaries.

But he calmly continued, "We are husband and wife. There is nowhere on your body that I haven't seen. Do you expect a stranger to help you change clothes?"

He curved his lips slightly. "And you were clinging onto me, calling me 'honey,' and trying to do something to me. It was me who restrained myself and only gave you a cold shower. If you really want me to fulfill your desires, I'm not against it."

He spread his arms, maintaining a somewhat indifferent posture, and smiled at her.

In the past, when they were not divorced, Anastasia used to be affectionate and liked to act coquettishly.

Christian hadn't forgotten about this.

Listening to his shameless words, Anastasia blushed with embarrassment. She jumped off the bed and kept her distance from him.

"You're daydreaming. Let me tell you, pretend it never happened, and don't mention it again."

If news got out that divorced couples stayed in a room for one night, no one would believe they were innocent!

She didn't want to have any involvement with him anymore!

Christian's eyes darkened slightly. He got up as if nothing had happened, tidied his clothes, and slowly said, "Whether you believe it or not, I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I will protect you, and no one can bully you, not even me."

He always followed through on what he said.

Anastasia was taken back for a moment, feeling a sharp pain in her heart, but it quickly disappeared.

She didn't want to take his words too seriously.

Wasn't he the one who hurt her the most?

And now they were divorced. Talking about these things seemed unnecessary and ridiculous.

Someone knocked on the door.

Christian went to open it.

Assistant Steve handed over some clothes and said, "These are clothes for you and Ms. Grave. And Mr. Patterson, everything downstairs is ready. Shall I open the door?"

Christian absentmindedly responded with a "Hmm."

Understanding Steve's cue, he left and closed the door.

Christian handed over the women's clothing and said, "For you."

Anastasia didn't want to accept his kindness, so now she had no other choice.

Since she didn't want anyone to know, she couldn't ask for help from others.

Christian took off his pajamas to change clothes.

Anastasia caught a glimpse of it and couldn't help but roll her eyes. He didn't treat her as an outsider!

She took the clothes and went to the bathroom, listening to Christian's faint laughter from behind. "We're already this familiar. Why are you still shy?"

Anastasia was speechless. Did he have a problem with understanding?
