Madam, Your Ex-Husband Is On Call -
Chapter 150
Chapter 150 Drowning His Sorrows in Alcohol
However, sitting in the dimly lit booth, Christian didn't spare a glance at the lady beside him. His demeanor was gloomy and cold, drowning his sorrows in drink.
It was like a hook pulling out the most profound longing within him when he heard her voice in the afternoon.
Unable to hold back any longer, a surge of emotions threatened to overwhelm him entirely.
Yet, she had only mentioned Beatrice's mistreatment of Charlie.
She even pitied Charlie, but couldn't she pity him too?
He longed for her, to have her back by his side.
He would indeed treat her well.
But why didn't she believe him anymore?
He downed a shot of strong liquor, its taste barely registering.
Someone nearby attempted to intervene.
"What's wrong with Christian? Drowning his sorrows in alcohol?"
"Take it slow. What's the point of drinking alone? Anastasia, hurry and pour Mr. Patterson a drink!"
Someone instructed the female model next to Christian.
She had an ample figure and had been waiting for a chance earlier.
Hearing the command, she immediately half-knelt and poured a glass of liquor for Christian.
Then, her eyes shimmered with a watery gleam. She spoke softly, offering her bashful and hesitant hands.
Christian squinted his eyes and fixed on her face as if in a trance.
Did he see Anastasia?
Anastasia?
Was it her?
Christian's slightly drunk demeanor took on a touch of severity. He reached out and grasped the woman's wrist, his tone heavy. "Is it you, Anastasia?"
The woman excitedly lifted her face.
She spoke in a sweet and smooth tone, like a rich elixir, "Mr. Patterson, it's me. How about trying this drink I poured for you?"
As her words fell, Christian abruptly pushed her away.
The woman uttered a shocked cry, falling to the ground. The drink in her glass spilled onto her.
Christian leaned back against the booth, a look of disgust on his face.
He pressed his fist to his forehead, his expression downcast. He spoke in a low, hoarse, and severe tone, "It's not her. She wouldn't talk to me so gently anymore. Get lost..."
The crowd was taken aback.
Upon hearing the commotion, Tobias hurried over from his seat.
He waved his hand, signaling the woman to leave the private room.
The woman felt somewhat resentful but didn't dare to resist.
Tobias sat nearby.
"Bro, are you intentionally trying to get drunk?"
Christian sat there impassively, continuing to pour himself a drink.
Tobias held onto his glass.
"You've had enough. Don't drink anymore."
Christian brushed his hand away, lost in his thoughts.
Another person couldn't bear it and asked, "Is Mr. Patterson heartbroken?"
"He didn't react like this even when dealing with the most challenging projects. Who is the woman? Is it Ms. Cohen, his hidden lover?"
Tobias suddenly shot a glance at the person who made such a statement.
"Of course not. It's Anastasia. It's Anastasia!"
"Anastasia? But Mr. Patterson didn't seem to like his ex-wife.
"She wasted no time visiting foreign lands after getting married, making only occasional visits back home and often staying at hotel accommodations. Who would have known she was Mrs. Patterson if it weren't for the big news of their divorcement?"
"Exactly, Mr. Patterson never mentioned her before. What's changed now?"
Tobias sighed in exasperation. He pulled out his phone, found Anastasia's number, and dialed.
After a long pause, someone finally picked up.
To ensure Christian could hear clearly, Tobias quickly turned on the speaker and spoke with an urgent and enthusiastic tone, "Anastasia, Christian has had too much to drink. Do you know how people speak the truth when they're drunk? He's been calling your name, apologizing, saying he misses, loves, and likes you. Can you come over and take him away? It's not convenient for me to look after him!"
Everyone watched in shock as this scene unfolded, not even realizing when the music had stopped.
Christian's eyes had opened at some point, becoming somewhat clear yet also nervous.
His breathing had grown tense, too...
