Chapter 175 Falling Into a Trap

Jaxon returned to the country that day by private jet.

Anastasia was nearby on an errand and had just received his call.

So, the two of them went back together.

On the way back.

Jaxon pulled out a small gift box, about the size of a palm, and handed it over.

"Anastasia, this is for you."

Anastasia paused, recognizing the brand as one of the world-renowned luxury labels.

"I can't accept your gift. It's too valuable."

Jaxon smiled gently, then opened it.

"It's valuable because it's for you. It's just a bracelet, nothing more. Aren't we good friends? You make it seem like we're strangers."

At this point, Anastasia seemed to have no reason to refuse.

The bracelet was a limited edition of the season, a precious private collection that money couldn't buy.

It was made from diamonds of various colors from different parts of the world, dazzling and lively.

She liked it when she first saw it but forgot about it shortly afterward.

Next time, she'd give Jaxon something similar in return.

She accepted it with joy.

"Thank you."

"I'd like to ask you for a favor. I need company for a banquet."

Jaxon looked at her, his eyes smiling warmly.

Anastasia was somewhat surprised by his request, but she still agreed. "Sure, no problem."

She admired the colorful bracelet, growing more fond of it.

James's birthday banquet was very grand.

Baxter and the others all received invitations from the Patterson family.

In the past, they hardly attended, mainly due to a lack of familiarity and interest.

Amanda, in particular, was most reluctant to face the Patterson family's hypocritical faces.

Anastasia wouldn't have come if she had known that Jaxon was attending James' birthday banquet.

However, when she saw James and Lamia standing at the entrance, she realized her oversight.

Her face cold and resistant, Jaxon watched her from the side and let out an apologetic cough, and said, "Anastasia, don't run away now..."

Anastasia rolled her eyes at him in annoyance and said,

"Mr. Stanford, why do I feel like I've fallen into a trap?"

At the same time, James and Lamia's felt displeased upon seeing Jaxon and Anastasia,

but in such a situation, they didn't make a scene.

James approached Jaxon with a smile, shaking hands.

"Mr. Stanford, welcome..."

Jaxon nodded slightly.

"Happy birthday, Mr. James Patterson."

Standing nearby, looking at Anastasia holding Jaxon's arm, Lamia was somewhat irritated.

"How did you come here? Don't you know your place? Your presence here lowers the standards and value of this banquet. You truly have no self-awareness."

Jaxon's brows furrowed, his eyes staring coldly at Lamia, and he said,

"Mrs. Patterson, are you dissatisfied with my companion or with me?

"If you have a problem with us, better not to send an invitation at all. I don't want to be needlessly humiliated."

Jaxon's voice was cold and forceful, his demeanor of nobility and aloofness becoming instantly dominant. Lamia's face turned pale. "I..."

She didn't expect Jaxon's reaction to be so intense and overlooked that she shouldn't be so impulsive.

James, however, looked at Lamia reproachfully, his face cold.

"What nonsense! Patterson group has always considered Mr. Stanford a valued future partner, and Anastasia is not an outsider. Apologize to her!"

Making Lamia apologize to Anastasia was like a fate worse than death for her!

Anastasia said nothing, standing there with a smile, looking at Lamia's difficulty and resentment mockingly.

As they were at an impasse,

Emma, wearing a lively and playful pink dress, ran over, smiling brightly,

"Jaxon, you're here, and Anastasia?"
