Carter roared out furiously and hung up.

Shirley did not know why he was so angry, nor did she know who the person on the other end of the phone was. She only knew that Carter did not bring her to F Country to avoid being pursued. He must have other reasons.

Carter ended the call and threw the phone onto the sofa.

He furrowed his eyebrows; his face looked extremely distressed.

A while later, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath. After spacing out for a few seconds, he recomposed himself and walked toward the balcony.

Shirley looked away and did not look at Carter again.

Carter understood Shirley's current attitude towards him. He had gradually adapted to it. He did not feel very disappointed or sad because he could feel that in Shirley's heart, he was still very much present.

"I'm going out now to buy some daily necessities. You just stay here, don't go anywhere," Carter informed and urged at the same time. Shirley laughed sarcastically. "I'm a disabled person whose lower body is paralyzed. Do you think I can still go out and travel the world?" Carter could not help but furrow his brows when he heard that.

He also knew that Shirley was purposely talking back at him. He did not care too, so instead, he walked over to carry Shirley.

Shirley had stopped resisting a long time ago, and instead, she was like a lifeless puppet as she allowed Carter to maneuver her around. Carter carried Shirley to the bed and placed the blanket on her softly.

"I'll be back soon."

He promised before turning around to leave.

Shirley looked in the direction of the door, and she did not come back to her senses after a long time.

She believed that Carter had not merely gone out to buy daily necessities. There must be something else.

It was afternoon again. The sun was shining brightly on this pleasant day.

It was rare for F Country to have such nice weather during winter.

Fabian helped Lillian put on some warm clothes before carrying her outside.

In City Park.

Although it was not a weekend, there were still a lot of people.

Fabian carried Lillian to the path that was covered in cobblestone before placing her down gently.

"Lily, let's start," Fabian said, smiling gently.

Lillian lifted her pure and adorable little face and grinned at Fabian.

The adult and child then started walking on the path with less than one meter between them.

Lillian was also used to this. Recently, Fabian has been taking her out for some fresh air and sun every afternoon.

Even though it would only last for half an hour, it was already more than enough for Lillian.

Fabian would accompany her for a walk, and after the walk, he would take her nearby for some simple shopping and buy her gifts and snacks.

She was accustomed to this daily routine, and she liked it.

From a distance, Carter wore a black suit and sunglasses as he stood quietly in the dark, quietly observing the heart-warming scene on the cobblestone path.

Carter could not help but burst out laughing when he saw how Fabian was taking care of Lillian.

"Fabian, when I told you those things, I wanted to arouse the hatred in your heart to deal with Jeremy, instead of letting you take care of your enemy's daughter so meticulously as you are now." Carter smiled irreverently. His tone sounded extremely ironic.

"Since you won't do it, I'll do it myself."
