Madeline Crawford and Jeremy Whitman -
Chapter 2025
Carter's action was devoid of tenderness. He even looked a little brutal.
After Lillian was pushed away, she looked at Carter with a look of loss on her face.
Carter's gaze darkened. "What are you looking at, huh? You can't speak, so do your ears also not work? I said there's none for you, don't you understand?" "Carter." Shirley could not stand Carter's attitude. " Carter, are you sick in the head? You're a grown man and you're bullying a little girl?"
Carter scoffed nonchalantly when he heard Shirley scolding him.
"It's her fault that she's Jeremy and Eveline's child. You can't blame me for that."
After saying that disdainfully, he turned around and pushed Shirley's wheelchair to the dining room.
Lillian sat on the sofa alone and silently stared at Carter and Shirley's back.
She lifted her hand to touch her flat stomach. 'Yeah, I'm a little hungry.
'Usually, Fabian will eat dinner with me at this time. 'But now, I can only go hungry.'
Lillian blinked her clear, big eyes and thought to herself.
'Who is this man?
'Why did he bring me here?
'It seems like he hates my mommy and daddy.' There were a lot of questions in Lillian's little brain. Dispirited, she lowered her eyelids. 'Mommy, Daddy.
'I miss Mommy, Daddy, and Jack.'
Shirley did not have the appetite to eat now. She looked at Carter who was eating mechanically, and then she tidied her cutleries and took some spaghetti and meatballs before turning her wheelchair away. "What are you doing?" Carter called out to her. "I told you she's not allowed to eat."
Shirley stopped her wheelchair and did not turn around to look at Carter.
"I'm already obeying you, but you still insist on hurting this little girl."
"Hurting? What kind of hurt is this? Will she die without one or two meals?"
"She won't, but what's the difference between this and abuse?"
Shirley, no longer in the mood to argue with Carter, moved her wheelchair to the living room.
When Lillian heard the noise, she lifted her little head and saw Shirley coming over to her.
'It seems that this woman doesn't know how to walk, so she's always sitting in this special chair.
'She also has a scar on her face, but it's not scary because her smile is warm and friendly.'
"Lily, have some dinner."
Shirley smiled and handed her the plate and fork.
Lillian looked at the plate of spaghetti and meatballs. She did not know whether she should take it or not.
"Go on, don't be scared. I won't hurt you."
Shirley comforted Lillian's little soul and emotions.
When she saw Lillian hesitating to reach out, Shirley placed the plate and fork on the coffee table.
"Lily, you'll stay with me in the next few days. You might not be used to this, but don't worry, I will take care of you. If you don't feel well, you tell me by writing on a piece of paper."
As she said that, Shirley took out a piece of paper and a pen from the drawer of the coffee table and handed them to Lillian.
Lillian reached out for the paper and pen before lowering her head to start writing.
