Madeline Crawford and Jeremy Whitman -
Chapter 2034
He was such a smart man, and so meticulous, so how would he expose himself so negligently.
Of course, Carter knew what Shirley was thinking and he was acting as cool as a cucumber.
After settling down, Carter closed the door and walked up to Shirley quietly.
He furrowed his brows tightly and looked at Shirley helplessly.
"You know what? Back then, you'd always side with me no matter what I do and immediately do anything I say, but now..."
"Carter, I told you I'm not the person I was before. I had been forced to create this persona just to get you to like me, but now, I just want to do what my heart tells me to."
Shirley interrupted Carter coldly and decisively, her gaze toward Carter looked disappointed and regretful.
"Carter, we can't go back now."
Carter seemed to be momentarily stunned, but then he smiled.
"I know that we can't go back and that we can't start over, but this won't change the fact that you still have me in your heart."
When Shirley heard this, she looked at Carter who had just said this with so much certainty.
He was still very confident.
Shirley did not deny it. No longer interested in talking with him any further, she turned her wheelchair to face Lillian.
Carter knew it would be pointless to continue speaking, so he took out his phone to look at the time and then lifted his head to look at Shirley.
"I'm going out for a while. Don't even think about letting that little thing go. You'll only cause her more harm if you do so."
Carter spoke and left again.
This time, he locked the door from outside again, and he also decisively cut all of the telephone wires in the room.
Looking in the direction where Carter left, Shirley chuckled helplessly. She then lifted her hand to stroke Lillian's adorable little face.
"I'm sorry, Lily. I've disappointed you, but don't you worry, since I've promised that I'll send you back to your family, I'll definitely do it. Give me more time."
Lillian could feel Shirley's kindness. She reached out her fair and tender little hand to grab Shirley's hand and smiled at Shirley.
That smile was a response to Shirley's kindness.
At the sight of that smile, Shirley's heart was filled with sweetness and envy.
She recalled that child again, that child whom she had no chance to see, that child whom she killed with her own hands.
It was nighttime, and the sky turned dark.
After searching along the road for a long time, Fabian finally gave up.
He could not keep searching for Lillian this way.
He stopped the car for a break and suddenly remembered something crucial.
"How did I forget this?"
He grabbed his phone hurriedly and called Evan. "Evan, you told me that Carter asked someone to
replace you and even met you. Why did he meet you, and what did you talk about? Can you still get him to come out?"
Fabian sounded urgent; he could not wait to get the answer.
Evan had just arrived at a bar and was about to enjoy his time when he heard Fabian's question from the other end of the phone, so he deliberately found a quiet place to answer him. "Do you want to come here and have a drink with me? I'll tell you in detail."
