Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew)
Chapter 3122 King Gawain I's Demise

"Ah!"

Iris, seeing her father's bloody death, dropped to the ground in fright, her eyes wide with horror as she looked at the vial in her hand. Poison in the pills? She wondered but quickly dismissed the idea as King Gawain I had only taken one earlier that morning, and he had been totally fine.

Then, she suddenly recalled how she would bring misfortune to everything she touched lately. She also remembered slapping Arabella and feeling an unusual sensation in her hand.

The realization filled Iris with dread. The king could not have died because of her. If that were the case, even as the second princess, she would be accused of patricide and regicide. Iris had ambitions, yes, but she never intended to kill her father, who had spoiled her since she was little.

"Matthew! Yes, it was his doing! He poisoned the pills!" she exclaimed and hurriedly emptied all the pills, touching them frantically with both hands before putting them back into the vial. Then, she rushed to the sink and scrubbed her hands furiously with water. Afraid they weren't clean enough, she then used soap to wash them repeatedly until her hands were red and sore before finally stopping.

When she looked at her father's dead body again, a seed of ambition took root and began to grow in her heart. Trembling, she grabbed the imperial edict from the cabinet, wrote a line mimicking King Gawain I's handwriting, and then stamped it with the royal seal. It declared that Princess Iris was exceptionally talented and would be the next ruler of Montiria.

After all that was done, Iris composed herself, hid the edict under King Gawain I's pillow, and then rushed out of his room, shouting, "The sun has set!"

Immediately, news of the king's death spread rapidly, and all the ministers rushed to the council hall without delay to replace Iris standing at the base of the throne, waiting for all the ministers to assemble.

Once all the ministers had gathered, Iris spoke with a voice full of sorrow and anger. "My father went to apologize with sincerity, but Matthew Larson poisoned him, leading to his death. Tell me, what should be done about this?"

Iris' grief incited anger among the ministers, who shouted in unison, "Kill Matthew Larson and avenge His Majesty!"

"Princess Iris, we found an edict under His Majesty's pillow," said a guard, presenting a scroll with great respect.

Iris was taken aback and quickly took the edict from the guard, unfolding it.

When the ministers noticed Iris' constant change in expression, they grew anxious. "Princess Iris, what does the edict say?"

Iris didn't answer directly but handed the edict to the Minister of Military Affairs. "Everyone, see for yourselves."

Shock overcame the Minister of Military Affairs after he read the edict. King Gawain I couldn't possibly have appointed Iris, a woman, as his successor, given the current state of affairs. Thus, in

other words, this edict was merely a

ploy and the death of the king...

The Minister of Military Affairs glanced up instinctively and found Iris staring at him. Her unspoken emotions made the minister shiver.

When he looked at the guards

stationed outside the door, the Minister of Military Affairs suppressed his suspicions and passed the edict to the next minister. Soon, the edict was

vel

circulated among all the ministers present. They understood that

regardless of the edict's authenticity, only if they acknowledged it as genuine that they could leave the hall alive.

"Since His Majesty appointed Princess Iris, it must be because of her talent. I believe we should quickly set the date for the princess' coronation." "We concur!"

Seeing the ministers' unanimous

support, Iris felt a heavy weight lift from her heart and issued her first edict. "Prince Gadel is suspected of conspiring with Matthew Larson to murder the king. Arrest him immediately!"
