Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew)
Chapter 3149 What’s the Plan

Matthew sat quietly in a military tent as he cultivated to restore his spiritual power. The energy here was sparse compared to the rich atmosphere of Basha's Sacred Mount. What took ten minutes to recover at the mountain required a full hour in the camp. The camp flap lifted slightly, and Gadel walked in. He was dressed in dark gold robes with a crown on his head and exuded a commanding presence. His sharp, eagle-like eyes conveyed authority.

"Matthew, we've received word that Iris has fled to the vanguard camp. If our information is accurate, the vanguard army is now under her command," he said coldly. His stern demeanor was more about his adjustment to command than directed at Matthew. "What's the plan?" Matthew asked after rousing from his cultivation.

"Kill!" Gadel replied with icy resolve and a chilling sense of purpose. He intended to instill fear and make everyone too terrified to resist. He believed this was the most effective strategy.

Matthew chuckled at Gadel's stern expression. "What's wrong? You finally feel the pressure and start to put on an act?"

A great ruler understood the importance of projecting a commanding presence. For instance, historical figures like Napoleon Bonaparte were often depicted in portraits to emphasize their authority and strength. A leader who appeared weak or indecisive risked jeopardizing the stability of their entire realm.

Gadel was once a carefree youth. But if he maintained that demeanor while ruling Montiria, his ministers would likely turn to corruption and abuse of power. He needed to instill fear and respect in those around him to solidify his control and prevent being undermined. Gadel smiled bitterly. His posture relaxed as he slumped into the chair. "I knew I couldn't fool you."

The ministers had initially shown him respect, but any sign of weakness from him would quickly erode that fear. Without that fear, they would act recklessly and pursue their own agendas.

Throughout history, ministers

abused their power when their fear of the ruler outweighed their desire

for immediate gain. As fear increased, they would reconsider before abusing their power for personal gain. If the potential reward didn't seem worth the risk they would refrain from doing it.

Gardere didn't mind if they harbored such thoughts as long as they didn't act on these intentions.

It was like standing outside a bank with a mask and a knife. If that person didn't take action, nothing would happen to him.

Gadel's goal was to ensure that the fear and respect he commanded from his ministers were at their highest.

Matthew shook his head. He understood that Gadel's transformation wasn't merely an act. He could tell the bloodshed on the battlefield had truly changed Gadel.

A prince and a king faced entirely

е

different challenges. While a prince's enemies might have been within his own country, a king's adversaries came from all corners of the globe. These opponents might not confront the king directly, but they could

impose severe economic pressures.

It was similar to how Cathay faced heavy opposition from major powers when it was just starting to make its mark. Despite the difficulties, the nation endured and grew stronger due to the tireless efforts of countless predecessors.
