Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew)
Chapter 3195 The Madness of the Gloam Wing

The lieutenant glanced at the pit full of corpses, and a wave of nausea washed over him.

"All Gloam Wing members, move out! We're going to completely wipe out the remaining Night Vine addicts."

Outside a cluster of villages, a dozen military vehicles screeched to a halt. From them emerged Gloam Wing members dressed in pitch-black combat gear, their hands gripping an assortment of firearms as they stormed into the homes. "Stop! What are you doing?" A young man holding a hoe shouted as he saw the Gloam Wing members approaching.

Alas, his answer was a gunshot, followed by a cold declaration, "Obstructing the Gloam Wing in the execution of our duties is punishable by immediate death."

It was harvest season in the village, and everyone, from the elderly to the women, was out in the fields working alongside the men. They looked at the golden, ripe wheat with satisfied smiles.

They had long grown weary of cultivating Night Vine, a crop that had turned their loved ones into something less than human, neither fully alive nor dead. Their hatred for the Night Vine had reached its peak, which was why Matthew's directive to eradicate it had been so easily embraced. "How much have you harvested, Gus?"

"Aunt Ruth, we've planted ten acres of wheat, and so far, we've only harvested two," a brawny man replied, wiping sweat from his brow with a towel draped around his neck, grinning broadly. "Ten acres? That should fetch a good price! I heard buyers will be coming soon."

Bang!

As the villagers chatted while harvesting, a gunshot suddenly rang out, echoing through the sky, causing their faces to pale with fear.

They quickly dropped their sickles and rushed back to the village, only to replace that their family members who had stayed behind were now being held at gunpoint by a group of men dressed in black. These intruders were armed with advanced weapons. Knowing they couldn't win a fight, the villagers could only shout in protest, "We haven't committed any crimes! Why are you pointing guns at us?" A Gloam Wing soldier sneered at the angry man before him, his voice dripping with mockery. "Why? Because we are the King's personal unit!"

Panic immediately spread among the villagers. Did the King send them?

"You were once Night Vine cultivators, and we suspect you're still secretly growing it."

The noisy crowd fell silent, each person hurriedly denying the accusation.

"Sir, there must be some mistake.

We're only growing crops now." The eldest of the village stepped

forward, Known to everyone as Grandpa Ephraim, he was the most respected and authoritative figure in the settlement.

The Gloam Wing squad leader looked at the old man with disdain. "If I say you're still growing it, then you are. Confiscate all the crops and take them back for testing." His words sparked an uproar among the villagers.

"Please, sir, you can't take our crops! How will we survive if you do?" An elderly man rushed forward, clinging to the squad leader's leg, pleading desperately.

The villagers watched with a mix of anger and sorrow. The old man was highly respected in the village, and now, to save their food, he was groveling at someone's feet.

The squad leader looked down at

the old man and kicked him aside with brutal force, then brushed offe his pants as if something filthy had touched him. "That old fool must have been secretly growing Night Vine. Shoot him!"

Bang!

The command was given, and a gunshot echoed, sending a spray of blood from the old man's chest.

Ephraim, witnessing the death of his kin before his very eyes, trembled violently. Staring at the Gloam Wing squad leader, his body shook uncontrollably until, finally, this elder, old enough to be the squad leader's great-grandfather, knelt before him.

"Sir, please spare us. Take whatever you want from this village. We will not resist," Ephraim pleaded, tears welling up in his eyes. All he wanted now was for the killing to stop.
