Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew) -
Chapter 3263 The Promise
Gadel's countenance shone with an exuberant smile as he approached the ministers, offering his assistance to lift them from the ground.
"You all are the stalwarts of Montiria," he said, his voice brimming with heartfelt concern as he gently patted their shoulders. "Please, rise. In the governance of our realm, we shall rely upon you the pillars of our nation-more than ever." "It is no trouble at all. Serving Your Majesty is our greatest honor," one minister responded hurriedly.
"Yes, yes, Your Majesty," another quickly added. "I must attend to some family matters, so I shall take my leave now."
The ministers, eager to escape, felt a growing dread. None of them wished to linger another moment with Gadel, whom they regarded with deep suspicion. The atmosphere in Montiria had been one of mutual respect and cordiality. Minor errors were part of the process, but now Gadel seemed poised to betray their trust.
As twilight descended, stretching long shadows over the palace grounds, Gadel's gaze swept over the guards, their hands poised threateningly on their sword hilts. "The darkness deepens, and the roads become perilous. Ensure that the ministers are escorted home safely. And remember to accompany them to court on the morrow."
"Indeed, Your Majesty! We will protect the ministers with our lives. Should any malefactors dare to attack, we shall fall before allowing any harm to befall them!" the guards vowed, dropping to one knee, their voices echoing with fervor.
The ministers, visibly shaken, felt their knees quake with fear. The sudden need for an escort raised their anxiety. Hadn't they already complied with all demands? Was Gadel concerned they might reconsider once they were out of his sight?
"Your Majesty, these men have been entrusted with your protection. They must not be dismissed," one minister implored urgently. "Moreover, I am prepared to draft a declaration in blood, petitioning for Mr. Larson's appointment as Prime Regent second only to you!"
"With the Prime Regent steadfast at your side, Montiria shall flourish for generations!" the minister declared, his voice resonating through the royal chamber as he fell to both knees, his forehead striking the marble with a thud.
The remaining ministers, stunned
into silence, gazed at their colleague's reddened and bruised
forehead. This was not part of the script they had anticipated! Their colleague had taken it upon himself to exceed all expectations, leaving them in a precarious position.
Suddenly, an intangible, oppressive gaze seemed to settle upon the remaining ministers, casting a shadow of impending judgment. Thud.
One by one, the ministers collapsed to their knees, their voices trembling as they echoed, "We... we share the same sentiment, Your Majesty."
The first minister's expression darkened his thoughts into a whirlwind of curses. "You deceitful wretches! You're merely mimicking my words!"
Gadel observed them, his once genial smile chilling into a colder expression. Seeing their overwhelming obedience, he decided to spare their families and their lives-for now.
"There is no need for such grand gestures, ministers," he said, cutting them off before they could continue. "Since you are all so resolute, I shall not refuse your request. Ensure that it is brought to court tomorrow."
QUMS
Turning to the guards, he commanded, "What are you waiting for? Escort the ministers out of the palace and return promptly."
The ministers, having held their breath, finally exhaled in relief. They allowed themselves to be carried by the guards, their steps faltering as they were escorted beyond the palace gates.
Gadel's gaze then fell upon the two
journalists huddled nervously in a corner. His voice, low and menacing, cut through the silence like a cold wind. "In your report, only include my pleasant exchange with the Elder of Catbay. Eliminate any traces of hesitation or doubt. Is that understood?"
"Yes, yes! We understand completely!" they stammered, nodding fervently.
