Man With Super Medical Skill (Matthew) -
Chapter 3288 Kainne's Tragic Fate
Montiria was ultimately someone else's domain. Although Matthew held the title of Prime Regent, Mortimer was still the one pulling the strings behind the scenes. Even if Fiorenna hadn't voiced her displeasure yet, it was only a matter of time before she did. "I'll leave everything in your capable hands, Prime Regent," Fiorenna said, weariness evident in her voice as she stood. "Privately, I'll call you Great Prince Matthew Larson. I'm feeling a bit exhausted, so I'll go rest now."
After the Flying Armor stormed the palace the night before, Fiorenna had spent the entire night on edge with her child. Adding to the stress, the morning brought the news of Gadel's disappearance and pressure from the ministers. The physical and emotional toll had left her feeling dizzy with fatigue.
As she left the pavilion, Matthew sat there rubbing his temples, his head pounding. The king was missing, Fiorenna was occupied with the newborn, and here he was, left to run the government. To the outside world, he wielded more power than Fiorenna herself. It all felt eerily like a storyline where the regent seizes power, eliminates the king, and then dominates the queen and her young son. The thought weighed on him.
Yet, regardless of his concerns, the plan had to move forward. Matthew still had to visit the homes of the surviving ministers to handle some delicate negotiations. Chief Financial Officer Kainne lay sprawled on an oversized bed at home, groaning in pain as several doctors carefully applied ointment to his wounds. "Ah...easy! Are you trying to kill me?" Kainne winced, his voice filled with agony.
"We're being as gentle as we can," one of the doctors said helplessly. "But with wounds like these, there's no avoiding some pain."
Kainne's back was a mess of torn skin and blood, and even the doctors flinched at the sight of it. One doctor's finger accidentally pressed too hard on his injury. "AHH!" Kainne's scream echoed through the room, tears of regret streaming down his face.
It was one thing to endure such a beating for rebelling, but to suffer like this when he'd just been caught up in the chaos? It hardly seemed fair. Suddenly, Kainne's wife rushed into the room. "Sir, a young man is here asking to see you."
"I don't want to see anyone! Tell him to go away!" Kainne snapped, unable to bear the thought of visitors in his condition. Even if King Gadel himself returned, he wouldn't want to be seen like this-it was humiliating.

"He said his name is Matthew Larson, and he claims to be a friend."
"Matthew..." Kainne's grumbling stopped abruptly. His eyes widened in alarm. "Is the man slim and very handsome?"
When his wife nodded, Kainne's heart sank. Why was Matthew, of all people, showing up now? Shouldn't he be at the palace dealing with Montiria's problems?
"Bring him in," Kainne muttered reluctantly. He didn't want to face Matthew, but avoiding him wasn't an option.
Soon, Matthew entered, wearing a cheerful smile and carrying a tray of fruit. He immediately took on a look of shock and concern upon seeing Kainne's condition.
"Kainne, I can't believe those brutes hit you so hard," Matthew exclaimed, grasping Kainne's hands. "If I had known, I would've never let them go that far. Your pain is my pain"
Kainne could sense Matthew's theatrics but forced a polite smile. He inwardly sighed at the absurdity.
"No, Prime Regent, this is all my fault," Kainne replied, managing a strained laugh. "I was up all night working on court documents and must've dozed off during the court session. I didn't even realize those fools were trying to force me to abdicate!"
