Marcus (Savage Kings MC – South Carolina Book Series 9) -
Marcus: Chapter 16
I slept hard after the insanely hot blowjob Teagan gave me.
But then the next morning, when I woke up with her curled up asleep beside me in bed, I was suddenly wide awake remembering what I promised her in the heat of the moment last night in my living room.
I agreed to make her a prospect so that she would finish me off. I was too far gone and thought I would die if she didn’t keep going.
Now, I feel like a fucking idiot, because she knew I would give her anything she asked in that moment.
Even under those circumstances, I sure as hell can’t take it back, not without her walking out the door. Remembering the shitty way it felt yesterday when I thought she had left, well, I’m not ready for her to take off just yet.
Even though it’s obvious that she’s only using sex to get what she wants from me, she’s so damn good at it that I don’t even care right now.
Besides, it’s not like I’m actually going to vote her in as a prospect for the club.
Still, I need to make her think that I am. That’s what’s important.
So, after I get up and have a quick shower, I head for the door.
With my hand on the doorknob, about to leave her sleeping in my bed for what I’m guessing will take hours, I have an idea to make sure she’s here when I get back.
Slipping quietly back into the bedroom, I replace her leather pants. I stuff my hand into the pocket and wrap the keys tightly in my fist to keep them from making a sound as I pull them free, watching her sleep the entire time.
It’s a fucked-up thing to do, taking away her only means of transportation, but it feels necessary, for some insane reason.
Since I’ll be missing a few meals, I do pull out all of the cash from my wallet and toss it on the kitchen counter so she can order takeout if she gets hungry.
Then, I’m out the door, riding my bike to the clubhouse as the sun rises in the sky.
It’s so early that I was sure I would be the first and only person at the clubhouse.
But when I see another bike in the parking lot, and lights on inside, I realize I was wrong.
Leo is already here.
I almost decide to turn around and come back later when no one is around. But then I figure I may need his help, so I park and go inside.
The door barely closes behind me when I hear the sound of a gun being cocked nearby.
Fuck.
Guess our bartender is just as surprised to see me so early this morning.
“It’s me, Leo. Jesus, calm down,” I tell him with both of my arms raised in the air, palms out.
“Marcus? What the fuck are you doing here?” Leo asks as his hat-covered head finally pops up from behind the bar. He, thankfully, puts his gun away instead of shooting me.
Then, I remember why he’s so trigger happy. Having a run-in with the asshole who came in here and tortured him for hours is a good reason to be wary.
“Sorry, I shouldn’t have snuck in on you,” I tell him.
“No, you shouldn’t have!” he exclaims. “You’re lucky I didn’t blast a hole through you.”
“Yeah, I know. That’s why I apologized,” I huff.
“Why are you here so early?” Leo asks.
“I, ah, I need a prospect cut. Do you know where we keep them?”
“You need a prospect cut before the sun comes up?” he asks with a skeptically raised eyebrow.
“Yeah, I do.”
“Fine,” he huffs. “Come on. They’re in some containers in the back.”
“Thanks,” I say as I follow behind him to the storage room.
Leo flips on the florescent light and then walks to the back corner. There are several waterproof containers on a rack in a row, each with a different size written in black marker on the outside.
“Ah, let me get a small,” I tell him.
“You’ve already picked a prospect for us to vote on?” he asks as he pulls the container down and pops the lid, letting loose the rich scent of leather.
“No, just getting it ready.”
He picks up one of the leather cuts from the container and holds it up in front of his face. Yeah, it looks like it could fit a child, but it’ll look great on Teagan, especially when she’s wearing it and nothing else.
“Damn, that’s little,” Leo says when he hands it to me. “You got a bunch of midgets trying to prospect or something? Wait, how do you know the size if you haven’t picked one of them yet?”
“This one will be fine,” I tell him.
“Are you sure? That’s tiny. Do you want to grab a medium just in case?”
I toss the cut over my arm and huff, “You sure do ask a lot of fucking questions, you know that?”
“And you’re not telling the entire truth, are you?” he counters.
“Don’t worry about it,” I reply, so he sighs and puts the container back on the rack. “Now, where do we keep the patches?”
“You’ll have to talk to Roman about patches. They’re in his office.”
“Can’t we just go…”
“No,” Leo interrupts. “He keeps them locked in a cabinet and only he has the key. Those patches are sacred, don’t want them ending up in the wrong hands – having fuckers pretend to be one of us.”
“Damn,” I mutter. “When do you think he’ll be in?”
Leo shrugs and starts to the door. “No clue. Usually, he’s here by nine or ten but sometimes it’s around noon.”
“Guess I’ll wait for him.”
“He’s going to ask you the same fucking questions. Hope you have better answers for our president,” the asshole chuckles.
“So, you’ve picked a prospect for us to vote on?” Roman asks, just as expected, when he comes in and I follow him into his office a few hours later.
“Not yet. I’m just trying to be ready. Any harm in that?” I ask.
“No, I guess not,” he says. Pulling out his keys from his pocket, he inserts one into the cabinet lock, turns it, then opens the bottom drawer.
Down there are rows of files with labels – President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and so on.
“Just one prospect?” he questions me.
“Uh-huh.”
“Okay, so you’ll need the basic Savage Kings MC and Myrtle Beach ones for the front of the cut,” he says as he reaches into those folders to pull one of each of the small white rectangular patches out and places them on his desk. Those will go on either side of the chest.
“And then finally, the big prospect rocker patch for the back.”
The last patch is so big, at least twelve inches long, so it’ll take up the entire bottom of the cut from one side to the other.
Gathering up all three, he hands them to me. “There you go.”
“Thanks,” I tell him with a sigh of relief that our president didn’t ask me any further questions that would require me to lie to him.
“No problem. Can’t wait to meet him,” Roman says with a grin. “Will you make introductions before Thursday’s meeting so we can take a vote?”
“Ah, maybe. We’ll see.”
“Yeah, whatever you think. It’s your decision. We still have some time before we patch in Lucas and Jake.”
