Married to the Boss: A Love in Disguise Chapter 84
Adam furrowed his brows with impatience and quickly typed: [I can see Maria, but I don't want to see you.]
Adam's words were imbued with a strong sense of disgust towards Lumma, who couldn't understand why he loathed her and had no interest in replaceing out.
As long as Adam could come, Lumma thought it would be alright to let Maria receive proper medical care without any worries. Lumma replied: [Let's set a time. When you come, I'll avoid being present.] Adam responded: [Tomorrow afternoon.]
Lumma: [Maria is in room 1003 of the third building of the inpatient department at Red Pine Hospital. Please do not mention our plans for divorce when you see her. Thank you very much!]
After sending the message, Lumma waited for a while but received no reply. She silently put her phone away and told Maria, "Grandma, Lucas agreed. He'll come to see you tomorrow afternoon." "Great..." Maria was so happy that she couldn't stop smiling, but then she became a bit nervous. "Lumma, should I tidy up? It's the first time I'll be meeting my son-in-law, so I should leave a good impression." Lumma chuckled. "Grandma, he's your son-in-law, not some high-ranking official."
"In my heart, he's even more important than a high-ranking official," Maria said.
The more Maria valued her son-in-law, the more pressure Lumma felt, and she didn't know if Lucas would accidentally spill the beans when he met Maria tomorrow.
Whenever she thought about this, she felt like there was a stone pressing on her heart, making it difficult to breathe.
Seeing that it was getting late, Maria said again, "Lumma, you have to go to work tomorrow. Go back and rest early. Don't let personal matters affect your work."
"Okay." Lumma had been by Maria's side in the hospital in Soothy City for more than ten days without getting any good sleep. If she kept going like this, her body wouldn't be able to handle it. Plus, she had to go to work tomorrow, so she really needed to go
back and rest.
Lumma gave some instructions to the nurse before leaving the hospital.
Unexpectedly, she ran into Arty at the hospital entrance.
Arty greeted her. "Ms. Louis, I thought you were lying to me earlier, but it turns out your grandma is really sick and in the hospital."
No one would joke about their grandmother's health, and Lumma didn't feel like entertaining him. "Mr. Bloom, is there something you need?"
Arty said, "I'm here on behalf of your husband to check on Maria. If you need any help, please let me know, and I'll do my best to assist you."
Adam called Arty, asking him to notify the hospital to arrange the best doctors and spare no expense to cure Maria's illness, but he did not ask him to come to the hospital.
Arty personally came to handle this matter. One reason was to probe the truth, and the other was that, in his eyes, Lumma was currently like a little child that needed to be appeased and coddled.
Otherwise, if Lumma became unhappy or did not agree to the divorce, Arty's reputation as the top lawyer in Red Pine City would surely be ruined by Adam.
Lumma said, "I just need you to remind Mr. Bergman to come to the hospital tomorrow afternoon to see my daughter, Maria. Also, remind him not to let anything slip."
"Rest assured. If he agrees, he will definitely keep his word," Arty replied.
"Then please thank him for me!" Lumma said before turning to leave, only to be blocked by Arty. "What do you want?" she asked.
"I'm just curious. You once had a high-quality husband like Lucas, so why are you interested in other men?" Arty asked.
"I just like trash, okay?" Lumma replied unkindly before turning and leaving.
She took a taxi back home, intending to get a good night's sleep and have a productive day at work tomorrow.
However, the more she thought about sleeping early, the more awake her mind became She finally fell asleep after midnight.
As expected, due to her late night, she woke up feeling tired. To make herself look more awake, Lumma put on a bit more makeup than usual.
She arrived at the office on time, preparing hand-ground coffee in advance. As soon as Adam arrived, she served him the coffee and reported his schedule for the day. Just as she was about to leave, Adam, who was reviewing some documents, called her back "Our afternoon plans have been postponed," he said.
