There was never earthquakes where she was from. There wasn’t enough Ratna people near them, her father would say. They lived farther south, where they used their abilities to create intricate cave systems. However, sometimes their cave systems would not be enough and they would need to move more- that was what caused earthquakes.

So, she did the next best thing and asked what they felt like.

The whole world feels like its shaking. The sky, the trees, the ground beneath you. You can’t keep steady feet, it feels like your center of balance has suddenly gone away and you were a new born foal with shaky legs. Except, it was everything.

So, this is what an earthquake felt like.

She quickly scooped up Pup and her dragon, hoisting them on her hips and preparing to throw her body the opposite direction of wherever Venrir was aiming- only, he was aiming at them. She was all to aware of his amazing mobility.

Was their time together a lie? She thought he liked her? Athelstan even answered so much for her-

No time, run. She ran, one dragon under each arm, only hoping that Elric would keep up.

Grass under foot, she forced each of her muscles to work. Elric was behind her, she could sense him despite the thundering of the earth.

Venrir turned, and suddenly, Elric wasn’t behind her anymore.

No.

No.

She dropped the dragons, “Stay!” She commanded, then swiveled on her heel. Elric was hooked on one of Venrir’s long talons, face to face with the massive dragon. Pure panic filled her. Then, suddenly, she was sick. It felt as if the wind was knocked out of her, and her head was beaten mercilessly with a rock. Her whole body ached, as if she was covered head to toe in sprains. Then, one second passed, two seconds, and it was gone.

She blinked, watching as Venrir lowered Elric to the ground.

Thank god. She blinked, aware of Athelstan suddenly beside Venrir. When did he get there..? He was on the other side of the field a moment ago.

Ah, right, magic?

Venrir shrunk in size, once again becoming human, and she knew everything was okay.

But… How?

The three men looked over to her. Athelstan looked a bit pale, while Venrir was as rigid as a statue. Elric, well, he looked as he always did, calm, and a tad bit sleepy.

What happened? What did Elric say to defuse? While she was compilating on the issue, the three walked over to her. Elric had not changed, yet Athelstan and Venrir were on edge.

Both Dragons sat on her feet, as if standing guard.

Pup brought his head to her right hand, and suddenly, her whole body was on fire. Her knees buckled under her, and her vision blurred. The last thing she seen was her dragon pawing at her face, and the three boys hovering above her. Her vision dotted, before going black.
