Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) -
Chapter 1004
The guy from Beaconsfield Casino was known as King, and nobody had ever managed to figure out his background.
There was a rumor floating around that if he were indeed some bigwig in a Saudi oil company, the wealth at his fingertips would be immeasurable.
People who dealt with diamonds and oil were among the richest on the planet. Their wealth was beyond the imagination of ordinary folks. Brielle felt a sudden rush of curiosity.
"But I heard his face was deformed from birth, so he's always wearing a mask. There isn't a single photo of him in all of Saudi Arabia."
"If the Lynch and Dorsey families cross paths here, will anyone bring up their century-old feud? The newspapers had a field day back then, but after all these years and so many changes, I doubt anyone really cares anymore." "Someone once accidentally saw his face, and they were scared to death."
"How ugly could he be?"
The mask and the name King made everything click for Brielle, confirming that this was indeed the King she had met at Beaconsfield.
But what was his game? Why did he keep showing up around her?
Her thoughts were interrupted by a commotion outside. Someone was being welcomed in.
Brielle's eyes narrowed, her lips pressed tightly together.
The man walking in with King was someone she recognized: the CEO of Hartley Group, whom she had hit it off with at an auction dinner abroad when she attended with Max.
King stood beside him, instantly drawing a lot of attention.
Brielle had found it odd that her brother had insisted on coming here tonight.
Even though Oscar's dinner was indeed packed with high-profile figures, it was unusual for Dustin to attend personally.
Now, with Flynn, the head of Hartley Group, showing up, it was clear this evening was meant for the crème de la crème.
Brielle stayed quiet, but King spotted her and raised his glass in a silent toast.
Flynn noticed her too. Their chat at the auction dinner had left a strong impression on him, especially since her exotic looks were truly captivating. Hearing she was the long-lost daughter of the Lynch family, he approached her. "Ms. Brielle, fancy seeing you here again."
Brielle smiled politely and shook his hand, "I never thought our next meeting would be under such circumstances."
Flynn, as charming as ever with his blonde hair gleaming, congratulated her.
He withdrew his hand, and King, standing beside him, naturally extended his own towards Brielle.
Brielle didn't take it. The last time
she saw King was at the Premier Palace, but she wasn't sure if it had been a hallucination or reality, so she wasn't sure if King had survived that explosion. en Narugi
Now, seeing him alive and well, did that mean there was a chance Max had survived too?
Brielle clenched her glass, her cheeks flushing with excitement.
Flynn, oblivious to the tension
between them, was called away by other associates, hinting at a good rapport between him and King.
Brielle and King stood there, drawing more and more attention.
Many had come tonight hoping to partner with this mysterious oil tycoon from Saudi Arabia.
She had learned from her brother about the fire's cause- orchestrated by the Dorsey family.
And if King's surname was indeed Howe, did that mean he had orchestrated the fire, aiming to kill her and Max? Brielle's expression turned cold, her lips tight.
"I never expected you to be alive."
Her tone was indifferent, reverting to her usual composed self after a moment.
"Yes, but Max is gone," King said, taking a glass of red wine from a passing tray and sniffing it lightly.
"Seeing me alive, do you secretly hope Max might have survived too?"
Brielle's heart skipped a beat. She could stay calm about everything else but the mere mention of Max exposed her deep pain.
King might have expected her sorrow to bring him some twisted satisfaction, but it didn't.
Her grief was for Max, and her eyes reddened at the mere mention of his name.
