Isaac stood up and started walking away, his small figure slowly vanishing into the distance.

Brielle, feeling a surge of worry, quickly moved to follow him. After losing sight of him yesterday, she was determined to replace out who this kid's parents were today. But just as she was about to set off, the driver and bodyguard jumped out of the car.

"Ms. Brielle, you really should head back. We can't risk anything happening to you," they insisted.

Not wanting to cause trouble, Brielle waved them off. "Don't worry, I'll be back soon. If my brother asks, just tell him I saw that kid I mentioned yesterday."

She had asked Dustin to look into it, knowing he'd understand her concern for the child. That way, these guys wouldn't get in trouble.

Despite their unease, they wanted to follow her. But Brielle, worried they might scare Isaac, firmly asked them to stay put.

She then quickly caught up with Isaac, who was walking with his eyes fixed on the ground, as if tracking something.

Trying to break the ice, she approached him gently. "What are you looking for? Maybe I can help."

The child turned and gave her a quick glance. Then, standing up straight, he rummaged through his pockets and pulled out a card, holding it out to her. Brielle was taken aback. What was he trying to do?

Moreover, the card he presented was a top-tier, unlimited credit card-not something a kid should be carrying around, let alone flashing in front of strangers. If Brielle had bad intentions, she'd see him as a walking goldmine. "Employment, daddy said, for services rendered."

Brielle's heart melted. "I don't need a reward. Let's go replace it together. What did you lose?"

"My friend," Isaac said, pocketing the card and pointing ahead. "Friend, over there."

Yesterday, he had only spoken a few words, and she hadn't noticed anything odd. But after talking with him a bit more, she realized he might have slight communication issues. However, his eyes were bright and sharp. Brielle was instantly smitten, especially since his face reminded her so much of Max's. She couldn't help but be extra gentle with him.

If only he was Max's child, she wouldn't mind any possible deceit. Max had left nothing behind; the fire had wiped out every trace of him.

As they walked, Brielle asked softly, "How old is your friend?"

"The same age as me."

"Is it a boy or a girl?"

"Like me."

Brielle chuckled, picturing another boy around four or five, maybe a little buddy from the neighborhood.

They strolled for a while, with Isaac stopping occasionally to check the ground for footprints.

Reaching a park, Brielle saw him take a seat, likely tired from the walk.

She approached and offered, "Want me to carry you? It'll be faster."

"Daddy said no," he replied.

Respecting his wishes, Brielle backed off, noting how obedient he was to his father.

After a short rest, they continued walking, eventually arriving at a quieter park on the outskirts. Most people were probably at home, watching the big red carpet event on TV

"Friend, close," Isaac said in his sweet, earnest voice. "Alright, where should I look?"

"Alley, around the corner. Thank you, sister."

His words, though few, seemed to take effort.

Brielle quickly headed into the alley. "Is this the place?"

She barely finished her sentence when she froze. The alley did have something-but it wasn't a person. A sleek, powerful panther crouched in the shadows.

Under the dim light, its black form looked menacing, a creature capable of taking down several grown men in a heartbeat.

Brielle instinctively moved closer to

Isaac, her eyes fixed on the panther.

Had it escaped from a zoo? Or

wandered down from the nearby hills? Either way, it was dangerous.

"Kid, you need to get out of here."

Isaac, feeling the warmth of her protective stance, watched her back.

Then, in a heartbeat, the panther advanced and pounced.

Summoning courage she didn't know she had, Brielle pushed Isaac behind her and faced the beast head-on. The panther knocked her to the ground, its powerful paws pinning her shoulders as it let out a low growl.
