Victoria was always the most selfish one in the Dorsey family. Sure, Michael was sneaky and underhanded, but at least he kept the family afloat back in the day. And when it came to his only daughter, he pretty much spoiled her rotten. Even though Michael didn't think much of girls, he let Victoria have a lot of freedom. That's probably why, once she set her sights on Everett, she chased him everywhere, leading to that mess later on.

Victoria was sprawled on the couch when she heard the front door creak open. Her eyes flicked around, and she jumped up, shoving all her dirty clothes under the couch.

The maids had quit a week ago because they couldn't handle her constant nitpicking.

It had to be Everett coming back. She was sure he still had feelings for her. I mean, even a cat or dog gets attached after so many years, right? So, how could he not?

Everett, looking sharp in his suit, stood at the entrance. Compared to Victoria's worn-out look, he seemed like a brand-new man. He walked in with a certain energy, heading straight upstairs.

He was here to pack. He'd been paying investigators to track down his first love and their child, but the Dorseys had always blocked him. Now that the family had fallen, he had found out his child was alive and doing well. A son, and a successful one at that. But his first love had died young, a regret he would carry forever. Still, he was determined to meet his son.

"Everett, you came back to see me!" Victoria exclaimed, rushing to hug him.

Everett had always tolerated her before, like dealing with something unpleasant but unavoidable. This time, he shoved her away without hesitation.

The disgust in his eyes was unmistakable, like he wanted to burn a hole through her with his stare.

"Victoria, after all these years, I finally get to say what I've always wanted to."

He chuckled, pulling out a suitcase and starting to pack. Victoria watched him obsessively. "What do you want to say?" she asked, a mix of curiosity and desperation in her voice.

Everett didn't have much, but among his things were a few gifts from his first love, locked away for years by the Dorsey patriarch to control him. The humiliation of being blackmailed had always infuria him.

He grabbed a chair and smashed the suitcase open, revealing tokens of love and letters from his first love, filled with affection.

He gently placed the letters and a handmade puppy toy into his suitcase. Seeing this, Victoria lost it and lunged at him.

Everett grabbed her by the hair and dragged her out, ignoring her struggles.

"What I want to say is, sleeping with you was utterly disgusting. Get lost!"

Victoria felt like her scalp was being torn off, and then the door slammed shut on her. She pounded on the door, sobbing, but Everett was too absorbed in the letters, his hands trembling. He was finally free from the Dorsey family!

Liberated at last!

Everett closed his suitcase and

opened the door to replace Victoria still

there, crying her eyes out. She

looked pitiful, but Everett felt no pity. Beneath her frail exterior was a heart of pure malice and selfishness.

He grabbed his suitcase and marched downstairs. Victoria, still sobbing, grabbed his arm.

"Everett, please stay. You're all I have now."

Everett shoved her away, his face twisted with contempt.

"For years, being part of your family, I had to report even the smallest friendships. I couldn't even visit my parents, who probably think I'm dead. Victoria, your family's downfall is well deserved. Every year, I prayed for your misery to deepen. And this month, my prayers were answered: Ryan exiled, William and Antonio dead, Michael insane, and Brodie fled. The Dorsey family, without any backbone, is left with you, whose mind is only filled with thoughts of men. What can you do? Look outside and see how the world talks about your family."

Everett's words were filled with years of pent-up hatred. He took a deep breath, a smile forming on his lips, and then, unexpectedly, he cried.
