Kenzo knew the area like the back of his hand, almost as if he had anticipated tonight's events all along. Letting go of Brielle, he vaulted over the wall in mere seconds, but not before leaning in close to whisper something in her ear. "What if Max just sees you as a stand-in? Maybe, just maybe, you could consider me instead?"

Brielle stood there, staring at the now empty wall, speechless.

How am I supposed to respond to that, Kenzo? You're thanking me for that caramel apple I gave you back then, but I've regretted giving it to you ever since.

That night, she hadn't gotten to enjoy her once-a-year treat. She had questioned herself over and over again why she'd give something so precious to a stranger.

Her heart ached, feeling both lost and wronged over that caramel apple. Little Brielle wasn't as tough back then.

Kenzo had already disappeared.

Brielle turned to Dustin.

Dustin approached, gently tapping her on the head. "Did you plant it?"

A tracker.

They had planned it all. Capturing Kenzo wouldn't be easy. For someone who had managed to evade Dustin for so long, choosing this meeting spot meant catching him alive was nearly impossible.

So, Dustin suggested his team move in early, letting Kenzo take Brielle as a hostage.

"Little Falcon, I won't let anything happen to you. Trust me," he had reassured her.

Dustin wanted Kenzo alive, but if Kenzo tried to harm Brielle, he wouldn't hesitate to take him out.

Everything unfolded as planned. Brielle, taken hostage, got close enough to Kenzo and slipped the newly developed tracker, which was also capable of eavesdropping and as thin as a piece of paper, into his pocket. Once placed, it clung to the fabric, undetectable even if someone reached into the pocket.

Back in the car, Brielle and Dustin pulled out a laptop and instinctively put on headphones. Silence filled the air at first.

Dustin's driver had already headed back to the mansion.

An hour later, another man's voice came through.

"Where have you been?"

It was the Professor's voice. Brielle wasn't surprised.

Kenzo didn't respond and headed upstairs.

"Went to see Brielle, did you?"

Kenzo froze mid-step, turning to face him.

The Professor, calm and composed, placed his coffee cup back on the table.

"The look in your eyes when you see her... it's different from when you see others."

Kenzo approached with a cold laugh. "Annie's gone, Murray's gone, I'm probably next, then you. They've never cared about us. I'm just making the most of my time with the person I like. Is there a problem?"

QUMS

Hearing this, the Professor sighed, his expression darkening.

"Who allowed you to talk like that?"

Kenzo stayed silent, turning to leave.

"Kenzo, don't let me hear such talk again. Everything we do has

meaning, and our contributions are recognized. Just like your grandfather, we are heroes. As

your life, as long as you don't walk into Dustin's trap and take your medication on time, who would want you dead?"

Silence followed, only the faint sound of footsteps going upstairs could be heard.

Brielle and Dustin were now in the living room. Upon hearing Kenzo's confession about making the most of his time with someone he liked, Dustin couldn't help but glance at Brielle.

Brielle, however, remained unfazed by Kenzo's words.

Once the conversation ended, Dustin set aside the headphones.

He hadn't expected his sister to be so popular.

Brielle also removed her headphones, catching onto something crucial-the mention of taking medication.

Thanks to King spilling more beans

than necessary, she knew that Max suffered from severe headaches without his medication, a pain so unbearable that even Max could momentarily lose consciousness. More gravely, failing to take the medication could lead to sudden death, a death so mysterious that it left no trace for medical science, merely deemed a heart failure.

It was, arguably, the perfect method for murder.
