Brielle felt the metallic tang of blood spread in her mouth. This wasn't a kiss anymore-it was a savage bite, like two beasts trying to consume each other's blood. It was more intimate than any exchange of bodily fluids. What a freak!

Her cheeks flushed red as she struggled to breathe. He seemed to enjoy watching her suffocate, admiring the rosy hue spreading across her face. Only when Brielle looked like she might pass out did he finally let her go. "Different from being with him, isn't it?" he taunted.

Brielle regained her composure and wiped her lips. "What's so different? You know what's going on with him sometimes. You should know, he and I have done everything."

It was just an excessive kiss; it didn't mean anything to her. She threw the words back at him, hoping to disgust him as much as he disgusted her. Brielle had always been oblivious to others' affections, assuming King's harassment was just his way of getting back at Max for using this body to be with her.

King fancied another woman, after all. With his controlling nature, he must have been furious when he found out Max was using this body to date someone else.

King didn't say a word, but his stare was intense, like a brewing storm ready to swallow everything around them. However, Brielle wasn't scared. She mentally pulled herself away from that harrowing kiss.

"How can he come back?" she asked, referring to Max.

King chuckled, a hint of madness in his laughter, as if his hatred for Max had only deepened, like Max had taken something precious from him. Someone as manipulative as King wouldn't want to share his body with another. Max's disappearance was a win for him-why would he want him back?

But Brielle wanted Max back.

"Don't dream," he said indifferently, widening the gap between them.

Brielle didn't know how to react. It was Max's face, his body, but not his soul. She opened her mouth but couldn't replace the words, looking through King as if searching for the man she longed to see.

King bent down and picked up a mask from the ground. He didn't put it on; instead, he brushed off imaginary dust.

"Though, I've been curious about the taste of his woman," he sneered, placing the mask aside with a sly smile. "If you and I-”

Before he could finish, Brielle turned and opened the nearby door. She walked away without a second thought, not looking back.

As she was about to step onto the path, a young boy rounded the corner, crashing into her arms. Behind him was a majestic panther, standing as tall as an adult, radiating aggression. Isaac stepped back, looking up at the woman before him. Australian, beautiful.

Brielle had been irritated, but seeing Isaac, she couldn't bring herself to dislike him, though thoughts of King complicated her feelings. She was supposed to resent the child, a living reminder of the life she and Max had

lost.

Fate had never favored her. Why else would the child King had with another woman live while hers with Max did not?

Since recovering, Brielle had refused

to fall back into despair. Yet, facing this living, breathing boy who resembled Max, her heart ached. Ignoring King's nature, this child was alse Max's. en Narugi

She couldn't blame Max; such situations were messy for anyone. She squatted down, reaching to touch Isaac's head.

Isaac dodged, quickly scanning her.

A servant stepped forward, speaking softly. "Ms. Brielle, the young master isn't used to close contact. He used to only speak to the sir and is slowly learning to interact with others. Please don't take offense."

Brielle's heart ached again. Isaac nodded at her and smiled.

"Nice to meet you, friend. Noir," he said.

The black panther, as if understanding, stepped forward, bowing its head and placing a paw in front of Brielle. Isaac, with innocent eyes, patted the panther's head. "Noir, apologize. You startled her."
