Master of his heart (Max and Brielle) -
Chapter 1050
"Anything at all?"
King repeated her words, his eyes raking over her, a smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth as he leaned in closer. "Really anything?"
Brielle was frozen, but remembering why she was here, she bit her lip and nodded.
"Yes."
All she wanted was to know if Max was still alive. If he wasn't, her own life felt meaningless; nothing mattered anymore.
King seemed to catch onto her thoughts, his breath hitching for a moment. For a split second, he genuinely wanted to strangle her. His hands found their way to her neck, tightening instinctively.
Yet, Brielle didn't even blink. She stared right at him, maybe recalling the sweet moments they once shared, her cheeks tinged with a soft blush.
In front of Max, she'd always been a bit shy, no matter how many times they'd been close. His face, those gentle eyes, always took her breath away.
But now, those familiar eyes were filled with complexity and anger. He looked like he wanted to tear her apart, to drag Max back from the dead and punish him over and over.
As his grip on her neck tightened, she stubbornly held his gaze.
Finally, King let go, his hand trailing down before pulling back. He didn't touch her, just left her hanging there.
She should be grateful that he was calmer now, not like before when he would have kept her by his side against her will.
Realizing this, she saw the frustration in his eyes as he pulled away from her.
Instinctively, she reached out to grab him, "Wait-"
But before she could finish, King pushed her away.
Right. He wasn't like this before. How did he change so suddenly? He used to be forceful, making sure she enjoyed it regardless.
Like that time at the Dorsey estate, by his nature, he should have finished Antonio off, but he didn't.
Because Max had influenced him. Up till now, Max hadn't shed any Dorsey blood. So, in the moment of killing Antonio, Max's mindset had swayed him. Not finishing the job led to severe consequences.
King snapped back to reality, realizing he couldn't let Max's ways shape him anymore. He was in control now, and he had to act on his own terms. Turning back to Brielle, who sat on the bed, hair slightly messy and cheeks flushed against her pale skin, he felt a surge of frustration.
He scoffed, flicked off the lights, and pushed her back onto the bed.
This time, he wasn't just teasing.
"Look at me!"
His voice was cold as he held her chin, stopping her from moving.
Brielle's palms were sweaty with tension, and in the dim light, they could only see each other's eyes.
King hesitated no longer, kissing her deeply while his hands roamed freely.
But Brielle was regretting it, she was scared.
Despite telling herself that this was Max,
belon this body and face
belonged to him, just his darker side, she couldn't accept it when it came down to it.
She tried to pull away but was caught by the ankle.
"It's too late for regrets now."
King's voice was low, as if he was suppressing something.
"Max!"
Brielle called out, suddenly reaching forward to hug the man in front of her.
King froze for a moment before fury took over again.
So, even now, she was thinking of another man.
He bit into her neck hard, tasting blood.
Brielle winced, her body trembling uncontrollably.
Feeling the dampness on his shoulder, King realized she was crying.
Annoyed and frustrated, he pushed her away, grabbed a blanket, and threw it over her before storming out.
Brielle kicked at the blanket, and by the time she pulled it off her head, the room was empty.
He had stopped himself after all.
King lit a cigarette, glancing at himself in the hallway mirror.
His bathrobe hung loosely, a
cigarette between his fingers, Max's face flushed with desire, his eyes
gleaming with dangerous allure.
He scoffed and headed downstairs, just as a servant reported that Ms. Kailee was there, spending time with the young master.
King paused, silently smoking.
By the time he finished his cigarette, the grand hall was empty. He
glanced at his pale, slender hal
and clenched his fist.
