King didn't pay Brielle any attention; his mind was busy trying to figure out Max's Achilles' heel. The more he thought about it, the clearer it became-Brielle was Max's weakness. And not just Max's, but his own as well. Behind him, Brielle's arms wrapped around him, a

gesture that had replayed in his mind countless times.

They were both sitting on the same bed, but their thoughts were worlds apart. Eventually, King stood up, his eyes finally meeting hers. She reluctantly let go, pulling the comforter close and locking eyes with him. She had a gut feeling that Max had come back last night; her plan must have worked. After all, it was Max's body they shared, and any embarrassment she felt was nothing compared to the joy of having Max back.

Her cheeks flushed at the thought, her grip on the comforter tightening. It reminded her of the first time she had helped Max into her apartment. Now, she was using the same tactic with King.

King raised an eyebrow, feeling a bit better. He reached for a lighter, intending to have a smoke, but a thought stopped him cold.

"She hates the smell of smoke."

His hand froze, and his expression darkened. Max was waking up, regaining some consciousness. This situation was similar to the past when King could occasionally see the world through Max's eyes, except back then, Max was unaware of his presence. Now, it seemed Max knew more and more, which filled King with a sense of dread. Was his own existence fading?

The lighter flickered on and off. Brielle watched, puzzled by his actions. From her point of view, he looked serious and troubled, almost crushing the cigarette between his fingers.

Finally, he tossed the cigarette into the trash and left the room.

Why was Max waking up so quickly?

King's mood was grim, and it didn't help that someone chose this moment to bother him.

"Sir, Ronald is here."

What did that old man want now?

King put on his mask, becoming the cold, ruthless man he was known to be in the presence of others.

Downstairs in the living room, Ronald was waiting respectfully.

Ronald glanced at King's disheveled appearance, noting his bad mood.

"King," Ronald greeted with a smile. "We've informed the Lynch family that we have Brielle. Once we secure the diamond resources, we'll make sure you get a significant share." Wasn't the whole point to control the world's diamond supply?

King sat down, seemingly uninterested in the topic, merely responding with a noncommittal grunt.

Ronald was trying to gauge King's thoughts. King was known for his decisiveness and brutality, his desires always clear.

Despise something? Eliminate it.

Like something? Keep it.

So far, nothing seemed to have caught his fancy.

Ronald had considered investigating the woman who bore Isaac, but King had protected her identity too well. Everyone was still in the dark about Isaac's mother's identity. Ronald suspected King was Max's twin brother. With Max gone, King had achieved his goal and forcefully kept Brielle.

But would they continue their partnership?

Ronald broached the topic of diamond resources as bait.

Sure enough, at the mention of diamonds, King's lips curved into a smile. He had everything-wealth,

status. Now, all he wanted was toet

eliminate Max. Yet, despite his efforts, Max remained deeply entrenched within him. It seemed a long-term strategy was needed.

The diamond resources Ronald offered could be useful. Max's desire to be with Brielle would surely require passing the Lynch family's tests. King could use his face to sour the Lynch family against him, making them see this face as an enemy. It was a win-win

If the Lynch family opposed Brielle's relationship with Max, it would put Brielle in a tough spot.

King liked this plan and was eager to put it into action. As for the diamond resources, he couldn't care less. But to keep the game going, to allow those behind the scenes to climb higher only to fall harder later, he played along.

"Fine," King agreed. "We'll share the Lynch family's diamond resources. Whatever I have is at your disposal too."

Noticing a shadow at the staircase, he deliberately raised his voice, ensuring she would hear.
